I'm hoping they get rid of all the QTE scenes except one in RE4Re. You know the one, fellas. Wouldn't mind them adding a second one to finally finish him off after the boss fight, either.

Also I'm hoping we get a QT3.14 shoggoth maid waifu.

Personally, I didn't think 4 needed a remake. With 2 and 3, there are a lot of people who couldn't handle tank controls and the graphics and other stuff. 4 is what made RE more accessible.

I wonder if they're gonna keep this up after 4. 1-4 are pretty beloved. A lot of people think 5 is where the series really went south, and 6 is where everyone agrees it had gone south. Would they remake 5? 6? I feel like if they were gonna do more 2-4 style remakes, they should do 1 or CV. Those could use it.
They will probably make remakes of 5, and 6. I think with Wesker out of the picture they've lost their "big villian" and don't know where to take things now. They won't remake CV because that was the game where we learn Wesker didn't die in 1 and he was made to be the "big villian". They seem to be trying to rewrite the series so they don't have to worry about writing in, or around "Wesker lore" even though RE fans love Wesker. Which means Jake will probably be retconned out. But that's just my opinion.

I'm assuming this thread is also an honorary Dino Crisis thread?

I started playing it again after not having touched it since it came out back in the day. I had fond memories of it but damn time has not been kind to Dino Crisis. Or maybe my memory is bad and coloured by nostalgia and it always had these issues. It is basically a reskin of RE so I don't have the usual zoomer complaints about tank controls or whatever. Its mostly UI that is really bugging me and some of the game play decisions. I find the whole interface way more confusing and annoying to use than RE which is quite intuitive and slick in comparison.

Also the whole item management is 10 times worse than RE. I don't know what they were thinking with the item mixing shit but it is terrible. I can just about tolerate fucking around with herbs in RE but Dino Crisis has like a dozen fucking medical items and darts to mix and fuck around with and its all just tedious to me and breaks up the gameplay. I shouldn't need a fucking chart just to create some sleeping darts or whatever.

The puzzles, I'm not going to mince words...compared to RE they are fucking terrible and annoying.

The setting and atmosphere is still top notch though. If there is any game that's ripe for a remake at this point its Dino Crisis.

Wesker is still alive though. Umbrella Corps already retcon it.

I'm still sad we didn't get a higher effort full remake of 3, including all the areas, the branching story bits, a more involved Nemesis system, etc. Imagine if they expanded the game and had a legit massive open Raccoon City streets. I enjoyed 3make, but it was totally just a 2make DLC and the waste of potential for what it COULD have been and probably never will be now is the problem.

I can see what you're saying, and sort of agree. I was annoyed how people were like "Wow, Capcom is revolutionizing Survival Horror!" when RE7 just did what so many horror games on Steam for the last 10 years had been doing. You're right that RE7 and 8 could have been new IPs. 8 was a level of camp and jump the shark action schlock on-par with RE5/6, at least.

But then again, I remember people saying the same about RE4. "Where's the zombies? Why is the camera different? This isn't Resident Evil!"

https://youtube.com/watch?v=H_4ljRv4Yuo:144"We heard how much y'all loved Vampire Mommy in 8, so we're bringing you Fish Mommy in 9."
"W... what kind of Fish Mommy?"

Could you leave your sbfp sperging for the other thread? Let's not leave bad cringe in here.

Motherfucker got dunked into a volcano and got his head blown off by two rockets, how is that even possible?

Even if it weren't for the volcano or rockets, Wesker would've been consumed by the Uroboros anyway. RE5 made sure he was dead.

Umbrella corps takes place after RE5. He even has dialogue congratulating the player for doing good. Also, this is Capcom we are talking about here.

In Megaman X6 they made sure to bring back zero like nothing happened. This was him at the end of the game and they intended to leave him death but they changed their mind. It was only a matter of time before they brought back Wesker.
Nothing but a fucking torso.jpg

Other than a graphics update and being able to move while shooting, RE4 just doesn't need it. It's such a bizarrely perfect combination of campiness and horror that tinkering with it is nearly guaranteed to alienate at least half of the original's fans.

They won't touch 5 due to today's climate of hyper-sensitivity and faggotry, and 6 is just going to be eternally ignored. Which is a shame as for as busted as 6 was, there was potential there.

Zero's a reploid though, you can write it off as him finding spare parts. Wesker getting exploded is a bit more difficult to explain away. Unless they're going the clone route. Which would make the series somehow even more retarded.

Same reason they won’t touch code Veronica. All the troons would freak the fuck out if it was released today. And other than killing Africans in 5, it’s also a mixed game with fans. Not as hated as 6, but they remade 2, 3, and 4 because these are loved games.

Either they’ll remake RE1 again after RE4, or they’ll move on to Dino Crisis.

He got better. Or you know. Something something volcano burned away ouroboros which let him crawl out or some other nonsense. Look, Resident Evil has never had the best or most consistent writing in the first place.

It is. That's where blue umbrella came from. Also, survivor 1 and 2 and dead aim are canon even though they are shit, the producers and writers of this franchise don't give a shit.

Survivor is canon and honestly isn't as bad as RE6, Umbrella Corps, or ORC. It's flawed but there's enough good concepts in it despite the fact it was a quick budget title.

I've noticed a lot of people in the online RE fandom have started warming up to Survivor after Village came out. The consensus is shifting from Survivor being "Worst RE Ever!" to "Good concept with a flawed execution"

GmanLives outright defended Survivor while others like Boulder Punch and Sphere Hunter acknowledge that it was a mixed bag and wasn't anywhere near as bad as people think.

Survivor 2 is not canon and is stated to be a dumb dream Claire had after Code Veronica.

Dead Aim may or may not be canon, it never got officially declared canon like Survivor did.

Dead Aim had a literal troon as a villain, as in when they took the virus and became a Tyrant, they also became a woman. I shit you not.

At least with Alfred, they made it clear he's just a deluded freak.

I think we'll see either a remake of Dino Crisis if they can somehow avoid fucking up the RE4 remake or we'll see Code Veronica remade

I doubt they'll do another RE1 remake but I also thought RE4 remake was out of the question too, so who knows?

If they're going to do more remakes, I'd remake Code Veronica with a Survivor remake as a major story DLC for it and then remake the Dino Crisis series. Otherwise, let's move onto RE9.

Not to mention it didn't have the hint of modernity steeped into their fabrics. Too many hiring mistakes were made.
I think the Feast series(movies) mirrors Resident Evil's escalting story progression in a way.
Feast 1: Patrons locked inside a bar are forced to fight monsters.
Feast 2: The monsters have made it into a small neighboring town in the middle of nowhere and the locals have to band with the survivors of the bar' slaughter to figure out how to survive.
Feast 3: The survivors are saved by the mysterious prophet who seemingly has the ability to control the beasts.

Ending of Feast 3 for those curious, it's no more ridiculous than RE as a whole.
