They could pull a 180° and make Rose the 'true' villian in the end, have Chris struggling to put her down after what hypothetically could be an entire game's worth of bonding

Not exactly something we havent seen before, but less expected than what we're getting
I don't know what route they'll go, but I'm fully expecting Capcom to fuck it up.

So I replayed Code Veronica on OG Dreamcast for the first time in over a decade, and i gotta say, it's now my favorite of the "classic" era lineup. I love the creepy atmosphere and amazing OST. Also I really loved how the Chris sections changed up the layout of the levels in a pretty ingenius way. The spotter things almost gave me hives.
One complaint is that the game starts out in ammo scarcity hell, but later on you have enough ammo and health items to feed a whole platoon of S.T.A.R.S members. Interestingly the western release of CV is the only mainline RE (up to that point) that didn't have a difficulty setting. I would love to play through the game again on a harder setting.
Now it'll be interesting to see if Capcom decides to official remake CV (not interested in the fan remake crap) and how they will update the presentation.

Well, somebody's got to love it.

You can admit to us that you used a guide so you didn't hardlock yourself into the middle of the game.

I was very impressed when I replayed it last year, it does have some flaws, I wish that there were less concrete hallway industrial type environments and more areas like the private residence, but where it really excels is the story, it’s easily the best story any Resident Evil game has had, the whole thing with Alfred and Alexia is just perfectly creepy and really captures the essence of what Resident Evil is all about, in addition to that it really nailed to the whole Hollywood style presentation and pacing, the end of the game leaves you feeling happily exhausted like after you’ve watched a really intense action movie, it’s just such a shame that the writer of the game ultimately died, would’ve been awesome to see what else he would’ve brought to the table for the series.

As for a remake it’s really hard to say if I would want one, it’d be interesting to see what it would be like but the game is already fully 3-D with graphics that still have some charm to them so it’s not as needed as the PS1 games.

What are the differences between the Dreamcast version and the PS2 version by the way?

PS2 is the X version with re-wrote Wesker cutscenes (in the original he never met Claire or fought Alexia) and Steve's different hair. CVX version was released for Dreamcast as well but in Japan only (it's called Code Veronica Kanzenban)

Netflix just announced the release date on the resident evil show. They should’ve just canceled that garbage.

Huh, wonder what they mean by “redefine”? Oh wait...

Also Oy vey on that author.

Wow, never fought Alexia? That's one of my favorite moments in the game, if he never meets Claire how do they introduce him in the first place?

That sounds like a pretty significant downgrade.

He only appears in Chris' run and he's never seen again after him meeting Alexia. In the original cutscene he just runs away and presumably leaves the island as his original battle mode screen implies

I guess this was when they were figuring out the story for 4 and wanted Wesker to be more of a threat. CVX introduced things like his Matrix abilities and him having a grudge against Chris.

Wow, I'm genuinely shocked how different it is, I always assumed since they said RE4 started out as what became Devil May Cry, ie the idea was you playing as a character with "Wesker powers" I just assumed the idea of giving Wesker Matrix style superpowers were already present in CV and what inspired the original idea for 4, but if X didn't come out until 2001, the same year as Devil May Cry, does that mean Matrix style Wesker was inspired by Devil May Cry, not the other way around then?

Very odd all around.

I definitely remember reading about the version of 4 with Wesker going against Umbrella...
Now that I think about it, post-CV Wesker game with DMC combat elements sounds better than RE4 remake, Capcom's sleeping on it.

No, I dont like that idea. Something I want to see that would be innovative and interesting would be playing as a character with fucked up virus powers.

Somebody trying to find their place in the world and live as "normally" as they can while trying to do good with ability's that would make you a villain in any other story.

Part of me wish more games did that when they fucked up storywise or know they could do better. Mass effect tried with DLC but I think the only game that really managed to pull something like this off was kingdom hearts Remind.

Supposedly Capcom WAS working on a game like that, it was called "Resident Evil Outrage" and was about post CV Wesker going against the HCF, that recent leaked Concept art of Wesker in a suit and with a fucked up from was from supposedly that, not RE4 Remake.

Sadly it seems like it was canceled, which is a shame, not only is a game where you play as Wesker for the whole thing a great idea, but it would have been amazing to see Capcom actually explain what happened to the HCF.

Indeed, MGSV is in badly need of a new version with a more coherent story.

I can't hate this casting, for one thing there's been so many incarnations of the character, including in a movie from just last year, why wouldn't they want to go with casting that stands out? Secondly I can see Lance Riddick pulling off Wesker's cockiness.

How do I delete someone else's post?:jaceknife:
i unironically like RE6 as something on it's own without comparing it to other titles.
it also has fucking L4D2 survivors. only game that lets me do a roundhouse kick with ellis and spinning back fist with coach.

definitely the cheesiest resident evil game though

I think that if RE6 was released under another name and by another publisher then barely anyone would remember it.

Not to mention "Trent dicking over Umbrella for revenge" would have made a much better plot thread about how all of these random-ass people were able to take the corporation down rather than "lol Umbrella had a terminal case of retard and choked on its own tongue" we got.
I mean, it's a little more realistic, but then we get meat Transformers and Chris Roidfield, Puncher of Pumice. Make up your fuckin' minds, Capcom.
I wonder if it's the same Trent that Shivers blood used to talk about. Is Shiversblood actually S.D. Perry's KF handle?
