He can both feel bad about how Raccoon City went down, and also want to evolve humanity and be a ruthless asshole, for Spencer, it was never about money or making weapons, he thought he could stack enough bodies on the road to progress and get immortal super humans, but well all he got was bodies.

He never demonstrated, not even in his private diary, any sort of regret or pity for any of his actions and their victims, only seeing R.C's outbreak and destruction as a tragedy for him and his company as now the US government will be desperate to throw both under the bus after the public starts demanding answers and blood. Not even in his final moments he demonstrates any sort of feeling beyond narcissism, claiming that his own mortality was a disease and he was suppose to be the god of a new race of ubermench...

An idea Wesker decided to "borrow" just to spite him beyond the grave.

My point is that this is a massive and, lets face it, moronic retcon because it is almost begging to have you forget that Spencer had the daughter of the creator of his mansion get horrifically experimented, tortured and left to roam around as an undying ever suffering creature.

Resident Evil is clearly going through the problem most long running franchises go through, both running out of ideas AND retconning previously established canon for the sake of new "revelations".

Also I personally hope this is the last time we see Leon for a while in the main series because I just want to play as Jill Valentine (but then again, if they are going with pancake ass, maybe it is best to not bother) as there is def. a plot here about trauma over what happened to her in RE 5 and the closest thing we get to it is a note from her in Revelations 2 to Barry over how she is looking forward to returning to the front lines after the battery of exams and therapy are over with.

Im ok with Claire not coming back (altho I hate the lack of any reference whatsoever) because she isnt a combatant by choice but only by circunstance but Jill has no in universe excuse and knowing her personality, she wouldnt let what happened in RE5 force her to quit.

I hope we see more of Claire. I actually want to see some character progression. She seemed really happy and in her lane at the end of Requiem, maybe make her a less stuttering Stacey in the next one.
But knowing Capcom they'll completely abandon her character like so many others.

Side note, I'm surprised at the lack of bitching about the lack of blacks in Requiem. There was 3. FBI boss, Helicopter pilot, and the lady zombie that kissed and bit the nose of that guy.
I was thinking Capcom might be keeping Sheva in their back pocket for such an occasion

Double posting, sorry.
But gonna start an insanity run on Requiem, any tips?

to be completely clear, by the point of the time B.O.W.'s were a goal, he had very little oversight in the company, almost all of the idea of making monsters to sell as weapons, came from Birkin, before that they were just going to make killer viruses to make the money.
as Evil as he is, Spencer likely dissasociated the insanity of the B.O.W.'s and mutagenic monster viruses as something the new breed fucked up and ruined his goals, more than having any sort of direct guilt feelings for it.
He was absolutely willing to experiment and torture people, but I doubt he had the mind for mass chaos like Raccoon City Incident, and even still I don't think he really felt TOO broken up about it, that's just something Grace says, Victor says the opposite, the likely real answer is a bit of both their interpretations, he likely felt bad for the kids thing, hence Grace, but didn't really feel bad about all the other deaths paved along the way.

I don't view this game as absolving or interjecting any new guilt, people can feel bad about certain aspects of things they did, and have no feelings whatsoever about others, Spencer came across as cold and unfeeling, but not a rabid monster.

The shit he did to the Trevor family was just a prank.

Damn. RE5 and 2R over CVX? One's a completely different genre from CVX and 2R is just the original game run though the modernization blender and worse for it. I'd take Code Veronica over either any day. And 0 the same tier as 6? I feel like the hatred for 0 is something invented in the past decade since a lot of people either didn't exist back in 2002 or didn't own a gamecube when it was released. It still sold another million copies when it got rereleased 14 years later. At least the game doesn't take nearly as long to finish as 6 and you can mod in coop now if that's your thing.

I'd bump 4R down to an A since it's mostly just 4 again but watered down. Requiem did feel like a B until Raccoon City where the game mostly shits itself. I agree with the rest but I'd probably give 6 a D. I still haven't played Village yet.

if you don't have infinite ammo you're gonna want to buy a shotgun and rifle with ammo as soon as you start leon's section just so you don't have to kite everything in the opening once you run out of pistol ammo
good luck with them blisterheads

I rage quit during the grace section at the beginning.
I already got all the trophies beside the insanity one. I don't need to piss my self off for a trophy.

I'm past the care center and onto the second leon section on insanity, currently getting annoyed at being OHKO'd by Chunk's charge because i keep fucking up my retreats.
Grace's section isn't bad once you get used to juking zombies- but they still pursue you for ridiculous lengths of the care center. also switching the first pistol drop from the dining room floor to the lounge was bullshit. I thought I'd have a bad time when you're forced to hold out against like 5 zombies in the isolation ward after escorting emily but it wasn't so bad.
Standard was almost too easy, I wound up ending the game with tons of ammo as leon and shitloads of healing items as grace.

Code Veronica feels like complete ass to play and depending on my mood I'll put it under Zero.

Zero has been bad since the beginning and it's not some new thing. There's a reason it killed the old approach to the series when it was bungled so badly.

4R is good aside from the complete ass reticle bloom.

Requiem is a human centipede of two completely different games sewn together.

Village is trash. The one game of the series I'll never ever return to.

I do shift this list around slightly, but S would always be REmake-4 with 4R going down here and there. RE1 is only A because REmake exists.

if they do remake code veronica and zero. I hope theres a lot of differences and variations from the originals. re4make just felt like a shiny reskin of the originl with the humour removed. When I want to play re4 I just play the original now.

for code veronica they should just keep the story set on the prison island. the whole thing with flying to the antarctic seemed silly to me.

I mostly agree, the only alterations would be Village being maybe B or C. Maybe Zero deserves to be B

Maybe Village and Zero should be in a B-/C+ category.
nor did ever fuck a kid.

That we are aware of, you never know, retcons and all. Maybe he was part of the island club.:story:

For now all we know is that he fucked UP a lot of kids but hey, he kind of treated one with decency once so...
He's likely morally superior to alot of the people who run our government, they just don't have access to magical Mutagenic viruses and 9 foot tall grey bio weapons to drop on Iran.

We all know that the most realistic thing about the RE universe is the government being extremely corrupt, ruled by old money families and very much involved in the creation, selling and usage of BOWs, throwing the private sector under the bus if something gets exposed.

Your expectations about crapcom just as everyone must be negative -1000000000 bro.

There's no way they keep the crossdressingfreak.mp4 apart if they don't cut shit for the likes of it out from CVR or the obvious removal of rebecca's iconic Red Cross on her uniform because it's a protected shitty symbol.

The days were capcom used to be based & have taste in RE quality games been over since RE3R + RE2R and that's a hill i gladly like to die on.

Dead Rising Deluxe Demaster alas it's another fail to prove how they outsource an iconic franchise to the chinks in order to censor, butcher and legit put AI Slop on it even. My expectations on any decent RE game (besides Requiem which was fair) are just not happening.
