Wow. This was fucking pathetic. Nothing new shown. Just an overpriced watch and a porsche ad and a reminder the game runs like crap without upscaling. Capcom being an ad whore is nothing new but it's been awhile since it was this egregious. Shows real confidence in your product when you refuse to release a demo for it.

I always like perusing the main RE subreddit after something like this releases to see the Redditoid hogs line up at the trough for some more slop. Every time I try to consume content regarding modern AAA gaming, I'm reminded of just how dead it is yet it continues to make money hand over fist.

I'm fucking pissed they didn't release a demo. I wanted to play it early, even if there's not that much.
Given how much more action-oriented Leon's parts are, here's hoping we don't get a repeat of this in them.

XD
The Leon segments look like improved RE4 gameplay.

It feels like we have another RE6 situation on our hands here in that they're trying to placate everyone with a mixed bag of crap. Apparently the original idea was turn Leon into a timid bitch (but thankfully shot down because it's fucking stupid) so they instead created Grace but that's also stupid because there's nothing interesting about playing a timid character in a RE game. I imagine her sections will only be about a third of the game since capcom has no balls to make a full survival horror title anymore and programming unique behaviors for every zombie is probably very costly. Since REmake 4 they keep aping ideas from The Evil Within too like the syringe and item crafting. I don't hate those games but their mechanics don't really add anything to an RE title.

So just more Leon OTS gameplay with a hatchet you'll have to sharpen every two minutes. Why would I pay full price for this? Also, what's the point of a first person mode if you have no intention of making a VR mode for the game?

The remakes themselves are a poor ape of revelations 2 without what makes it fun or replayable. This looks like what RE4 demake should have been gameplay wise but ended up being a sluggy turd instead compared to the OG. The cancer all began with RE1's shitty GameCube remake because it was made with poor intentions and likely just as a way to sell the console and 0. The design of RE1 directors cut is an excellent adventure and the remake slows the progression to a fucking crawl while overcomplicating things by adding in new mechanics, also altering puzzles for mostly worse. Just because it's darker and prettier doesn't mean the horrible changes to it are justified, also cut out cool rooms like the observation deck to gaze out into the lab facility, cut out cool Barry interactions, I can go on.

Also monkey paw curled for people who wanted Outbreak or outbreak characters.
Requiem makes no sense already... It's taking place after 6 which I thought was something they did a reboot over? So where's the more interesting characters like Jake the son of Wesker, where's the mention of BOWs instead of Bioweapons, where's the insane mutations and fun fights that 6 offered? Semi-Intelligent zombies have already been done in the series.

If this takes place after 6 there's nothing meaningfully continuing that game as much of a shit show as the story was it was at least entertaining. The only thing I see continuing from 6 is sexy grey fox Leon. None of the characters of 6 seem important. If Leon is working with the same organization you'd think there'd be more to it.

RE4 remake added unnecessary lore and subtracted a lot of things that were fine as they were. In fact it ruins the lore more now than 5 or 6 did. They gonna address it? No. So now there's just no fucking point to rebooting the series with remakes. Thanks Capcom for wasting years of work and downgrading the gameplay of the series for about a decade while killing MT Framework for this tech demo slop. Only thing positive I have to say about requiem is the blood looks really good and splatters a way I like.

Survival Horror is beyond dead at this point. It's been decayed and morphed into something unrecognizable, always with unfun "innovations" rather than an enjoyable and scary experience. Just look at map or level design itself. Those make or break it. It's all gone down the shitter. Some think re2 remake was great but if you replay it, count how many times you're just walking from point A to B with Ada or whoever like it's some fucking Sony movie game compared to the original. Compare the design of REVII's mansion to any game after. There's something missing.

The fact that remains of even a single building in Raccoon are intact is also really stupid. The whole city is clearly wiped off the map in 3 but capcom's lack of creativity drags us back there. The latest pics of the crater also make no sense. You'd think the japs of all people would know what a city hit by a missile looks like.

It at least lives on in newer indie titles and fan patched versions of the classics' PC ports (despite capcom's efforts). The sudden deluge of titles in the past couple of years leads credence to the idea that people still want those types of games.

even if we say it was a Nuke, its not a fucking world destroyer, yal have a wild idea of how much one nuke would do.

Indie is dogshit and falls into the plagiarism trap and limited inventory difficulty trap with piss poor balancing. Name one game that actually holds a candle to old titles that isn't Signalis and you'll run out very fast.

