I assume as part of a DLC.
It's is that or modders are going to find a way to add her.
I dunno, seems like they're saving her for RE8's own multiplayer. I think this is why they're using RE7 Chris in Verse, even though it makes no sense.

My question was more like what Capcom is going to do to fix Reverse since the reception so far has been mostly negative? It's fucking ridiculous how people are willing to pay money for Outbreak remaster yet Capcom keeps throwing all these garbage free multiplayers that are barely playable.

Christ, Re:Verse is... Surprisingly bad. I thought it would suck, call me ClaireVoyant S. McForesight but it's far worse than that. It just makes you wish you weren't playing it. The skills are designed by someone's pet monkey. Chris and Hunk are on another planet power-wise compared to the rest. Leon's special ability, dual wielding, grants him the boon of becoming the worst character in the game. The running is fast and snappy but aiming slows you to a crawl. You can swap shoulders. (Hallelujah!) But you can only do so while aiming and it takes NEARLY A FULL SECOND. (Fucking booooo!)

It really feels like amateur hour. Neobards have no fucking clue what they're doing. Resistance was kind of bad, but this makes Resistance look like Resident Evil 4.

The meta is skulk around the map as Hunk, wait until some dumbass actually starts a fight with someone else, and fuck them both up for wanting to have fun with the game. Proceed to hightail it outta there since they become monsters. Movement is super fast, so fights are frequent, but combat takes a year to actually finish, which means killstealing is easy and rewarding. Stealth up again. If they engage someone, you can kill them one more time. Whoever wins is the Hunk player who happened to walk into more drunken barfights, or the Chris player who pops immortal and keeps getting engaged on.

Posting this stuff since I'm one of three guys who has gotten into matches apparently. Played two hours between yesterday and today, hated it. Won a couple matches, even. Fans are describing it as mindless fun, I'd be less charitable and leave it at mindless.

Just make Outbreak 3 and cram a shitty pvp mode into that, ffs. People actually want that. I'd take it. I'd even play Thanatos, the canon Tyrant in a Speedo.

Christ, Re:Verse is... Surprisingly bad.
it's mega baffling considering Capcom already release a(nother) multiplayer focused RE game last year that fucking failed because it was dogshit and Resistance is technically still alive! so why the fuck did they try to make another one barely one year after instead of trying to fix Resistance?

not to mention why the fuck would you expect a multiplayer RE to NOT fail? trying to make a multiplayer game out of a primarily single player franchise is also sooo early 2010s, lmao
Just make Outbreak 3 and cram a shitty pvp mode into that, ffs.
yeah, idk... I've been saying that ever since Resistance was revealed and I bet a lot of people at Capcom know that that's what the people want out of a mp-focused RE, but they're probably told to shut up.

More information on Lady D and her daughters.

The original RE8 concept was 100 mostly naked (!) witches in a castle hunting Ethan. Wtf.

To be fair this was the planning stage & the team was encouraged to come up with unusual ideas:

I actually like this approach for creating unique characters & themes.

Also the game designers got inspired by the Addams family which is awesome.

The "100 naked witches in a castle" makes a lot more sense when you realize they were probably trying to invoke a lot more of the old Renaissance-era folklore about witches and some of the earlier and less known works in the Gothic tradition.

As for RE8, I'm hyped as fuck and I also have to admit that I like the fact Lady Dimitrescu goes for the mid-20th Century fashions of the 1950's and 1960's as opposed to just wearing the same old cliched Victorian or Edwardian aesthetics seen in Gothic horror.

It makes sense lore-wise as well, since Lady Dimitrescu became a vampire back in the 1950's.

To be honest, I've always had a fondness for those 1950's sophisticate fashions. They're beautiful but tasteful without a lot of ostentation.
I like the look as well, it is a very welcome change for this type of setting.

Now watch the modders make a Gothic Lolita outfit for her, or turn her into a giant anime girl with that type of clothes.

Wait, Resident Evil has fucking vampires now? When did this happen?

