The only acceptable RE4 remake would be a purely visual one. Update it to RE2 fidelity and leave the rest well enough alone.

They didn't announce the RE2 stuff til like a month afterwards IIRC. I'd be kinda shocked if they didn't give any single-player DLC after all the criticism the game has received in terms of length.Only DLC incoming is for Resistance.
I'll believe it when I see it.

Oh boy can't wait for more cut content in the name of realism
Hasn’t there been talk of 8 or a 4 remake that uses the hallucination mechanic from the original RE4 demo? The lack of an alternate campaign really hurt replayability if only to spice things up a little bit because in the end you were always following the same exact linear path from start to finish. The new random spawn locations helped a little bit but by that point I'd already ran through the game thrice (first run on hardcore, then 1-herb and no box runs on standard and assisted) so I just ended up cheesing it with the rocket launcher. I'd give the game (minus Project Res since I haven't touched that at all) a 7 or 7.5 but definitely only at a much lower price than 50-60 bucks. It could really help if they copied what they did with RE2 and put out free DLC which could elevate it only in this case hopefully even more of it though with assets already tied up in PR anything more than what we got with 2make seems unlikely.
Ideally CVmake will be more like 2 was and they'll have the brains not to try and do anything with any of the others. 4 is about as perfect as games can get and god only knows how the fuck 5 or 6 would work and 1 or 0 would just be going backwards which wouldn't make sense.
So basically we are going to control "plank of wood serious" Leon from the RE CGI movies and RE 6?I predict that RE4make will be two thirds as long as the original and be made completely serious with none of the charming goofyness it had before.
Actually no. Resident Evil 8 is (supposedly):So basically we are going to control "plank of wood serious" Leon from the RE CGI movies and RE 6?
Oh fuck me...
Maybe because he’s still technically Molded? Neo-Umbrella or whatever Chris is part of might have Ethan on hand because they think a minor healing factor/possible resistance to other infections might be useful for when things get weirder; or they can’t release him back into society because god knows what that would do if it spread without a controlling entity. You know, how do they expect Ethan to work as a main character again? He isn't a BOW fighter like Chris and Leon, he just barely survived and I doubt he would receive training to become a bad ass when he already has a life outside of this BOW non sense. Hopefully his inclusion doesn't feel forced...then again, the other option would be to play as plank of wood Leon or just-got-off-the-steroids Chris (since the series pretty much orbits those two now).
I wished we could play as Jill again (the real Jill and not Remake 3 Jill who honestly felt less mature than Claire.. )
Edit
Ah yes I remember that they also said that RE8 may or may not piss off fans. That sounds very Rian Johnson ish or Alex kurtzman ish, so when fans hate it they can claim it was intentional in some weird attempt to save face. If that true, Capcom may be on the way of destroying the good faith they have built with RE7 and RE2...
I get that but you would think the BSAA and Blue Umbrella (Neo Umbrella were the idiots in RE 6) would have already given him a cure just like Mia. Besides, Ethan's healing factor was nowhere near as close to Jack Baker's (unless it somehow evolves to that). RE 7 and Not a Hero did foreshadow this underground organization thats creating and selling BOWs (and not beyond working with psychos like Lucas Baker) so I can see Mia coming back since she was working for them... (sure, she changed her mind and wanted to quit but it was far too late) so I can see Mia kind of striking up a deal to not have her arrested but rather "forced" to be an informant on their dealings. As for Ethan, hopefully they have him more fleshed out because Ethan is easily one of the weakest aspects of RE7, he just felt like a silent protagonist even tho he wasnt suppose to be one, meaning he just didnt react like anyone is expected to react.Maybe because he’s still technically Molded? Neo-Umbrella or whatever Chris is part of might have Ethan on hand because they think a minor healing factor/possible resistance to other infections might be useful for when things get weirder; or they can’t release him back into society because god knows what that would do if it spread without a controlling entity.
He'd could work as the old grizzled commander of the BSAA that trains and advises our new generation of protagonists and maybe helps out at the end in a one last hurrah type moment. You have him as the battlefield commander looking through binoculars until the end of the game where he shows up to help you against the big bad but gets a horrible wound that forces him out of field duty and into a desk at HQ from that point on.Chris is meant to be in his 50's by the time RE8, I know he is as healthy as a stud with all his gummy flinstone steroid vitamins but they cant expect us to buy he will still be doing this for very long (given RE is meant to be at least SOMEWHAT realistic outside of all the monsters).
Preferably one that continues the Redfield bloodline through Claire and Leon.Chris doesn't need to retire like he hinted in RE 6 he just needs some actual successors to hand the torch to.

At the same time if they keep minimizing the action and focusing on horror they can still get more mileage out of Chris. Kind of like Barry in Revelations 2.
