I actually hate anime despite having an anime avatar.
I used to be a weeb years ago but have grown to despise weeb culture. Every now and then you'll see threads pop up on /pol/ about the anime-to-trans pipeline and from life experience I can tell you this is accurate. I've had weeb friends (plural) who seemed relatively normal only to come out as gay and/or trans. And it's no wonder. Aside from some few classics, most anime are either autistic (most action shounens) or are extremely effeminate, on the level of My Little Pony to be quite honest. I have to wonder what's more girly, MLP or K-On and Love Live? The only benefit to the latter series are that the girls are fappable as opposed to ponies. (And the girls are in high school... Japan and weebs love their high school girls).
The anime community worships waifus/"best girls" and the cutesy fluffy feelings they get from these anime. With that said, I still appreciate my favorites and I also like the general anime artstyle. So in my pictures folder I looked at what should be my avatar and this 90s anime chick drinking beer seemed good enough despite myself not watching anime anymore.
