I'm abusing this thread to spread anti fake Jill propaganda but in my defense this is the kind of morons I'm dealing with.

Jill was never an unlikable "Men are trash" feminist cunt in the original, that's why #Downwiththebitch
I like Sasha though

I'm just happy that the vampire lady's final form really is an ugly, boner-killing abomination.

At the very end now.
I'm sorry to say I found Heisenberg's factory tedious and the enemies there drained a ton of my ammo. Fuck the stupid propeller boss. I liked what they did with Heisenberg himself though; his fight was fun, wish we didn't have to kill him. (Potentially unpopular opinion but I can't help but think it was a wasted opportunity not making him a lycan. His design just had that feel to it and it would've made him more intimidating.) Also the "lol Ethan is actually dead" twist is just weird and feels like a retcon.

All that aside, I think I have a problem.

I'm low on ammo and explosives and only have one first aid med; the Duke is sold out and I can't craft anymore. I've only been able to make it to the second phase of the final boss before dying. Am I screwed? Would switching to casual help? I started a new game anyway because I missed some things, namely the recipes.

Also I screwed myself out of some upgrades because I sold a bunch of food to the fat pervert before he turned right around and opened his restaurant up. I realize thats partly on me, but you'd think the option would open up as soon as you started finding food.
I did the exact same thing.

Just played the first hour or so; does the game ever get scary, or is this just Resident Evil 4? Gun down pseudo-zombies and watch cutscenes with Boring Dad Leon and Ugly Baby Ashley?
I’d say where it gets scary is with a certain section in house beneviento. Other than that though, the horror is really toned down compared to RE7.

Gameplay is good, also has good horror elements though things seemed toned down in general (this game borders more of fantasy than science fiction). My biggest gripe is that the story doesn't make much sense and shines more light on RE7's huge plot holes. There are "mysteries" and plot twists for the sake of it, it feels incredibly forced, and just plain contrived. "I know I shot your wife in front of you, there was no time to explain and I'm still not going to explain anything. Oh no a giant monster!" Basically every time Chris showed up, my eyes rolled into the back of my head.

The Jill I know was serious about her job and never got super emotional. She also wasn’t a cunt. Re3 remake Jill is so out of character that she’s barely even Jill anymore. I remember in the original re3 even when Jill was suspicious about UBCS, she still worked with them and even showed concern for some of them. If I remember she actually sympathized with Mikhail back in the original.

Exactly, not to mention Jill was aware how Umbrella exploits people, including the mercenaries, but she was still willing to cooperate after they asked her for help. In the remake she keeps being a dick to Carlos after he saves her life and after she saw him taking care of the survivors. I honestly hate the writing, the original with all its 90s cheesiness still had more nuanced characters than obviously evil misogynistic Nikolai because that's what "deep" 2020s writing is like.

Fat Merchant is such a bro, he's the only person besides Chris you can call an ally.

He's like REs Morshu, and I'll be he WOULD give credit if Ethan asked.

I'm not sure if the Duke being one a genuinely compelling character is a testament to his personality, or a damnation of how shallow everyone else has been this year.

Sunk a couple hours into Mercenaries and it's quickly become addictive - spawns don't appear to be random so my S ranks have come about due to tight routines and practise. SSS will be a bitch and a half though.

I didn’t have too much of a problem with RE3make’s writing (except for making Nicholai a generic Disney villain), but I was surprised by how much they made Jill seem more scared and surprised by everything. Obviously, nothing can prepare you for seeing a tyrant with a rocket launcher but she acted way less confident than in the original despite the mansion incident happening just months before. I was expecting her to be like RE4 Leon where he was surprised by a lot of the crazy shit but still sure of himself and badass as he had already been through he ringer.

Even Claire in RE2make seemed more prepared to deal with all of the horrifying shit in her game.

Played through over the weekend on Hardcore, overall I really enjoyed it. Much better than REm3, and in a lot of ways it felt like it was also making up for a lot of the shortcomings in 7. The plot was fucking bonkers, and I don't understand why Chris was such a dick even after his explanation because he barely explained himself or had any reason to be like that other than plot.
