The mom has an article in 7 so it'll probably be present day. Sucks they'll get rid of the whole bsaa going evil plotline but re has been dropping plotlines since re4. Every re before "we have to stop umbrella!" Luckily Ethan and rose mean less to re then Jake wesker.

Probably for the best. I don't think Capcom had any idea what to do with Rose and Evil BSAA and the last time they tried to merge and continue several different conflicting plot lines into one game we got RE6 which was not very good to put it mildly.

Capcom doesn't even give a shit about RE lore if you go by the last couple mainline entries.

I will say the trailer worked better watching it live without knowing it was an RE announcement as it kept you guessing and in suspense. Once you know its an RE game then most of the trailer is just a dude walking through a government building and talking to his underling.

Crazy people who are more invested than the devs have ever been. Continuity in RE has been fucked for a long time.

Probably for the best. I don't think Capcom had any idea what to do with Rose and Evil BSAA and the last time they tried to merge and continue several different conflicting plot lines into one game we got RE6 which was not very good to put it mildly.

Evil BSAA was a bad idea to begin with. We don't need yet another company going evil using bioweapons to fight bioweapons. That story would inevitably just dissolve into Chris having to blow up Umbrella 2.0 BSAA edition.

The series should really just kind of divorce itself from all that baggage going forward. One of the things I liked so much about 7 was that a lot of that shit was in the back seat for this smaller narrative about a backwater family that had their lives ruined by a rogue Bioweapon.

8's sequel hooks were dropped like a hot rock. Probably for the best.

About RE9 announcement on SGF

I thought it's suspicious that RE7 has resemblance to Silent Hill 2 with Ethan trying to find his wife. Theorized about trilogy of RE games that reimagines Silent Hill games without using Konami ip. Sort of like "If Konami would not do it, we (Capcom) will do it"

Then RE8 released and in that game you play as dad that must go find his daughter.. like in Silent Hill 1.

Now RE9 is announced and in there you play as young woman whose only (i think) parent died from someones hands and you need to come back to city where it all began.. like in Silent Hill 3.

Would be hilarious if Rose is actually Grace that in wanting to lose mold powers and forget the past - changed appearance with mold powers and brainwashed herself into losing her memory thinking that she is someone else, but the past eventually comes back.. like in Silent Hill 3 more or less. Also with the help of lab "buddy's" that pretend to be her co-workers. Like, after that scene with black dude and Grace in the office, black dude pulls up his cellphone and goes -"subject E-165UR is still blablablabla". Maybe that dude with the Hood is not actually that evil and just another subject to experiments that gone rogue and kills everyone involved. And DLC from RE8 was just red hearing to mislead people.

Highly unlikely but the fact that in RE9 you play as young woman whose parent is died from hands of someone and now you need to come back in town where it all began is enough for me to think that it's a common thread running through RE7-8-9 referencing Silent Hill games in their stories.

Also House > Village > Small City evolution is somewhat what was called for from new trilogy in my mind after i played 7.

I really liked Outbreak. The awful AI made it feel like a real B zombie movie. Everyone is too dumb to live but the protagonist you chose. I saw some hilarious deaths. I liked Alyssa. She was kind of a Karen. But in a fun way.

I never played the game online. But as I came to appreciate the "Make your own terrible zombie movie" aesthetic I got out of playing, it wouldn't be the same experience to me.

This game probably was in development since 2020,
Probably they wanted to focus on something new and let Village guys to continue Ethan and Chris story ,same reason nobody want to touch Alex Wesker till the remake team are allowed to do something new (one of the reason I don't want another RE1 remake, I want them return to do no remake stories )
