It sure would be nice if a new Resident Evil thing could be announced so that you faggots could actually talk about video games instead of slapfighting and sperging over whether female models look good in remakes. It stinks like /v/ in here.

Im still blown away at how much the Switch versions of RE 5 and 6 suck on the technical level. I wasnt expecting 60 frames but at least stable 30 frames and the fucking thing struggles with keeping at 25, docked or otherwise.

Capcom legit didnt give a shit, the Switch CAN easily do PS3 gen graphics and above. And worst part? Im sure if you homebrew a PS3/Xbox360 emulator on it, you could run the game mostly fine.

Edit: And seems like Capcom didnt even try to patch these issues because it still runs like garbage today.

You know, an interesting world building detail is the matter of "Where did the T-Virus end up? Why its not used anymore?"

The lore actually sort of addresses this in the background and the answer is simple...The T-Virus isnt an effective bio-weapon anymore. After the R.C incident, the anti-virus for the T-Virus became mass distributed and its almost as common as having the antidote to a snake's poison at a hospital so it really became a rather useless bioweapon since the world is just that much adapted to it. Usually when T-Virus zombies appear its in isolated controlled locations and/or they have some sort of alteration that makes them more dangerous than the regular ones.

So despite the T-Virus being an iconic part of the franchise, it sort of became outdated in universe, rather realistically.

I think that's why they did the thing with the C virus. Since it was this combo of Veronica and G, although I don't know if that created the zombies in RE6 since that would just make Tyrant level monsters.

I'm sick of the Plagas shit. Mold is stupid.

Has there been any news whatsoever about a new game? Feels a bit quiet from their end considering it was almost a never-ending drip-feed of hints and reveals from RE7 onwards.

Capcom, as far as I know, has been surprisingly quiet about RE9 or any new spin offs since the RE4 remake. One could see this as a good thing, being that Capcom is taking their time to come up with something worthwhile or a bad thing, being that Capcom is struggling with where to take the series next.

Many are still desiring a Code Veronica remake (or a port in GOG like the OG trilogy got) but, again, Capcom has been radio silent. There is also the fact that a RE5 remake is a giant roadblock that Capcom has no way around since most of the game is around a white american man and his mixed race partner shooting down the zombified natives which, yeah, good luck doing that in current year (An american white man shooting down the Spanish zombified natives tho? Tight tight tight!)

The new Dead Rising demake hit the floor like a dull thud, they don't want to announce their new zombie game too soon or it will look like even they lost confidence in their new product.

A CV remake is the only time I think whatever they do, will make it less of a slog than the original did. RE1R will be whatever. I don't care anymore. The starved consoomers just want to get in on an old series without having to play originals because tank controls hard!

Why anyone wants to revisit Zero needs to seek professional help. Even gutting it completely, you may as well make a brand new game to make that piece of shit work.

I'm on record as saying a CV remake would be my ideal (outside of a totally new entry of course). Zero is a piece of shit game and would require a total from ground-up reimagining so it ain't happening.

What are the odds they get desperate enough and reREmake 1 again?

Zero sold like shit and has next to no fanbase. Capcom are fucking retards but the writing is on the wall it wouldn't sell at all enough to warrant a complete rebuild.

And there's a very vocal amount of troons that NEED RE1 in the over the shoulder slop. They'll do it by the 30th anniversary.

As for CV, it's what actually needs a remake. The plot and everything is fine (not for today's world) but the game just feels like dogshit to play. So they'll just reuse the RE2R formula again and go to the Ashford story with a hatchet because crossdressing cannot be painted in a bad light when Capcom uses trannies for their spokesmen.

Looking back, RE3 remake legit added a plothole to the rest of the series. That is being Nicholai's survival. In the original, depending on your choices, Nicholai could either perish or escape the city in a stolen helicopter (leading to Jill and Carlos being rescued by Barry of all people). The main entries dont mention him again so it is kept vague which version is canon, however, iirc, a document in a spin off (survivor, I think) is written by Nicholai detailing the events of his escape, so he kind of canonically gets away with it.

With all of this said, the remake has Nicholai being left to die at the nuking of the city, with Jill, almost out of character, just spitefully letting him die despite him claiming to have precious info on who his real boss is (highly implied to be Wesker).

So the remake actually disrupted canon because Nicholai is able to escape and I recall seeing some many fans eating up the copium saying he took a different helicopter to escape. What an awful game.

I miss the feeling of the old plodding dread filled RE games, if only for the journals.

Day 89: We have finally completed our gorilla alligator chimera with AK47s for arms. My colleague Dr. Owen keeps poking it with a stick agitating it. The cell door has been reinforced but I worry. I watch it analyzing the doorframe like a predator. I pray it does not figure a way out.
*Blood stained page* Day 90: The creature has escaped. The screams from Dr. Owen keeps ringing in my ears. I'm currently hiding in a closet but I hear it getting closer. Hopefully the Umbrella reaction team....

My dude, you confront him in an area with multiple visible helicopters.

It's not clear if any of them are functional or even if he has a way to activate the engine AND fly away at a safe distance of a city wide nuclear blast. Jill and Carlos were just barely able to outrun the blast zone. Oh he was shot, that too.

And assuming all those choppers were 100% ready to go, why would Nicholai even try to bargain with Jill into taking him along then?

Because he's demonstrated to be a weaselly little shit who prioritises survival and money over dignity.

Out of all the flaws in the remake you've latched onto one that only exists if you approach it from the intellectual level of a complete retard.

All this shit-talking of Zero put me in the mood to replay it. So I did...

>The opening narration references the events of the first game, gun survivor, and code veronica. The narrator describes all three of these events as being 'seemingly unrelated', despite all of them involving zombies.

>Anime James Marcus appears 3 times in the first 20 minutes.

>I had Rebecca, a literal genius, repair a live electrical wire in the rain. On top of a speeding train. She was then accosted by leeches.

>There's a scene where a couple of Umbrella Security Service guys get attacked by leeches, their screams echoing into the stormy night as they fire their machine pistols in vain. Billy and Rebecca are standing next to a door, right outside where all of this takes place. Neither of them comment on this.

>Hook shot. 2 item slots.

Okay, I kneel. This game is dumb. Part of me still wants to like it though.

The idea of Zero is solid, showing what horror the Bravo Team went through and how Rebecca was the only one left (not literally but any other member alive by that point was dying or dies right after they are introduced). It also had neat scenes that tie to events the future entries like having Wesker and Birkin together, with the former clearly having his own agenda and the latter's obssession with a "stronger virus" all setting up what will happen in the future to both of them. It also expands on the origins of umbrella, which the series was focusing on with Veronica onwards.

The problems begin with the gameplay, the fixed camera angle style really wasnt built for coop gameplay. Ironically enough, Zero fit better as a on rails shooter in the form of The Umbrella Chronicles.

I wasnt even against the idea of Billy himself but he would have worked better as someone that tried to escape on his own and would come across Rebecca a few times, eventually leading to them starting to trust each other. I also think Billy should have died because him disappearing from canon after this entry feels like a waste of a character (which is...sadly recurrent for this series).

The thought of Billy dying makes me sad. :(

One of my favorite cutscenes from the game happens just before the second Tyrant encounter. Rebecca pulls Billy to safety after he nearly drowns, and the pair stumble upon a pile of skeletons. Billy then experiences a brief, PTSD-driven flashback of that time he witnessed and failed to prevent a war crime that targeted innocent civliians. The look on his face, along with his irregular breathing as he ignores Rebecca really sold that scene for me.
