So it looks like it's both first and third person. That third person can go right into the trash since it was fucking awful in RE8.

Fixed camera is gone for good but first person it at least allows for suspense since you don't have command of the camera at all times.

Also it's going around Leon isn't the main, but you can pretty much gather that from the marketing.

It's Billy, living in racoon city because anywhere else he's going to prison, and now he must defend his property.

I finally have it. The smoking gun against RE1 remake for RE purists and vidya remake ballwashers that isn't just bitching about the unnecessary mechanical changes to make the difficulty artificial and unforgiving or the art style change as good as it looks.

RE1 remake for some reason cut out pretty important and well made Barry encounters in the underground tunnels which determine his fate. Now it's just one obious yes/no decision. They added to his character and I enjoyed earning the scene of him and Jill discovering Enrico. (Impossible in RE1 remake).

They made Jill's run linear and locked more doors.

The amazing and iconic Cradle Of The Grave puzzle (crow room) is gone and replaced with jewelry.

The rope scene with Barry was also watered down just like a modern remake.
In the original if you wait for him to come back instead of exploring the grave marker that leads to the morgue he gives you a secret code for a door that can't be opened otherwise. In the remake this door was cut.

In the original, Rebecca and Barry have numerous instances of being able to die. In the remake it's only one for them.

One of the more tense parts of the mansion I enjoyed in the Director's Cut was the library segment. In the remake it was turned into a fucking boss room. The significant helipad room behind the library is removed in the remake, it was such a RE moment so I have no clue why the devs didn't include it given how they loved showing areas you'd eventually wind up in for 1, 2 and 3.

Gore was severely nerfed due to GC hardware and model complexities or plain laziness. No more decapitations and such from hunters. Forest's corpse is no longer as brutal.

An obscure omission is the Chimeras killing Wesker in one path. "What a miserable death..."

Bonus omission and censorship: they removed the Bible verses in remake.

So much for RE1 remake being "the best remake ever" when it still gimped out on content when compared to a remake like Kirby Superstar Ultra. Let's not even delve into the extra content in the N64 port of RE1 that the remake could have included. And retards still want Capcom to give it another remake? Just imagine how much content they're gonna gimp out on or segments they'll pad out to an unreplayable level. While RE1 remake is a solid game it is a lot less replayable than the originals which is the same sentiment I share for the new wave of remakes.

They said no Leon because they want to move away from extremely combat capable protagonists who take away from the horror.

I think it's a good idea. I played RE8 recently and did all The Duke's requests for completionist sake.

One of them upgraded my block and I was shocked to discover during the final boss fight that Mother Miranda couldn't hurt me.

I'm not exaggerating, I blocked whenever she attacked and it took like 5-6 attacks to bring my health from green to orange, I was basically invulnerable.

Yes I know Ethan is a humanoid BOW so there's sort of a lore reason for this, but two superhumans clobbering each other like a Marvel movie is dumb and I'm glad Capcom recognized this and hit the breaks.

I can understand that, but we haven't play as one of the legacy characters as the main since 2012. It's kinda ridiculous we keep playing as nobodies. If we're still doing that, at least make them cool.

Ethan is a beta fag. And Grace is dollar store Rose.

I do appreciate that want to go back to horror again after the wet fart that was RE8.

They should have made one of the lesser legacy characters the protagonist this time around. Like Billy or Jake. Hell if they wanted an FBI agent as the protag isn't Sherry Birkin literally one in RE6?

I agree. There's an entire stable of secondary characters that could come back, but they prefer generic slop girl.

resident evil is a retarded ip and they going for muh realism is retarded. for horror there is silent hill. for cheesy action movie game there is resident evil
God forbid the fans get what they ask for. No. We'll likely get another generic modernslop horror game that could be under any other IP.

I came around on RE7 to enjoy it, but it's very much RE in name only. RE8 is just RE4 with a new coat of paint. And that paint, is feces.

I don't mind 4make, but it's jank shooting is horrible. Intentionally kneecapping you for being too good at the game. Adaptive gameplay is fucking gay.

RE4make had Dark Souls 2 grabs where attacks will blatantly miss you but because the invisible hit box is so huge it will awkwardly snap to Leon's character model and connect anyways it looks horrible.

I was streaming when it first came out and I have one clip where an old cunt rushed me with a pitchfork and you can see her miss me by like a foot and end up behind me and then it just smash cuts to Leon being gored.

I actually downloaded the original to test it and it seems to be an issue unique to the remake.

Adaptive gameplay kills replayability compared to the original especially with the forced gun sway. I'm aware the original sort of has its moments but it was built around the superior controls and a far better resource system + economy (imo). Play good? You're rewarded. Have shinies. Play like dogshit? Have some ammo and health.

4 remake's weapon upgrade paths are a tedious fucking slog just to acquire what you want and I have no clue why they didn't just go the OG or RE2R route where you just acquire the part upgrades eventually. Oh I know why, because 4 is way too long and has ((optional content)) they wanted to shoehorn so you have extra resources to worry about which in turn made the economy a shittier clusterfuck and shell of its original self. I'm aware 8 introduced this niggeraids but it's awful. Genuinely.

I actually enjoyed RE8 more than RE7. Rented 7 for the PS4 and bought 8 when a third person mode was released and on a Christmas sale.

I was excited for 9 until i saw the video from Capcom that showed more information on 9. And i’m not thrilled playing a scaredy cat woman. And this is a universe that has several bad ass women.

Give me a game with Chris Redfield and Ada Wong doing black ops type shit for whatever company they work for.

I guess the idea of creating a Fallout/Stalker like in post apocalyptic Raccoon City would be too cool, so instead we are going to get more first person streamer bait "horror" slop, but now Ethan has tits. Fantastic, thank goodness I'm not interested in the slightest and can completely ignore it. At least RE8 had some interesting ideas and would have been a great RE4 styled game, too bad it only half-assed both the horror and the action segments so it ended up being an incoherent mess.
Also, what happened to Ethan's daughter? Weren't they setting her up to be the next protagonist? Why play as some random intern? So she can be scared of the haunted house monsters in the member berry RE2 land?

I mean RE2 remake also cut out a bunch of shit but people still generally liked it. Turns out most people don't care about small changes like this and would prefer a smoother core experience(and better graphics). That's why with RE1 and RE2 it's not really that simple, both original and remastered games are completely different and you should experience both of them. RE3 and RE4 is where the games are just straight up inferior to the originals, but at least RE4 remake tried to be faithful(altho it failed). However, the gameplay of RE4R simply isn't as engaging and it doesn't bring enough new features to make playing it worthwhile over the original, especially when you consider it also censors/takes out a lot of content. What RE4R did bring was...stealth, durability for your knife, fucking side quests for the merchant? Oh and you have to pay for the OG music as DLC and you have real life currency for the Mercenary Mode(that wasn't even with the game at launch).

Nah, RE1R and RE2R are fine, RE4R and especially RE3R show just how much worse it could be.

It's a shame Operation Raccoon City bombed, there is so much potential for a spec-ops tactical shooter game in this setting. Give me more lore about the setting and less memberberries, make the cameos feel earned. Co-Op would actually make sense here too, instead of shoe-horning it like they did with RE5.