The demand only exists because of mainstream horror appeal not the fondness for meaningful systems and mechanics that would build a great game. Survival Horror has become a stepchild and what's taken its place is resident evil clones. Remake culture also kills it further. Its all recycled garbage that's been done before. The innovations here are stifled. It's a Taxidermy genre. It can look like survival horror but the soul isn't there. Look at the alone in the dark reboot that everyone forgot about. You'll never get games like Clocktower, the Resident Evil or SILENT HILL trilogy again and if you do it's made by some tranny who makes everything about itself.

Resident Evil 4 and Haunting Ground were the last decent experiences in the genre. It's all downhill. The demand means nothing when it comes from people who can't criticize for shit and people who've only experienced the modernization of survival horror rather than the roots it came from. A faggot can say they love survival horror all they want to but look into what they actually know about the genre that isn't surface level bullshit or opinions they got from video essayists like super eye patch wolf.

Having looked at some official screens it's now obvious capcom is going with the raccoon city from the remakes, which is modeled after Montreal. I always thought it was dumb they made the city so much larger when it's supposed to be some small midwestern town. It's not like you got to see a lot more of the city either.

So yeah, they're basically ignoring canon so they can have multiple cities in one game (going right back into RE6 territory).

To each their own. Your choices now are either overpriced triple A garbage or indie games. The latter at least has gameplay that doesn't bore me to tears and is reasonably priced. I finished Signalis and Conscript awhile back and while I like their mechanics I felt they just don't quite nail the atmosphere as well as stuff I've played recently like Echoes of the Living and Ground Zero. Phase Zero is another one but the demo for that was fairly short so I dunno how well it will turn out yet. Hollow Body is another one I need to get back to along with Heartworm.

I've never played Haunting Ground but RE4 is definitely not survival horror. 4 is certainly one of the best action games ever made but 0 was the last classic game to be in that genre until 7. If they'd actually tried harder with 7 it could have been great but it was too half-assed.

Plot twist: You're not returning to Racoon City, you're going back to Tall Oaks.

It's sad that Capcom is now allergic to silly. They stripped all the goofy shit from RE4MAKE and if Code Veronica ever gets remade all the soul is going to be censored or stripped out.

The ridiculous Nazi iconography everywhere

Steve's insanely stupid looking gold plated Deagle

The villain being a tranny
Um ackshually, those are Lugers.

Claire is transphobic, Leon is a Nazi. What's next for the Resident Evil character roster?
White Supremacist Ada &/or Sheva. Will sell like hotcakes amongst the urban ABG crowd & countrysides.

I'm not even joking, it can unironically make a new niche market of gaming.

I will give credit where it's due, the Requiem Revolver & the outfits look cool as fuck.

However, Capcom can't even do ad-whoring right. Leon deserved better than a Cayenne, he's not a rich soccer mom. Anything less than a 911 GT3 RS is an insult. Even a Panamera or Taycan would've been better.

Also, why is there not even a demo. Somehow the showcase video is extremely glitchy (foreshadowing?) & half of it is an ad that might as well would've made the entire thing an email.
Obligatory

its size as "Small" has always been suspect.

it has a Precinct the likes of New York could only dream of, it has a Hospital with like 15 floors, it has a fucking giant Clock Tower, it has a GOD DAMN ZOO.

Racoon City has the trappings of a big city in a "small" area space.

Gameplay overview from that event-thingie I didn't bother to watch.
Some of the zombies will retain some characteristics from they were still alive. It's an attribute which gets shunned nowadays in zombie media for being a tad goofy (last big example I can think of it being used is in Shaun of the Dead) but was in Dawn of the Dead way back when. They even speak, so I'm wondering if it'll end up being used for more than a gameplay gimmick.

That Leon gameplay looked fun. Grace's gameplay looks like more of 7, and if you liked 7 then you'll like her parts. The Requiem (tm) pistol is meant to be the "in a pinch" weapon she gets but I see myself hoarding bullets for it just in case of a boss.

I think the game will be good. Not below a 7/10.

Not really. Until capcom started drastically changing things with the remakes, Raccoon was basically Springfield, Missouri.

Cant wait for my favorite streamer to shit on this game.
Angry Pat? Guy used to have a taste for survival horror but now he's just a pathetic capcom shill.

Buddy I live in a small town, Racoon City, just with Re 2 and 3 has the trappings of a big city in a small package, which makes sense, Umbrella made it big.
No real small quiet town would have a clock tower that opulent same with the RPD
