I hear conflictingen Reports on it, the digital version Does not while the fysical version trippel pack Does?
I saw those too, but I wasn't really able to find anything that really confirmed it. Plus, I think most people are going to buy the digital release of RE4 which is probably why there isn't as much attention.

Pft! Where's everyone going? Bingo?!

Alright so I finished Revlations 2. Really good, but I do have on major complaint.

Number one is the fact that you can easily fuck up and get the bad ending. This is completely new to the franchise and it's very unintuitive, as up until that point it was basically just the Zap system from RE2. As certain actions Clarie and Moria did could affect the items and paths Barry took, but this was a whole new level.

It basically requires that you do something very specific at the end of the first part of episode 3
Switch characters in the middle of a QTE
And you have to replay the last two episodes for the good ending if you dont do this.

Now that that's out of the way I gotta say this is a really great alternate direction for RE to take. The environment design was fantastic, felt like Metro last light meet's the evil within. The coop gameplay was well balanced in singleplayer. I like how they added in good crafting without making it feel mandatory. The bleeding and slime status effects were also a nice touch for tension.

It really does feel like a better, scarier version of RE4 in some ways. It's not perfect by any means, as it was starting to run out of new enemy types by the last two episodes, but the plot was really dark and engaging. I really hope this was successful enough for them to make more like it later.

As far as plot threads they could bring into the next games, I dont think they properly identified the masked gunmen from the beginning and
Natasha could be a really interesting Villain for Rosemary.

Also, Clarie wasn't in love with Neil in the original right? I remember hearing some people here bitching about it, but I thought it was a genus move. For story telling purposes, it makes him more interesting then being some random guy we barely know. And for Meme reasons its fucking hilarious. I just love the idea that Chris gave this approval to the guy and Clarie was totally onboard with it, further deepening the tragedy of the Redfield bloodline.

It's doublely hilarious because I just realized he's more or less in resident evil the final chapter as the character Doc.

How hard can it be to slap 3 PS1 ISOs on a disc and sell it? Even if it was a bare bones release it would still make money.
Capcom's seriously squandering a good opportunity here. The remakes have been receiving so much attention lately but the original games are getting harder to find in comparison. There are probably more eyes on the series now than ever before, it'd be cool to reintroduce the series' beginnings to a new audience. Hell they could even do something neat with it like package the original and Greatest Hits soundtrack with RE1 so people could listen to that goofy-ass basement theme if they so please. Or shit, just dump the games on the eShop and PS4's PSN for $5 a pop.

The narrative is that tank controls are a museum piece at best. Only hipsters stick up for tank controls, which nicely ties into that 'message.'
True, but Capcom did manage to add normal controls to the remasters of REmake and Onimusha. I don't know how difficult it'd be for the original games given that they're way older, but I don't think it's that outside the realm of possibility.

I doubt that would actually happen, mind you, but Capcom at least has a history of adding those kinds of options.

So I started RE6 for ps4 recently. Remember playing in on ps3 way back when it came out and never finished.

Really having a good time with it, but man I forgot how fucking jarring it is to start the leon campaign and just be THROWN into the narrative. in fact the way they structure the campaign is so crazy, there are fan guide on the proper order to play in. It's not so bad now that ive been following all the past side games and such, but I remember it was kinda jarring going from RE4/5 to this.

The Iphone app health interface is so dam dumb. Thank god you can turn it off, because I think half the reason I couldn't be bothered to finish the game was that eyesore taking up a quarter of the screen and doing a piss poor job of conveying information while not being distracting. The way health works bugs me too. There's no real indication that your seriously injured until you get knocked down. Pill system seems a bit eh, but there's some tactical resource management I can appreciate.

There's so much crazy shit they dont tell you about in the tutorial it's criminal. I had no idea you could duel wield and that there's a full on gears of war cover system for aiming near the environment.

Kinda crazy how fast paced this game is, the default speed would be a run animation in any other game. Definitely feels inspired by the live action and CG movies.

Shared ammo with the AI companions isn't too bad so far on normal difficulty. Although, it was amusing to see em unload a full clip into a zombie's chest after Leon gave his signature advice.

"You carry the same blood as us! it seems...Never the less, you're an outsider! Just remember, if you become unpleasant to our eyes, you'll face...Severe consequences!"

"Wha...what? same blood? What?!"

I legit don't get the hate for tank controls. Though it's funny when you consider, a higher degree of movement would mean having to tune enemy's movements to compensate for it. Which would make the game more actiony, which would cause people to start REEEEE-ing about the combat and pacing.

Remember when RE6 first came out and all the QTEs? All the bullshit that Capcom later had to patch because people were pissed?

I hated them so damn much.

I can’t really say tank controls are absolutely terrible but it really depends on what they’re in. If it’s something like REmake then yeah it works fine. If it’s something like RE4 or RE5 though it’s just, uh, not so great.

See that's something id like to examine when im done, dont know how much of that has been changed between the ps4 and ps3 release.

5 is dumb co-op shooter with a thin, stringy veneer of 4 stretched over it. It succeeded at that, at least.

6 started out mediocre and went downhill from there. Cutscenes: bad. New characters: bad. Control scheme: bad. Inventory: bad. Turret sections: bad. Bosses: bad.

It sucked 6 cocks, and if anyone else has the balls to claim they unironically love 6 or count it among their favorites... I regard those people as oxygen thieves, basically; thinking they're in good company just because it moved 1.7 million copies.
Well Ive still got plenty of game left to play so I may join you in that camp. Although, I must admit im quite generous when it comes to cheesy games.

Im more then half way though the leon campaign, which is widely regarded as the best one. And as far as how the zombies behave and look, I thought they did a really good job with the designs and variety. Love how they can be slow one min, then just fucking launch themselves at you like a speeding bullet. Checkpoint system is SUPER generous in single player though. It brings you back to full health and load times are instantaneous. Leon's writing does feel like a notable downgrade from other works, He's still got a couple quips in him, but this is when they decided to go full dark edgy phase. I enjoyed it in an ironic way, but the CG movies handled him better. Helena is hot so all is forgiven.

Leon's swimming animation when he's paddling away from the fish is fucking hilarious.

Im not terribly fond of the way inventory works, but it's manageable. Ill be following the steam chapter guide I posted earlier and see how that works out.

Next up im playing Call of Chris.

Hey, hey everybody. Want to hear a crazy opinion? RE4 could of used stealth mechanics.
Im ok with that as long as it's optional predatory stealth. I tend to hate games that have instant game overs when your caught, unless its a very brief segment like the sherry parts in RE2.

I was just thinking some basic stealth. Nothing Sam Fisher or 'Be found and die instantly'.

Yeah revelations 2 did that pretty well with Barry actually. It's kinda ridiculous how he can knife regenerators, but that would be fine to put in.
