tbh a lot of it is "hold the button to keep walking down the hallway" with occasional amazingly shitty combat that it's probably better to just watch videos

I think it sort of has to be played because a video doesn't do it justice at all. Its short enough you can just walk through the game basically. the entertainment value in it is entirely lost if you just watch it. Its also piss easy. I was really into the movie when it came out and was so fucking disappointed in it when my brother bought it. I played it again stoned in high school and couldn't get anywhere because of the combat and then as an adult I played it and just sat down and beat it one afternoon and was like Jesus what a piece of shit. i feel obligated to share it because its hilarious. It has like an amped up version of the shitty voice acting from RE1 but less competent and everything about it is just entertaining from start to finish.

Oh yeah, I tried Kiss Psycho Circus in an emulator once. Absolutely trashy boomer shooter, but corny and entertaining enough to pirate and play for a half an hour.

I think my dad bought it new because he liked kiss I remember him playing it quite a bit but I never cared for it but going back to it now it gives me a weird nostalgia for that late 90s super early 00s rock/metal aesthetic. its really stupid and corny but that's what works about it.

I also recommend D2 on dc I like that game a lot.

HydroThunder -- water race

I've just been playing this, weirdly, albeit the N64 version. Hydro Thunder is really, really bullshit. As in, you can have a perfect race, hit all the boost powerups and still come in second place. It's based off an arcade game so I wouldn't be surprised if there some kind of RNG that makes your boat faster every so many tries (i.e. credits), because it really does seem like your boat is faster sometimes.

The strange thing is, the PSX version is way easier than every other version. I've no idea why. I'd recommend it as the definitive version but it looks and runs like garbage even compared to the N64 version.

As for DC recommends, if no one else suggested it yet, I'd go with Wetrix+. It's a puzzle game where you make pools of water by building up a 3D mesh. It's neat.

I never saw this video but I never followed him but this is like the opening of the fucking game. I'm sure it's mentioned in this or any other video about the game but the game telegraphs it's shit from the start because the start menu has a noise when you move the cursor and I swear to god it's like a fart or a diarrhea sound or something. I hadn't remembered that when I replayed it a few years ago and I was dying that I started it up and that's what you're greeted with. I asked my brother later if he remembered that and he told me that was the only single thing he remembered about the game besides the fact he got it for like $5 at a video store in 2002 right after we saw the american movie and he wanted to take it back and my mom said no, and he was pissed off because I got some game that didn't suck like Rayman 2 or something

The Wet fart sound effect is used again later as a monster attack as well.



This is not even the only game to use this sound effect. Ever play the 1995 game Anvil of Dawn?
Later in the game you find a enemy that I can only describe as a mud slime girl, which makes the wet fart sound when it hits you.

So I picked up one of those Golden R4 cards and I run it on my New 3DS XL. And by looks of it was included with a SD to USB adapter and I have to boot a software inside of it before I can run GBA games on it. I wonder if there is software/tools you can install on it to wide-screen patch the ROMs to run proper full screen on it? Or would it honestly be easier to live with the blurry upscale. I mean it's not even as bad as people made it out to be but I've only tested about... What 3 or 4 games or so and they're all tiny bit blurry (Seeing mario in the foreground as Wario and Luigi come out of the pipes in the intro to Mario 64 DS made mario like old school blurry but I wouldn't say horrendously. Only other thing I can think of is to hunt down a DSi XL. Either way I basically have every system I own par my PS3 and PS5/Xbox SX snd Switch modded in some capacity to boot games from. But I have no need to do them tbh. I like to avoid the risk of getting accounts with stuff on them purchased b&

I am basically completely backed up aswell in roms as every Everdrive I have purchased has come with a SD Card full of the ROMs. They've been transferred over. The R4 was full. The HD for my OpenPs2Loader we as full so I have future proofed myself from any upcoming shutdowns by big corpo. Might try and find to be useful and upload them somewhere

KISS Psycho Circus was decent enough as a shooter and that is miles beyond what one of the lamest tie-ins ever had any right to be.

Trickstyle on the DC wasn't great but it's interesting to see what Criterion was doing at that time.

