No... a core concept of tank controls is that your character... moves like a tank. Tanks can pivot and move forward and back.
I'm explaining Tank controls like a designer would with the thought process of:
telling someone to Design a chair, vs Design something you sit on. would give drastically different possible outcomes and ways of thinking.

I'm making the point that the camera is divorced from your movement and that definition opens the door for more/different design possibilities.
plus that is the core issue people that never played a game with Tank controls have. it's how they're thinking about movement. and everything being dependent
where the character is facing, that is a core concept of tank controls.

same with how drawing isn't just scribbling on paper. control schemes isn't just pressing buttons,
it's thinking.

A core concept for Tank controls is the character position taking priority over the camera.
if I place the camera in front of Leon and move forward towards it, the camera's position wouldn't change what direction Leon is going.
it would for a game without tank controls where the camera takes priority over character position.

that's not to say either are bad/better, it's just makes you think about your movement in a different context, and allows for more cinematic shots during gameplay.
which is fucking weird when modern AAA cinematic people would call it "too gamey" when Devs and Artists have too much say in what you're looking at all times.
No tank controls literally just means you cannot strafe. That your movements are locked between moving forward and backward and spinning left or right. Re4 factually has tank controls. If you hit left and you move left. You don't have tank controls. If you hit left and you spin in a circle counter clockwise, you do. That is the definition. You're confusing fixed camera angles which is a camera feature with tank controls which are a movement feature purely because 9/10 tank controls are superior to nontank controls for fixed camera angles while having the ability to strafe is better in games that are over the shoulder. Re4 had tank controls but they weren't the best mode of control for over the shoulder. But they absolutely are for fixed camera games. Which is why I turn the control scheme to tank on in the ports of remake and 0 as well as tormented souls.

I didn't dislike Grace as much as a lot of people seemed to but I will admit during the Leon segments I kept wondering why it wasn't just 10-12 hours of that.

Because they needed to at least keep a bit of RE 7/8 DNA in this third "trilogy" because the gameplay and theme of each remained consistent to the end, even if the quality in the execution might have decreased

1-3 Survival Horror
4-6 Action Horror
7-9 "FPS" Horror (I guess)

To have it suddenly switch fully to a different style more befitting the remakes would be "inconsistent" and I think Capcom was just trying to please both sides, never mind the fact that they seem to be trying to make Grace sections lean more towards RE7 than 8 given how a complaint some threw at it is how action heavy it got after a point.

Who knows what RE10 will lean towards as I can imagine there will be a significant change in gameplay.
Even Noseisis had that shit on him.

Why everytime I see this version of him, I can just imagine Squidward doing the "This is not art" *stick a nose on it* "THERE! Now its art" meme

What was wrong with this ? 1773540231467.png

Capcom have been chasing trends. Action horror is becoming more popular again with a lot of fixed camera RE/Silent hill clones. But they can't abandon their remake fans. So we have this shitty abomination that can't make up it's mind. It has to be a walking sim, it has to be remake style, but also Silent hill clones are popular. So it's all a cluster fuck where Capcom don't know where the market is going and couldn't band wagon it (as RE7 did).

One thing I'm disappointed about is that the feature from both RE8 and RE4MAKE where you'd go on little side quests/treasure hunts to an optional area to fight some optional enemies or solve an optional puzzle to get some loot was completely cut in favor of a crate that just gives you shit for killing enemies which is way more boring.

I understand this was probably on purpose because Capcom thought it would to be too weird or out of place to be finding random jeweled scepters or crowns in a nursing home or the ruins of Racoon City but I hope they bring that back for future games.

Shit was fun.

is it any weirder than a wrist band that counts your kills and gives you more money for it? Such a strange system and it could have been used for a monster hunt. Go kill the licker for 10,000 money is an easy side quest

No the crate replaces the merchant. Also I'm glad they removed sidequests in re9 because its a game that has a time limit, so if Leon was goofing off shooting emblems it'd take away from the stakes of the story. Also there's nobody there to request his services, who would be putting in requests?

