You know how many major or even minor glitches I had during my time with Resident Evil 4? Zero, none, the game worked flawlessly.
Another common W for the 2005 original
Speaking of which, I don't see anyone even talk about the DLC anymore. I don't even care if it was a dud or not, nobody seems to care about this game PERIOD. Good luck milking the RE4 memberberries until the next game/remake/movie!
In general I didn't have any bugs in 4make until that. Island is completely unplayable with most rolls of it.

I finally finished it and got the meh RPD outfit. Leon is so fucking ugly in this game. The shadows on his face shadows make him look like meth tranny. And his unkempt hair is off putting.

Speaking of RE8 and the castle, I would love to see a game that revisited the Hook Man beta build. I like the idea of a paranormal Resident Evil game set in a castle, where you have to fight illusions or specters rather than zombies. There was some sort of black goo in that build as well, if I recall, or some sort of fog so you could even shoehorn in the mold if your really wanted to.
RE8 had a chance to just be that, but I guess identity crisis and all made it that much more boring to play.

Edit: I just checked TCRF, as I often do, and I found an exploit/glitch for RE4 I've never seen before
So apparently you can jump the fence out of bounds early on in the game and get a whole bunch of items, including an unused alternative ammo set for the mine dart thrower(unusable, sadly). You can repeat this when you have Ashley with you. Very useful tip for a game that is so heavy handed with it's resources, I wonder if this is still available on the Steam version of the game? More importantly, I wonder if there is any other instance of items being out of bounds like this, and being available to the player.

You saying its scarce? Re4 gives way too much ammo to the player. If you're talking about the NA gamecube version enemies have more hp and drop less ammo but every other release changed that. By the end of re4 on every version but the original your inventory will look something like this:

There's a couple glitches like this you can do something similar in the lake cave where the merchant is to get the separate ways shotgun in leon's campaign, I think it requires ditman though? This is the first time I've seen this one though.

I never got the resource autism in RE4. Older games sure, but it's not like the game is any easier when you're flushed with ammo in 4: If you suck and miss your shots, you will still have a hard time. I would prefer if you could buy ammo directly from the merchant, that would add another layer of resource management: You could spend your money on herbs, grenades and ammo but then you won't have enough for weapon upgrades that might be more worthwhile in the longrun. What about a Tactical Vest or an Attache Case upgrade? Resources you can't pick up do you no good.
It's a shame the modding scene never really picked up for RE4. Most mods are just simple model swaps, I want brand new weapons and maps, or at least mods that bring back the handgun silencers and what have you, using resources already present in the game.

resource autism
Can you stop using terms in lieu of an actual statement? I don't know what this means nor do I know what resources being "heavy handed" means. I literally have no clue what you're trying to say about re4's resource balancing from either of your posts. But I'll make mine:
1. Resources are not scarce.
2. More ammo does make the game easier there's 100+ shotgun shells there, those make it so the enemy can't even move.
If you suck and miss your shots, you will still have a hard time.
"If you're bad at the game you won't be good at the game" I imagine that's true of any game.

I'm really enjoying Code Veronica. For whatever reason I never ended up playing it despite the re-releases.
As a RE spinoff title, I thought it was such an underrated gem. I played it not too long ago actually, and I'm shocked that it gets better within every replay value.

Its not a spinoff its gameplay loop is identical to the rest of the "main" titles. And of course everyone knows its literally supposed to be RE3 and the 3 we know was gonna be RE:NEMESIS, but it changed because of legal arrangements with sony.

It makes it extra weird that 3 got the remake while cv got ignored, now its seems its gonna be passed up for 5 somehow.

Also CV is the most bizarre Resident Evil title by far. It's got a very strange atmosphere and its characters are all such weirdos. Of the classic games it or 2 are my favs.

Either way, it's a very fun RE game.

CV is a slog since it's this weird amalgamation of classic RE with Dino Crisis's approach to a 3D game world. CV's core problem is that it was designed to be on Dreamcast.

It has the stiffest gameplay of the whole series, and the game is just too fucking dark a lot of the time. They went nuts with atmosphere layering on everything.

I've always thought that Zero and CV were battling to see who is the worst game of the original series.

CV is still a better game than ORC. Zero is fine but not great.

That's not a high bar to clear because ORC is actual trash.

You could fix Zero by just adjusting the space required for two slot weapons to one, add more cutscenes with Billy and Rebecca because there's like one cutscene of them in the training facility talking about his military background and nothing until the credits really.

Remove the shitty plaguecrawlers, the centurion and the bat and replace them with something else. Most of the new enemies are just big things of smaller things that weren't even redesigned to look really infected. Yawn is how you take an animal and make it look fucked up.

And removing Sephiroth.

Proto Tyrant is the best enemy in that game and cooler than T-002.

Oh yea, ORC is hot garbo. I wish we'd live in a utopia future in which that game never existed.

I didn't mind the idea of it, but it's gameplay is so fucking horrendous that I don't even care they tried to do something different.

His voice is so humiliating.

Every resident evil is better than ORC. Except Umbrella Corps of course.

Both Zero and CV are miserable games to play, and the two games I genuinely dislike in this franchise. (Spin-offs not included). Out of any RE that needs a remake I’d say CV needs it desperately. Zero and REmake released in the same year but have a drastic difference in quality. REmake actually being fun.

You're lucky you included that because orc is jank and boring but uc just flat out doesnt work.
Funny you two mentioned it because, up until now, I've forgotten all about Umbrella Corps, mainly because how it was just easily boring and forgettable.

I think it's one instance that no matter how they approach it, it cannot be worse the original.

It's a heavy backtracking RE and it's the only one that feels like pulling teeth to take part in that.

The only thing that I still enjoy it is Richard Waugh as Wesker and Wesker's Report.

At least Zero doesn't "feel" awful to play, but it's got problems everywhere else.

By now everyone should be aware that this 20 year old narrative about CV is horseshit. CV was always just a spinoff and Sony had nothing to do with Nemesis becoming RE3. The Snoy part is particularly egregious, because there is literally no basis for it.
TL;DR:
- RE3(OG) was a PS1 game with Hunk on a boat -> this gets cancelled when the dev team decided to make a PS2 RE game instead
- Capcom still wants a numbered RE game to release soon -> they decide to upgrade one of their spinoffs into RE3 and the PS2 game is going to be RE4
- Nemesis gets the nod, and is turned into a significantly larger game than originally intended. The End.
It makes it extra weird that 3 got the remake while cv got ignored, now its seems its gonna be passed up for 5 somehow.
There's nothing weird about the actually numbered games getting remade. Lmao.

RE5 still looks and plays well today, it holds up remarkably well. Six is a fucking mess and needs a remake more imo.
