In the Groove had some spicy charts, but a lot of the really tough ones had soul. Determinator had those lightning-fast 32nd note streams. Aliens in our Midst on doubles had some crazy patterns where you hold like four panels at once and then have to hit two more. Bloodrush's freeze-step-step-step-freeze patterns were tough as shit, but fit the song perfectly. And then Konami just kinda farts out Supernova, but deciding to go with the sttttttttttttttttttupidest idea of having uncomfortable BPM changes and stops, to where skill wasn't so much a factor as just rote memorizing the patterns. Chaos isn't a challenging chart, it's a fuckin' bullshit chart. ITG actually made you wanna pass all the tough ones.

Man, I miss In the Groove 2. I remember it getting a lot of flack back in the day, but that game was created by a dedicated group of autists who just wanted more DDR, and managed to create something with a lot of identity and personality. If ITG could be perfectly rereleased as-is today, it'd stand out amidst the endless sea of copycat games where half the song list comes from Touhou.

Well it's not like nobody can ever play it again. Unless you decide to get the PS2 version (which is ITG1 with a few ITG2 songs), there's also the PC/MAC version that has all the songs plus 5 songs that were SUPPOSED to be in ITG3 before Konami killed it.

@Celebrate Nite

Wouldn't let me direct qoute. But basically

I just stick to the hard charts or even medium I'm comfy at 9 footers generally. I love the extra mines though wish there was more charts with mines in it.

Honestly, I don't blame you. I can only do 9 footers on Expert, and even some of those give me a hard time.

If mines and 9 footers are your thing, you should give Disconnected Mobius a go on Expert.

Apparently DDRExtreme is 20 years old today, which gives people another thing to celebrate as well. And by celebrate i mean give their life stories.

Why the fuck did you think it was a good idea to share that information?

Hanging onto the bar is eternally cheating, no matter what anyone says :smug:

Yeah. But at high levels you will end up looking like you want to twerk if you no bar. I have to bend my knees more since I move more my legs around the pad.

Double play is no bar friendlier though.

*laughs in over the period and valkyrie dimension*

I don't think those were that bad. At least on both of those songs you get some moments to calm down.

However, whomever thought of shock arrows can go fuck himself. Those are never used right.

I like how it wasn't the people that he met the ones who "saved him". It was the retarded foot game where no one plays it right.

I never see anyone play doubles anymore on DDR, kinda sad i loved playing doubles even it was like basic or 5 footers.

I don't remember anyone playing doubles that much even back then outside of freestyling. Like I only met one person that did doubles mode and it was dynamite rave on light mode and he did like cartwheels and shit on the pad.

I made the switch to doubles a long time ago and I love it. The problem is that like 90% of the charts are complete garbage if you do them on foot. Classic songs like Holic, AM-P3, Burning The Floor and even the OG PARANOiA are the few examples I can think of where the double heavy charts are perfect, where the arrows flow between both pads with barely any crossup shenanigans that force you to spin around or shit that twist your legs to where you're prone to tripping. Basically this shit...

DJjeff(numbers) has some extreme autism. If you want to see his autism in action just look at his Bemani Central youtube channel where he just rips IIDX bgas from cropping IIDXTom's videos and call that content.

Gonna drop this little gem that popped up in my recs:
Hammer Time legit looks like alotta fun and I'll be waiting with great interest for when this comes out.
If you want to support them and all that jazz you've got about 4 days left before the kickstarter closes (it also includes the demo to download and try it out for yourselves):

is it this the thread where i can bitch about the mistreatment of pop'n music by konami? after sunny park, pop'n lost its charm. ig that peace tried to fix stuff by bringing back the iconic pop'n style for the character portraits (as lapistoria went instead with generic anime style for those).
also, fuck the bemani sound team stuff, since peace, pop'n has no new characters for that. sans was a miracle, in a sense.

imo I at least appreciate Lapistoria and Eclale bringing in QOL features, like hispeed in .1 increments and the lost modifier that helps for higher level songs, but PON as a director really fucked up the series. pop'n didn't have new characters for years and they just come in and bring sans, lmao. back years ago, pop'n used to have commission artists from all over that made some really nice music, and had a lot of good character designs. Now that most of the art team left, and the bemani sound team shit happened, it feels really damn stale.

I've been wanting to play pop'n again, but the new songs don't appeal to me at all. it just feels like any other anime game out there and it's depressing. I miss the soul in pop'n music 15-17, lmao. What's your favorite pop'n game, by any chance? Not a lot of people play that game nowadays.

i'm waiting that nbiri, the lone magical 4 member still missing a solo song, gets it. but it's been years... you know that pop'n went the shitter even when it got the bandmeshi stuff, they didn't bother to make characters for them. at least the hinabitter members got them... (i also blame hinabitter and bandmeshi from making tomosuke appear in bemani every death of pope, but that's another story. where's the next entry of the kuroneko dungeon series, reeee)
i played pop'n one single time, sadly. but it was fun. if i gotta pick a fav version, i'd say fantasia. fun mimi and nyami designs, cool theme. eclale and the cancelled welcome to wonderland are runner ups for mimi & nyami fits.

Ive never been blessed to play a pop'n game, are you playing on an emulator or just arcading it? I ended up getting a force level 5 for taiko and don't regret it one bit. Works okay on the switch but the PC is a beast at least with the web taiko i've got infinite song choice too.

DALLAS — James "Buster" Corley, one of the co-founders of the successful "eatertainment" company Dave & Buster's, has died at 72.

Corley died Monday, Jan. 2, at his home near White Rock Lake.
The Dallas Police Department said that officers who responded to the scene found a man with an "apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound." Police said they then took him to a hospital, where he died. The family later confirmed to WFAA that the man was Corley.

"Buster Corley had a stroke four months ago that caused severe damage to the communication and personality part of his brain," Corley's daughter Kate Corley said in a statement to WFAA. "The family asks for privacy during this time."
