Couldn't be arsed to care about what this latest community drama is about but I thought this screenshot was hilarious.

i know (by /jp/'s rhythm games general thread) that 1cc, a board for sharing hdd dumps for the bemani games (and more?), apparently went down because someone on there was doxing a trans person. idk if this is related to that.View attachment 4258178![]()

The latest of those songs were added in June 2022. I guess Iamchris4lyfe's records are still active.Archive
Apparently Chris is still using a VPN to Indonesia? Idk how recent these songs are, I don't follow DDR that much.
I have no clue who that is or what "getting SA'D" is, but I looked through his Twitter and just look at this fuckin photoView attachment 4258178![]()

For comparison's sake, here's the classic Reddit meetup photo:

You know your community's irredeemable when the fuckin' Redditors look 10x more appealing
I was going to post this from the recent US tournament where TAG came as a guest, but couldn't think of a good context.

I should mention the guy in the top right, xopher314, while best known for being that guy that lost 125 lbs playing DDR, seems to have a huge weeb fat fetish and his likes on his nsfw twitter are full of it. He's not lolcow worthy or anything, but I do find it a bit ironic how the guy who used to be fat still has a turn on for fatties.
And also likes talking about his balls. Because I honestly don't know why people enjoy telling strangers on the internet about it.
Before you ask, some old account I had followed it while it was still a SFW account before it got changed to a private NSFW one awhile back and he made a new SFW account. Haven't bothered to unfollow for quality content like this.
He could've been like everyone else that spend thousands at Round1, but nah he really went through all of that just so he didn't have to wait in line. All those people spending thousands of dollars per month on trips to Dave & Busters or round 1 and credits just so they could get a chance to grind one single song.
Chris just gets to sperg and complain on Twitter because his spoofed cab failed on him for a couple of weeks, so he won't be able to get that precious "ddr world record".
I've been eyeing that off i was wondering if its worth picking up. It looks hilarious which is generally enough for me.Trombone Champ is the best rhythm game. No I won't elaborate.
I'm 100% convinced the competitive scene and the people around it completely killed any and all fun regarding videogames in general. Fighting games and shit like Pokemon suffer from this as well, where everything is super fucking serious, otherwise you're not "doing it the right way" or "having fun", except my definition of "having fun" doesn't involve mentally and/or physically torturing myself to death. Ever since online gaming became more of a thing it's gotten worse and worse.I've never understood why every argument regarding popularity has to revolve around tournaments. Like, does it not occur to them that a lot of people like me just don't want to play against other people in a tournament setting and want to simply improve on their personal scores instead at a level no different than a gym routine?
Dancing games seem to be a very even playing field, to be honest. If anything separates people, it'd be leg length, I would think. I know there are some amazing female players out there too - blueandys was one for Pump it Up, but it looks like she DFE'd at some point.nobody:
ddr community: how can we make stepping on plastic to music more diveeeeeerse and inclusiiiiiiive

I've been to a couple of DDR tournaments way back in the Extreme days. They were a lot of fun. A handful of people took them very seriously, but for the most part, it was a reason to get everyone together and hang out for a day. During downtime, a bunch of us played Pictochat and Mario Kart DS. We'd gossip about others in and out of the community and discuss whatever faggot teenager shit we were thinking about at the time. It was great fun. Very nice memories. I'd participate in the tournaments even though I'd get completely wrecked in the first round, but the entry fee ensured more tournaments could happen, and they needed people to fill slots, or else it'd just be four spergs duking it out and an audience full of people not paying attention.I've never understood why every argument regarding popularity has to revolve around tournaments. Dudes with stinkditches probably don't fare so well, though, because it's a physically exerting game where you're moving your legs as fast as possible. That's bound to cause some really disgusting and painful bleeding down there.

Like seriously, we had four guys who were putting up scores like <20 greats on Maxx Unlimited, and the best of the rest of us were happy just to clear Cartoon Heroes with a C. It didn't matter though, I was just happy to hang out with friends.
I guess people like those four guys were among the kinds who were peaking in life at that time, and they're clinging onto the tournament scene into middle age. So sad
Most new arcade data is on nyaa. Or if you're lucky, you can download it off of onlyone.cab if you were able to get an account. Dunno how bemani discord shit is now, I haven't been in the scene in years. The pop'n music community is hilarious, it's mostly people who never touched the game and obsess over one or two characters. I've been wanting to get back into pop'n again, but gamo2's controllers are pretty damn expensive. Would like to know how to run it and IIDX on a Linux distro, but I'm not sure of the steps how to do it because the documentation is really poor.Ive never been blessed to play a pop'n game, are you playing on an emulator or just arcading it? I ended up getting a force level 5 for taiko and don't regret it one bit. Works okay on the switch but the PC is a beast at least with the web taiko i've got infinite song choice too.
Hell, I'll believe it. The RGC harbors some creepy motherfuckers. Not even a month into 2023 and we have another #MeToo in the RGC (imagine my shock). This time current owner of RemyWiki/that english bemani wiki w/ a lot of autistic trivia.
I feel it's relatively even up until like probably high 17s and 18s to 19s. The most recent KAC had a men's and women's division and the difference in level of difficulty choice and scores is pretty notable. Granted, the sample size was limited to JP players and I don't follow US tournaments so idk.
I've also seen a few streams with o4ma and his wife Shizu in the past and you can tell o4ma just has a lot more stamina on the hardest songs even though they're both pretty ripped.

I have no vendetta against tournaments and I understand why people find them fun, but yeah I find it to be too srs biz to me and this whole DEI ally crap isn't helping, among other factors. I've played with some tournament scene people before in casual settings and it's really distracting when they quit out a song early or sometimes make gestures or loudly swear at the screen when they mess up or get a "pad miss" cause that screws me up. It's funny you mention the Maxx Unlimited/Cartoon Heroes thing because I'm currently at a "limbo" stage where all the regulars I see at my arcade are either too pro or too beginner in comparison so it's nigh impossible to find people of similar skillset to play with to begin with. (I know there's online stuff like LIFE4 and SkillAttack but that's not really the same.) I also cannot for the life of me sperg about charts and techniques and all that at a rate a lot of diehard players do.
