RE0 is already a bad game. They couldn’t possibly make it any worse.
Capcom: We've added in more Eliminators, gave the train a lab section, the hookshot will be needed in more areas, Billy is now trans-male, and now you're being pursued by a proto-Nemesis, which is three Eliminators stitched together in a trench coat.

No need to thank us, we always listen to our shills fans.

“And also now there is still no item box AND you must discard items instead of dropping them.”

I think my biggest concern for 0 or 5 if they end up remaking them is Capcom reverting to their worst instincts (as usual) and forgetting the face of their father via adding forced co-op either via AI, local, or Super Easy Online Play™. I know a lot of people loved the co-op in 5 and to each their own, but I'm playing a single-player game because I don't want to play another person or be saddled with a retarded AI as back-up.

The rumour mill is spinning hard currently on 0 but I won't care until we hear proper announcements. Feels like it's been forever since we got a new game but I know it hasn't been that long.

The last thing we need is tankier Elminators that can just eat shotgun blasts and they weigh like 90lbs a piece yet Hunters can be knocked on their ass with it lol.

What I am confused by is is zero the next remake or the next RE game? Because before this week all rumors would be about RE9 and it would be weird to follow up Remake 4 with another remake. I think there is something with the upcoming switch direct that has people thinking RE0 remake will debut on switch 2.

I still am much more interested in RE9 and am hoping its an early 2026 game.

The way these games have operated mostly the last couple years is they'll do a mainline game, and they do a remake, mainline game etc. RE9 should be the next one, but I think 4make made so much money they just wanna stay on that. But there's no stellar hits to remake anymore. I mean 5make would do amazing but it's too soon to shit that out.

If they're remaking anything next, it should be CVX. How are you going to do 5make and not set Wesker up for new players. They just see him as seemingly being alive after RE1 for no reason.

In retrospect, its bizarre that they legit thought "Hey, lets bring that somewhat cliched villain from the first game, the team captain that was a mole? Lets bring him back but now he is like this super soldier! And he is like this mastermind now!"

I hate how retarded that sounds and I hate even more how it actually kind of worked.

word on the street is that they are re remaking the first one for the 30th birthday of the series, but that would be released next year.

I heard that too. I know it'll be the over the shoulder slop, but do it good this time and not another dark hallway sim like 2make.

Leave Lisa Trevor in and everything else from REmake.

sadly they would reduce the number of optional encounters and endings to one simply to solidify canon/to lazy to make more then one ending.
it's still worth to go back to the first one just to see the different things lead to what.

It might be the only beef I have with REmake that the true ending is not in the game. There should've been a new game plus thing like the rebirth ending in SH2 where you can get out of the ending with all four on the helipad fighting Tyrant.

yeah, for years i was convinced the remake just straight out replaced the original, but i am going back to the og so much once i encountered things i thought could not happen.
it also helps that the game has so many variations that almost all ports have something the base game does not have, something that just does not exist these days.

I'm just excited they are making a movie tie in from the same guy who did welcome to racoon city. I want some ambitious 90s ham and cheese action.
Alright I looked into it, they are still making a movie but it's from the critically acclaimed director of barbarians and not the same guy as welcome to racoon. I am happy and sad at the same time.

I believe the original Resident Evil 1 is overall superior to the REmake.

They made the story too linear, losing the feeling of player controlled exploration and pads it out to where it overstays its welcome. There's a flowchart that's probably been posted in this thread comparing the events you can do between the original and REmake. There's more backtracking, Crimson Heads are an annoyance that they force on you yes, I know you don't need to kill zombies if you don't want to by removing guaranteed shotgun headshots, Hunters are weaker, Chimera's are weaker, dogs are more annoying, puzzles are easier. They expanded the mines for some ungodly reason instead of the labs. It feels like it's a fan modded arranged mode rather than a remake. Its bonus content is a big plus I'll give it that.

I like both, but RE1 is just a lot more >fun. Sometimes I just like to clear everything out with the pistol or go around popping heads with the shotgun while starting off in the complete opposite part of the mansion and still finishing at a decent time.

I also feel this way about Remake 2. While overall an amazing game there are changes that I just dont like about it. Its mainly the elimination of the zapping system and elimination of certain enemy types and areas. I think the opening run through the streets of Raccoon city is iconic and the fact that they shortened it down was always kind of a disappointment for me.

But I happen to like Crimson heads and I cant think of anything novel that was added to Remake 2 like Crimson heads or Lisa Trevor.

Dating the fuck out myself here but back in the day in the RE text-based roleplaying/fanfiction community, Bravo Team was one of the most common subjects because people were genuinely interested in the characters' backstories and how shit ended up the way it did for them.
Reddit/Twitter/social media has been the absolute death of stuff like this.

I mean, there's a lot of it in terms of volume, but it's like the next generation of fans since the era you described have had their brains hollowed out (even more). I do not know how to describe the difference.

Probably both because social media has cooked peoples brains and also because of just the speed of social media.... people dont have time to obsess over the strange little details in games when the average game has maybe 3-4 weeks in the spotlight and then it is on to the next product to consume.

We can just love both. I often find myself playing REmake over the original but I do return to the original every so often. The music, the creepy lo res zombie models, the backgrounds, the ham acting. It's legendary.

I just see REmake as an honest god love letter to the original. There's things that do bug me in remake. How the acting is awful. Not the voice actors. But the way they were instructed to deliver lines is very flat. It's the same script for the most part. Peter Jessop as Wesker is the only one I really enjoyed in that one.

Booted up 2make over the weekend. My last save was from a solid year ago.

I really wish I could love the game. The RPD section is solid, even though I think there should be more zombies or other enemies in it. It's a reoccurring problem I think the game has. There's hardly anything in the small boring lab. Only two Lickers? And it's not even the advanced version? Did we really need several Ivys over them?

It also bugs me in the "B" scenario that you're kinda forced to use the new pistol for both characters. Because you can't find reg handgun ammo in the wild when your powders should all be dedicated to your shotgun/nade launcher.