After years of nagging about not getting a New 2DS XL when they were cheap, I finally got one used. Aaaand… it kinda sucks. I assumed it would just be a New 3DS XL without the 3D, but it’s not. It feels cheaper compared to my O3DS XL. The speakers are much worse, at the bottom of the system like a PSP, except turning the volume up all the way makes the entire system vibrate while you’re playing. The stylus is tiny, which can sort of be fixed with a third party telescopic stylus like what the original 3DS had, but it doesn’t make enough of a difference, and either way the top of the stylus is designed differently. Instead of being large and smooth like the O3DS models and Wii U, it’s a thin piece of plastic that jabs into your finger and feels uncomfortable if you hold it for more than a minute. I didn’t think it would be possible to fuck up the stylus, but they did. Also, I missed the 3D more than I thought I would

Having said all that, I then bought a New 3DS XL, reapplied all my mods, and reinstalled everything, and it feels much better. The stylus design is still not great (seriously, how hard would it have been to just reuse the one for the O3DS XL?) but I found a good telescopic stylus that’s so long the top part doesn’t matter. I’ve got a bunch of hShop games with the latest updates+DLC, forwarders for DS + DSiWare, GBA through open_agb_firm, and emulators for older systems. This is the first time I’ve played a dual screen system as originally intended in a long time, and it feels pretty damn good to have memories of Mario 64 DS minigames flooding back in.

I got an EZ Flash Parallel (a newer R4 offshoot) before realizing there’s not much of a point if you’re using a 3DS anyway; that can do everything a flashcart can do the same if not better. Twilight Menu++ is your flashcart replacement in the form of a home menu app that can do things like run DS games at higher clock speeds and widescreen hacks to varying degrees of success. Or if you don’t want to open a separate app every time you want to play DS, you can also create forwarders for up to 39 DS/DSiWare games directly on your home menu (technically 40, but Twilight Menu itself counts as one). You can also replace the official DS upscaler with an unofficial one to make it less blurry, though in my opinion most of them are worse than the official, with only one being marginally better.

For GBA, you can run that through open_agb_firm, a hypervisor that basically turns your 3DS into a GBA like how you use Nintendont to play Gamecube ISOs on a Wii. But the scaling is bad unless you use integer scaling and make the screen tiny, and there are no bells and whistles; not even save states. Still, you get widescreen GBA. The only exceptions are games like WarioWare Twisted since open_agb_firm doesn’t support gyro, but GBARunner through Twilight Menu does.

Twilight Menu can also be installed on a flashcart, and I’d assume you can do something to boot directly into it. It lets you select a rom for any system that has an emulator and it’ll load the game+emulator, so you can play the GBA rom without going through multiple layers of apps. You could try that?

Worth a shot this also supposedly has the time bomb disabled so I'm probably gonna have to plug and check it that's accurate just incase so I can see while I'm at it. I only ever had a ds as a kid and loved it missed out on psp I gave him my modded one though cause I got the entirely in steam deck with zero FPS drops and tearing like psp had in like god of war etc but he loved it so thought give him an upgrade get him a lot to get started and a game. He's welcome to mod it himself though cause I wanna see if he can do it lol

For some reason SNES games don't really work right on 3DS XL, maybe it's the system, maybe it's my setup. Tetris Attack cuts off sound effects and has weird colors, Stunt Race FX runs like ass (I mean more ass than normal), and Final Fantasy IV has weird graphical glitches where when looking at the inventory some of the l ters r miss g.

I don't really use my 3DS XL that much anyway. Sometimes I pick it up and play Tetris if I'm bored.

I have tried to warn people about this for many years. New 2DS is a cheaply made, cost reduced model for the EOL of the system. Everything about it feels cheap.

I still prefer the original XL to the New XL down to build and more sensible placement of volume & cartridge slot & SD card slot, even if losing out on the extra perf hurts a few games.

Zombie Revenge was just... Chunky. The controls were just awful and killed it for me. Dynamite Cop was equally jank to play. Illbleed is gay.

Pretty neat game that, like a cross between House of the Dead and Streets of Rage. Not great but worth checking out.

Zombie Revenge is pretty dodgy but I always felt like I could squint and like it if I wanted to badly enough. Dynamite Cop is supposed to actually be good, but I never got too into it.

Rez (never quite clicked for me, but at least worth a look)
Evil Dead (it's uh... well it's Evil Dead at least)
ReVolt (remote control car racer; probably not better than the windows version but maybe as good?)
Zero Gunner 2 (helicopter shmup where you can also rotate around, pretty unique)
