RE4 still holds up, I replay it every year or so, so I'm skeptical about remaking it. That said, seeing RE2 remake Leon in RE4 remake might bring back that giddy excitement everyone felt seeing how he changed in 4, which is a plus. They could also use a 4 remake to massively expand on Luis Sera and Krauser, because they were pretty underbaked in the original. RE4 takes place over some very distinct areas, though, and it's very long, so I hope they're putting in the time and effort with the assets and making sure to cut only what makes sense for a remake (mine cart section, maybe that weird fire room) and otherwise adding new sections to keep it fresh and around the same length.
As for RE8, I like that Ethan is returning. He was decently charismatic for a "normal" protagonist and had some great one liners. If they expand his characterization and introduce some fun mechanics/scenes with his regeneration powers, I'm on board. God knows we need some new blood to become mainstays so that Capcom doesn't constantly go back to Chris and Leon.