IGN did another article
Considering the game’s title, it might not come as a surprise that portraying a village with a real sense of place was one of the main goals for Resident Evil Village’s developers.

In a previous interview, director Morimasa Sato explained how the team implemented a village as the game’s central theme, and how they created different areas, characters and experiences with that theme in mind. Footage from the trailers shows a lonely village tucked away high in the mountains with architecture reminiscent of Northern European styles. But specific details remain a mystery, covered deep under the village’s snowy landscapes.

Today, IGN can exclusively reveal the game’s map, which teases a wide array of locations within the village for the first time.
Map-small.jpg

Four locations are highlighted by emblems, of which one reads Castle Dimitrescu, the location of the PS5 exclusive Maiden demo. Other landmarks include a factory, windmills, and a reservoir which houses an image of a giant monster. The latter looks like it could recreate a situation similar to Resident Evil 4’s iconic battle with lake monster Del Lago.

There seem to be more similarities with Resident Evil 4 – which also takes place in a village, for starters. By introducing new enemies and fresh gameplay elements for each area of the game, Resident Evil 4 felt like much more than just a village. Sato sees this variety as one of the 2005 classic’s key components, and he seems to be going for the same approach with Village.

“When you hear the word ‘village’, you might imagine quaint houses lined up along a street, but that’s not really enough to make a videogame out of,” Sato tells IGN. “Especially in a horror game, I think it’s important to keep providing new experiences along the way. Within the village, it’s important to keep delivering new surprises to the player.”

Sato sees the game’s characters as the most important factor of creating a memorable village. With Lady Dimitrescu residing in Castle Dimitrescu already revealed, examining the map makes us wonder not only what the remaining areas will look like, but also what kind of villains await us there.

While the potential for a diverse selection of areas definitely has us excited, there seem to be some elements that unify the village as well. Visually speaking, the snow creates a common thread between the different locations, but interestingly, Sato tells us that this wasn’t part of the team’s original plan.

“We went to Europe for research during spring one year, but due to an unseasonable cold snap, the scenery was covered in snow,” he says. “This inspired us to implement snowscapes into our game. We use snow not just for visual presentation, but as gameplay elements as well.”

First Look at Mother Miranda

Mother Miranda appears to be a character who plays a huge role in the village, especially for the people who live there. While her character remains a mystery, in footage that has been released so far, you can see villagers chanting her name in some kind of ceremony, and Lady Dimitrescu can be seen talking with Mother Miranda over the phone.

According to Capcom, Mother Miranda is “a presence worshipped by the villagers”. Today, we can reveal a portrait of Mother Miranda that is perhaps used as an item of worship.
Miranda-Portrait-small.jpg

The portrait looks like an in-game object that seemingly portrays Mother Miranda as a deity. Sato acknowledges that she was named “mother” in the religious meaning of the word, but when we tried to ask more about her, he retained a poker face.

“For Mother Miranda, I think it’s better for the players to find out for themselves by playing the game,” says Sato. “But I’ll say this: Mother Miranda and the inner side of her character are extremely important factors in the game.”

While the portrait makes it difficult to decipher Mother Miranda’s appearance, the concept art below reveals more.
VILLAGE_Ethan_Chris_poster_RGB.jpg

You can see protagonist Ethan Winters holding a rifle, while series mainstay Chris Redfield is carrying a baby. The masked character below them is none other than Mother Miranda. Her fierce look is as menacing as you might hope in a game like Village.

Art director Tomonori Takano tells us that crows were the main motif for Mother Miranda’s design.

“The mask resembles a crow’s beak,” Takano says. “As a symbol of horror, crows function as a theme for Village in its entirety as well, and they appear in the actual game. Since she has a symbolic role within the village, we implemented that same design theme for Mother Miranda.”

The baby that Chris carries is Rosemary, Ethan’s daughter. In Village, Ethan’s main goal is to rescue his daughter.

Ethan was also the protagonist in Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, but Sato hopes to show more of Ethan’s personal side by portraying his full story this time. Both Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village play from a first-person perspective, which means that players don’t get to see much of Ethan’s appearance. The concept art above is a rare example in which Ethan is visible, albeit with his face turned to the side.

