It had some like Alone in the Dark (ironic, I know) and Dead Space was literally called "RE4 but in space". The former was a bad example while the latter was a good one.
Funny thing about that version of alone in the dark ( 2008 ) It was the same developer as the Obscure games. Which IMO the first was a fun teen horror take on Survival Horror. The second one was a let down but still okay game if you was a fan of the first, then came alone in the dark which flopped, Then if we trust Mobygames game database, they basically had one last flop of a game called Fairytale Fights, before being sent to the shovel ware Mines. That's not even getting into the failed Obscure 3 game that got rebranded as "Final Exam" made with a different developer name, but same people who worked on the 2 obscure games.

TLDR: I blame AitD 2008 for us never truly getting a true third obscure game.

gf is really really into the numakes and 7+8, and I like em too! - but I'm tryna get her to give the fixed camera games and original 4 a whirl but she doesn't have the patience for tank controls or ink ribbons (real shame cause I woulda loved to see her reaction to a crimson head lol)

anyway yeah personally I hope RE5 is remade so we can play together cause I don't think she's interested in anything before 7 :'(

FUCKING CASUAL

Ink ribbons and limited saving were a big part of the horror of the original games and I think think they should be a toggle on or off in addition to the base difficulty setting.

So is anyone playing the PC version from GOG? Im thinking about picking it up just to own the games officially on PC. Never tried the Seamless HD mods.

The only one available at the moment is RE 1. I picked it up and it's a pretty basic port of the original PC release. Bad audio and low quality but uncut in color intro included. So this isn't going to have anything in the Director's Cut. So no arrange mode sadly. Apparently it is pretty simple to get the Classic Rebirth mod going on it.
The game is a trip because I haven't played the true original Resident Evil since 1997. I only went back to my greatest hits director's cut since then.
The port itself works pretty well. It worked straight out of the box and my xbox controller worked right away. You will need to remap the controls in the menu. Default Ready weapon was the start button. Pretty par for the course when it comes to these ancient games running on modern hardware.

If you watch want to watch his stuff. Stick to his main videos. In his live steams, shorts and community posts he can't help but be a huge sperg.
its par for the course for a speedrunner, he attends those lgbt speedrun cons, and also a twitch streamer, its a complete unholy trinity of mental illnesses.

also i think he has a beef with Bawbaksoup, which i believe beat his old RE speedrun records.

Speaking of Capcoms favourite tranny, The original games are being re-released on PC and of course, The Shill is already shilling it. I wont link the video for oblivious reasons.
I would understand if the games also released on all other platforms, but if they’re just on pc you can take literally 10 fucking minutes to set up duckstation.

My only real problem with limited saving is not being able to leave the game whenever you need to. If there was an option to quit the game from where you left off, while still returning you to your last ink ribbon save if you were to die, that’d be perfect.

Yes Typhoon, tell me more about the eurotrash.
I wish to hear more gnashing of teeth about gog not using the sourcenext port.
The forum posts are pretty good, but you can't openly mock people on GOG forums.

Finished Resident Evil 4 (2005) for the second time. Not as exciting as the first time, of course. Still one of the best action shooter games ever. Going to give the remake a try soon.
okay time for memes :gunt:

I preferred the RE4 remake over the original, they made the atmosphere a lot creepier. Also the President’s daughter wasn’t as fucking grating to me this time around. I wanted that bitch dead so bad in the og.

I've finished RE4 (the original) with the HD patch, it was really fun although it can take some time to get used to the camera. It's not like most western third-person shooters, the camera on the shoulder can give me a headache sometimes. I don't think I'll play the other modes, at least not now.
Stunning the enemy just to kick them never gets old.

Sitting in Sadler's chair is infinitely more awesome if you're wearing the pinstripe costume. Out of all of the things they ditch in the remake, they choose Sadler's kickass throne...
