I could see something where you play as one of them prior to the events of RE8. That'd be neat.
Reviews for Resident Evil 4 VR have been pouring out, and it's been rather positive but some gripes here and there.
The big cons I've seen thus far:
-NO MERCENARIES/ADA CAMPAIGNS. Yep, Seperate Ways and Assignment Ada are not here, alongside Mercenaries; this means no Alt. Costume 2, no Chicago Typewriter and no Handcannon. Big disappointment.
-Cutscenes can be jarring with the border
-Censorship IS present, and it's edited out a bit jarringly too, with static cutting out the "offending" lines.
Other than those three I've heard repeatedly, the rest is all positive. I'll provide my insights into this more in depth once it releases tomorrow since I have the money to spare to give this a whirl. Even if it sucks, I'm still playing RE4 so it shouldn't be TOO disappointing, right?
That's really weird, so Luis says "Looks like they equipped the President's daughter with KRRRRRSSSSHHHH BUZZZZZ KRRRRRRRSSSSZZZZZZZZHHHHHHHH"?-Censorship IS present, and it's edited out a bit jarringly too, with static cutting out the "offending" lines.
All this has proven is that robots exist in the resident evil universe now. That's really weird, so Luis says "Looks like they equipped the President's daughter with KRRRRRSSSSHHHH BUZZZZZ KRRRRRRRSSSSZZZZZZZZHHHHHHHH"?
Honestly I had the reversed opinion: I first thought it drifted too far away from it's roots and basically turned the series into a shootfest (Which it did turn into with 5 and 6, even though I still enjoyed the shit out of 5). Later on I realized it for the fun, dumb thing it is now, but I can see why folks might get turned off with the game when they heard how awesome it is, and then get hit with tank controls in 2005.Am I the only that thinks RE4 is highly overrated?
I feel bad about that as obviously the game does have a lot of charm and was very groundbreaking for it's day, but a recent replay honestly did not leave me very impressed.
I loved it as much as everyone else did the first time I played it, but these days I resent the impact it had on the horror general as a whole as well as the Resident Evil series itself afterward, which had all yet to happen in 2005, but I also think it's in many ways a pretty dated game, some games from the 6th gen hold up very well and some simply don't.
I will say though that they absolutely nailed Leon as a character, he looks cool, his quips are funny and cool, that's definitely a big aspect of the game's charm that does hold up.

So it's "SO I SEE THE PRESIDENT'S DAUGHTER WAS EQUIPPED WITH..."Honestly I had the reversed opinion: I first thought it drifted too far away from it's roots and basically turned the series into a shootfest (Which it did turn into with 5 and 6, even though I still enjoyed the shit out of 5). As for the cut lines, what I mean is for the little codec call things; for dialogue like Ballistics, they just cut to the next line. Weird as hell and a bit jarring.
Honestly as much as I enjoyed 4's cheesy ass plot, I do wish it had more connections to the rest of the series instead of Ada showing up and Wesker saying hi in a side campaign. I always wanted to fight something like the Hunters or maybe an imported Tyrant that Saddler bought, anything really to connect to it more. But I was honestly surprised how much I disliked RE4, I was expecting it to enjoy it more, the last time I replayed the game was in 2014 which was not that long ago and I still enjoyed it pretty good, but what was different is this time I replayed it after replaying REmake, RE0, original RE2, original RE3 and Code Veronica and that was when the contrast between the classic style and RE4 became all the more obvious, plus it sucked getting invested in the series storyline and lore all over again only to have RE4 veer off from what was obviously being built up into what amounts to a side story.
I wasn't, you documented your multi part nostalgiafag session in the thread pretty well. But I was honestly surprised how much I disliked RE4,
It was really dumb, we go game after game setting up some ultimate showdown with Umbrella and 4 just sidesteps that entirely and the showdown we did get was relegated to a rail shooter spinoff, it's just lame.Honestly as much as I enjoyed 4's cheesy ass plot, I do wish it had more connections to the rest of the series instead of Ada showing up and Wesker saying hi in a side campaign. The games never took themselves TOO seriously, even REmake has Barry's cheesy one liners.Shit, even now I don't get people that say "THE PLOT IN THE PAST GAMES WERE STUPID AND I DIDN'T LIKE THEM, RE4 HAD THE BEST PLOT BECAUSE IT WAS SEPERATE FROM ALL THE GARBAGE". Like, the past games had the exact same amount of cheese this one has, only RE4 is a bit more self aware of that. People always seem to think RE4 was the game that made the series silly, but shit like the crossdressing psycho in Code Veronica and literal b-movie action plots in every other game was always there to provide the ridiculous aspect of the game.
But what's weird is how little 4 connects to it, yes Las Plagas infected enemies are there, but it has nothing to do with Wesker's main plot, Ouroboros is not directly connected to Las Plagas, it also doesn't make sense why Wesker would infect a bunch of random African townspeople and villagers with Las Plagas, near the end of the game he's using Las Plagas infected as a personal army, but why the random people? And why did Wesker care about Las Plagas at all when it has nothing to do with his main world ending scheme? It's why I like RE5 so much, it connects back to the series and brings in some cool stuff. Ouroboros is prolly one of my favorite viruses in the series for how weird it is.
The opening village segment of 4 really is a classic, by far the scariest part of the game, at first it was a great trip down memory lane, but the more I played the game and got to the castle and especially the island, the more tedious I found it.I wasn't, you documented your multi part nostalgiafag session in the thread pretty well.

Even most fans admit the island is the weakest part of the game.
Late but it's not like he talks down to her like "This is a RADIO, it means we can talk to each other without being in the same room," all he says is "We can use this to stay in contact." She just comes off as a huge bitch. After demake 3 are we really that surprised?