“Ethan is a character without a face, which makes him very difficult to design,” Takano laughs. “If I make his character art… he still does not have a face. That makes it pretty hard, but even in first-person there are moments in which you can see his clothes. We’ve also challenged ourselves within the cutscenes, so I hope you look forward to that.”

RE has Zombies, human-plant hybrids, human-sea creature hybrids, human-insect hybrids etc. it was only a matter of time until enemies who drink blood appear.
I mean given all that something resembling vampires isn't Impossible. I'm just waiting for them to jump the shark and say everything in resident evil is secretly influenced by the demons in hell from dmc

And that would be bad how? I mean, okay, any sort of actual "plot" these games have would be laughed at (like it already isn't, I mean), but in exchange we get the Dante/Chris boulder-punching crossover of a lifetime.

"So okay, this asshole was trying to wipe out the world and had just changed into a giant tentacle monster after falling in a pit of lava. So I punched a boulder into the pit to escape, hopped in a helicopter, then blasted him with a rocket launcher as I got away."

That's top of the list for things Dante would raise a non-alcoholic drink to.

The setting of this game appeals to me a lot more than the cut-price Chainsaw Massacre house in RE7. A lot of the screenshots really do just look like Bloodborne though.

I played the demo and digged the atmosphere. I like the little subversion there of starting in some shitty RE7 dungeon, but then it turns out you're actually in a rich gothic castle. I hope the full game doesn't begin in the castle, rather it's a location you need to find your way to. It would be nice for a Resident Evil game not to put its best location in the first third.

I haven't pre-ordered a game since... Well, the last RE game I pre-ordered, out of necessity, was the GC RE4 North American release. It was a game with a lot of hype behind it and express shipping a crate of them from the US to Scandinavia meant limited copies. Pre-ordering is stupid. I'm still considering it just to have it done and pre-load it. I don't even remember the last time I played a game on release.

I can't remember that the SysReq have been posted, but I'm probably misremembering. The minimum is very low.

Running "Prioritize Performance" settings, which is the minimum, meaning mostly 1080p/60fps, requires:

CPU:
AMD Ryzen 3 1200 or Core i5 7500. - Kill some programs in Windows and you can absolutely go below that, this game is also made for last-gen consoles and their CPU cluster made up of Ti-82s.

GPU:
RX 560 or GTX 1050Ti. - Aside from performance what they both have in common is 4GB of VRAM. You can go lower, I guarantee that, but memory will be the primary bottleneck that tanks the framerate. Bump it down to 900p or below running at 1080p with display scaling for UI elements. Or even 720p. Fiddle with the settings, if you only have 2GB of VRAM you need to tweak some things to get memory usage down while effects that relies heavily on computation instead of a larger memory footprint will be mostly fine.

I played RE7 mostly on a laptop way below the minimum requirements. Minimum was a Core i5 from 2017, I played on a mobile i5(effectively half a desktop i5) from 2012-2013, desktop GTX 760 was the GPU minimum, I used a GT 740m that didn't even have GDDR memory, it used plain DDR3. Then I played on a desktop with a Core i5 2400 and a 1050, then I finished it on a Ryzen with a RX 480. So I played on way below minimum, to medium, to all settings high except for one or two stupid ones. Even way below minimum it looked really good and played as it should.

With some elbow grease RE8 should be perfectly playable on a laptop with a 2GB GTX 950.

Vampires and zombies aren't really that far removed from one another. One is just a pickier eater.
IIRC, the original descriptions of vampires were decaying, bloated, shambling corpses that fed on the flesh and blood of the living. Aside from the fairly specific things you had to do to prevent/destroy one, they weren't so different from "modern" depictions of zombies, which actually are cannibalistic ghouls and not really "zombies".

Anyone else getting this weird bug in remake3 where the box containing the red jewel isnt in its location at the donut shop? Playing on inferno difficulty BTW where there's only the item box and no typewriter in there

Edit: found it for some reason inferno difficulty moves it from the donut shop to the substation
