People are sick of bad art design that breaks immersion for the sake of hand holding people when there's better ways to do it. Yellow paint can be used on stuff like ladders, but RE9 uses it all over the place because it's lazy. Designers can use light sources, easy but impossible to progress without tutorials where the character says "Hmm, I could break that" or have an enemy show you it's possible to do something. But instead they slop yellow every where because it stands out.
The lazy part is using yellow for everything, a fire escape is bright red for a reason, there's no reason to make it yellow, or to wrap every destructible crate in yellow tape.

Even Noseisis had that shit on him.

Like why does super human Wesker go blind when lights are turned off?
I know it's a means to an end because Wesker was pretty much omnipotent, but they could've come up with something a little more convincing. The guy who had light up magic eyes can't see with the lights dimmed slightly. OK.
That one is mercifully short at least but yeah I'm sick of these on rails generic horror sequences at the very least they need to let you skip them on repeat playthroughs. It's cheap horror for stupid people to rob them of weapons and have scripted movement with insta kills. Like Sh2 has a disarming sequence but the game isn't suddenly cheating to create the illusion of being defenseless the mechanics were left in tact.
It is short. But 90% of it feels like you're just waiting to move and you feel every fucking second of it. It offers zero to the plot and could've been a 30 second cutscene of Zeno explaining the clones lives. But no, we need more evil kids with bare feet imagery.

I came up with it 2 seconds after I read this. It should've been turning lights on so his super human cat eyes got blinded cause theyre too sensitive.

That's actually a brilliant idea. His senses are superhuman, so dimming them is just moronic. He's probably got eyes a lot like Riddick's. Which would further validate why he's always wearing glasses after the Mansion, even though it's just his thing.

Oh yeah its extra stupid cause he could take his shades off to see better in the dark... He was too worried he wouldn't look cool...

Even distorted, he could still throw fists through chests with this. It's always going to be mega retarded this is how he was beaten.
I think he was on something to heighten his powers as he was faster and stronger than in CV, anything that destabilized it would massively fuck him up .
A victim of his own strive for godhood, seeing as he could never lose to anything they really could do to him but his own hubris

It may be the switch up between consoles but I always felt Wesker in RE5 felt very lethargic compared to his CVX counterpart. I think the implication might be that Wesker, despite his superhuman powers, was in the same position as Spencer in the flashback: Global underworld empire, apocalyptic ambitions on the verge of success, but a failing body. Even without the ouroboros infection and double rocket decapitation Wesker wasn't long for this world. That's also why hes so pissed at Chris. Chris proves that had he not thrown away his humanity he probably would've won already. Or maybe that's just the DMC fan in me talking.

That game DOES NOT have tank controls.
you're still steering Leon left and right with the left stick and have to move forward to go anywhere.
if you hold left Leon is going to keep turning left in place. I even fired up RE2 remake, holding left moves Leon left that's free movement. I can also steer Leon with the camera stick
you can't do that in OG RE4

if you have to TURN YOUR CHARACTER to go where you want to go and then press forward, that's tank controls.
RE4 has the same controls as God Hand, someone who never played a game with tank controls will struggle a tiny bit if they're not used to
this concept of physically turning your character on the left stick, very little right stick use, and having the camera locked behind you at all times.

You can't strafe
A core concept for Tank controls is the character position taking priority over the camera.
if I place the camera in front of Leon and move forward towards it, the camera's position wouldn't change what direction Leon is going.
it would for a game without tank controls where the camera takes priority over character position.

that's not to say either are bad/better, it's just makes you think about your movement in a different context, and allows for more cinematic shots during gameplay.
which is fucking weird when modern AAA cinematic people would call it "too gamey" when Devs and Artists have too much say in what you're looking at all times.

Modern RE relies on cutscene jumpscares and invincible stalkers, whereas old RE could fuck with you via brilliant camera angles.

The more I see of RE9, the more it looks like a quasi-testing ground for an RE1 remakeremake. Hear me out, when RE3make released there was a new enemy type created by N(os)emesis which could only be described as "proto-las plagas".

I believe this was Capcom working out the basic framework of what would become the RE4make las plagas tentacle heads. Unlike RE3make which was basically a greedy afterthought, RE4make was a game Capcom absolutely couldn't flub in their usual way, it had to succeed. So they put their A Team fresh off of RE2make onto 4, and let the B Team hand 3make. I believe a remake of 1, which is still legendary, is another game Capcom scarcely wants to fuck up (though I don't think they could ever top it).

So what do we see in RE9? Well, you've got an Asylum and gameplay loop which runs similarly to RE1 (though many RE games have this formula). You have a giant spider battle complete with babies, almost like a Black Tiger test. You have a literal little-girl-to-indestructible-monster-stalker enemy ala Lisa Trevor. And of course you have knockoff Crimson Heads in the blister heads... Sure, this could all be a case of throwing RE shit at the wall to see what sticks, but going by RE3make to 4make I don't believe that is the case. I think Capcom is experimenting with how well these things will work in the RE engine, and trying to work out the kinks in preparation for their usage in a future REmake remake.

Not a huge stretch since the asset reuse is definitely there in modern RE games. Not that I am criticizing it's probably pretty smart and allows them to turn these games out like clockwork. I do think though that it is the other way around. That Crimson heads influence Blister heads.

I remember 5 having the same controls as 4. Can you strafe in it?
Yes, the left stick moves without rotation allowing omnidirectional strafing and the camera is operated independent of that.

No... a core concept of tank controls is that your character... moves like a tank. Tanks can pivot and move forward and back.
