While we're on the subject on RE5, there was always one aspect that I always found baffling. The game offers various control options, with one of them resembling RE4's original control scheme (at least on PS2), and since I was going from 4 to 5 I figured I'd use that one. However, RE5's controls swapped the shoot and reload buttons for some goddamn reason, and there's no way to switch it, at least as far as I know. I can't tell you the number of times I reloaded when I meant to shoot because my brain went back to RE4 for a split second. Even worse is that it's completely fucked up how I play 4 because now I have to think which button shoots and which button reloads.

Also, fans didn't appreciate having to fight Simmons five times.
The Simmons boss fights were a pain in the ass in an otherwise fine Leon campaign, but goddamn it was satisfying killing that fucker. Simmons was really one of those love-to-hate characters. Not even Wesker or Salazar made me feel that.

It fucking hurts to be a Silent Hill fan right now. Don't need to say why because I'd just be repeating what pretty much every Silent Hill fan says about the sheer state of the franchise.

Pics are broken unless you quote them, my guy.

Speaking of things to do with the old RE games - what do you guys think of games that try to emulate the way the original trilogy (and Code Veronica) was? I've been watching people play them and the only one I've seen that comes close so far is the demo for Conscript.

Why does Leon look like Carlos? I feel sorry for the actors involved in this mess. They could have worked on something better. Yeah, the film ain't out yet and I'm making a snap judgement, but come one. They're combining segments of games 1 and 2 into a single film. Thats pretty jarring and shows me how little faith they have in what they have.

If they did game 1 as a solo film that would have told me they were pretending to care. They just want that RE2 nostalgia bux.

I kind of can't understand why as it's just a pale imitation of RE4, it feels tedious and dull whereas I can definitely understand why people liked RE4.
Memes. Memes and D.C. Douglas. He interacted with fans and made RE jokes on Twitter.
Add to that Capcom trying to catch lightning in a bottle twice. Four had more than a few things "wrong" with it that somehow worked in it's favor and a a lot of things right that helped smooth out the rough edges, mostly. Capcom simply thought they could replicate it.

What I've learned is in a way the series ended with Zero, while it really sucks that we never got proper story conclusion, Zero's final shot of a moth in a spider's web is a poetically creepy note to end on.

RE4 is effectively it's own thing and as much as I like RE7 and RE8, RE7 is effectively a soft reboot of the franchise, the "real" Resident Evil ended with RE0.

Outbreak is where the 'classic' series ended for me.

RE4 occupies a bit of an odd space. It's one of my favorites and the idea of a more serious take on it could be really good, they could even keep some of the more action-y pieces if they play their cards right, but then I think about all the fun and dumb stuff that'd get taken out and it just wouldn't be the same.

Resident Evil ended after 3.

Isn’t Wesker bald and black in this version as well?
> "A more faithful adaptation".
> Wesker's a bald black man.
> Leon's hispanic.

That moment when the Anderson movies look like a faithful adaptation of the source material.
The black wesker series is actually a separate thing on Netflix.