But also this leads to another topic which is I'm tired of all the new games incorporating all the side mechanics rather than using them when relevant. Village and RE4MAKE both have crafting, shop, one use keys for locks to reward memory and make backtracking valuable, treasures with combination to reward holding out for the next piece, upgrades AND attachments.

A lot of these systems overlap and the genius of the original 4's shop was how every item you picked up was ammo, weapon, health or money and how the shop existed to funnel the first 3 into money which already was a conversion of resources into other resources. Crafting on top of this just doesn't make sense. You're never gonna sell crafting materials and now you can even buy ammo something which re4(original) handled by dynamically supplying you with what you as you used it. It's too much, these games need to decide what does work well within that specific entry as well as what does not. Like how RE3make excluded knife degradation or how crafting made a lot of sense in 7 when you're scrounging around a rotting house for supplies and left on your own. Imagine if there was a merchant in 7 it'd ruin the atmosphere. Likewise crafting doesn't make sense in 8, why is there gunpowder all over the place?

So I have to ask, is there ACTUALLY nothing special about Grace? because while Victor seems to come to the conclusion that she's just a regular girl and the Spencer video makes it sound like its true...
She survives a bite from a T-Virus infected cop, she basically goes swimming in infected blood, and Victor impales her on a Nemesis Tentacle, which infected Jill with a highly potent version of T-Virus.

not only does she not get infected, she also just walks off being impaled through the lower intestine.

Just got through Requiem a couple days ago, and going through again.
I like Grace. I hope she's not an Ashley and forgotten about. I do hope however she stops being a pussy and stammering through sentences
"Wh-what um... uh.. d-do you m-mean"
My reaction through her entire scenes

Also Emily made me more invested. Maybe a paternity instinct if that's a thing but I don't like hearing children cry or express genuine fear. I'd rather play a game carrying Emily to safety than say a Spider-Man game with a boring ass Mary Jane stealth mission.

In my opinion a good resident evil game should be 85 percent serious, and 15 percent camp

That was probably my main issue from RE8.

You fight vampires, and werewolves, and Bioshock soldats, and the muscle dommy mommy turns into a fucking dragon and starts flying around and cackling like a Disney villain and after you murder the foid you fight magneto with a Gundam mech and the fish man made fart noises when he walked.

Like even for a Resident Evil game it had absolutely insane tonal whiplash from one scene to the next.

Still the best boxart. I'd argue the only thing truly campy about REmake is the Jill sandwich line and killing the big bad with a rocket launcher. Compared to looney toons shit like RE4 or RE8 or any game where Leon is quipping everywhere, REmake is super serious. Everything is played straight, your allies are dropping dead, other allies are betraying you, the tone is super dark, the flavor text is haunting, Lisa Trevor is a walking depression fest, and those god damn chimera have some of the nastiest designs/lore in the series.

Less than 6 days for the 30th anniversary.

My expectations if capcom still have any inch of interest to revive more classics even if it's a port or remake:

  1. Code Veronica (Port untouched) Because for obvious reasons capcom is not based anymore to include on the remake, Claire roast over alfred's state of mind being messed up
  2. RE classics ports like OutBreak, Dead Aim, UC chronicles, darkside chronicles.
  3. Fresh RE title but reusing characters from previous games: Sheva, Jake, Rebecca etc...
Besides the baby metal collab and the anniv orchestra world tour they're doing, can't tell what else they could be looking to announce. But if anything better be more ports support because I'm tired of remakes not appealing & respecting the original game vision.

I wish they'd remake 5. 5 wasn't a bad game at all and that game especially could use the remake treatment.
I just wish Capcom weren't pussies, All the people that are going to throw a tantrum over the "White savior in africa" shit aren't going to buy it anyway. If you remake it, the fans of the original will buy it. The only people that will boycott it are faggots that weren't going to buy it anyway so by caving in to them you're only hurting yourselves. The wants of the fans should be always be more important than the demands of the people that hate you no matter what.

Or you can go ahead and market to the MoDeRn AuDiEnCe and see how those fucking fags turn up.

I wonder if they're holding off on CV remaster/remakes simply because they dont know how to handle the tranny Alfred in the first part of the game. (He's actually schizo but you know how troons go.)
