So this last episode...

Morty has to cut off his dick for the greater good...something that Jerry went through way back in Interdimensional Cable II.

They had Morty make decisions that made things increasingly worse...something they've done several times in past seasons (Mr. Jelly Bean episode, Goodbye Moonmen episode, etc.)

And they are back to portaling in and out of trouble, completely undoing the effects of last season's finale.

Forget the noticeable drop in quality. Is Rick and Morty getting stale and boring?
Yet another episode centered on a child's dick.

They really want to make Rick a better person. I want to see where this goes.
Typical of current female writers, they mistake making someone likable and somewhat sympathetic with emasculating him.
The first seasons had Rick be a fun character by having him go on fun adventures, have friends and occasionally dial down when someone was about to be hurt. The last seasons Rick goes on extremely selfish ventures, has no friends and is incredibly cruel to his family

It's in stark contrast to the 1st season where Morty is molested by that lolipop king and Rick goes back to kill the guy.

Typical Harmon creating interesting and engaging characters in the first 2 seasons, only to jerk himself off for being so "Meta" by flanderizing and bastardizing them into something unrecognizable in the following seasons.

Its community all over again, except he gets to be its lead writer for all of it.

And Roiland allowed it to happen and cashed his checks just like Groening and Seth McFarland have done.

This happened as early as the first season with the Cronenberg shit. That would have killed the show right there if it wasn't that they managed to be funny for at least two seasons more.

Finale would have been great if they just removed the dumb lightsaber shit and kept it focused on rick and robot rick. As it is 20% of the episode is intresting and 80% is random bullshit that's meaningless because its not going to affect the status quo. And the ending is shit too, they just handwave it and go "eh whatever".

I don't understand rick and morty writers. They made an intresting world and intresting characters that people want to see more of and instead of trying to make a good story that explores that they intentionally steer away from that and mock anyone who cares. Nihilism is poison.
Still, no incest and I like Keith David as the President, so that's better than usual I guess.

Beth has sex with her twin and there's an entire episode about jerry fucking his mother.

He knows. He was just praising the finale for not having incest. Anyway, my brother said the finale doesn't have a plothole because "the President is a dick." I still don't think that's a good enough reason for him to take Morty's ligthsaber. Maybe all the ones made for him could have been red, orange, or yellow, and he just wanted a blue one?

Ended up watching the entire series recently. Originally I stopped around the time S3 aired, not quite sure why, I vaguely remember some controversy about it at the time.
The first episode was so unfunny I almost dropped it right there but I persisted and S1/2 were actually a pretty good time.
S3 definitely feels a bit different tonally but it was still pretty amusing. Bad finale however. S4 was the definite lowpoint though, I'd just go entire episodes without even smirking although it still had its moments like Summer ruining the S4 premiere.
S6 actually felt like a bit of a return to form, some episodes like the Beth selfcest ones were pretty funny.
You can definitely feel the politics of the writer seep in at times though. I can laugh at cops and white/black people jokes but when the writer probably unironically buys into it it loses some of its charm.

Still, there's a bit of a disconnect between the adventure of the week and serialized format, especially if you're gonna make that many meta jokes about it. You can do better than 1/2 episodes per season. I'd be just fine without any plot progression but if you're gonna do it, actually put some effort in. The last finale is a prime example. it's 90% random bullshit and 10% teasing Rick Prime
Also bring back Planetina, you hacks.

I'M WIFE BEATER RIIIICK
Justin Roiland, the star and co-creator of the animated comedy series “Rick and Morty,” has been charged with felony domestic violence in Orange County, California, in connection with a 2020 incident, according to a criminal complaint filed in May 2020 by the Orange County District Attorney. He appeared in court Thursday for a pre-trial hearing.

Roiland pleaded not guilty in 2020. Roiland and his attorneys didn’t respond to requests for comment.

NBC News obtained the criminal complaint in the case, which charges Roiland, 42, with one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud and/or deceit. NBC News is the first to report publicly on the case.

The complaint states the incident occurred on or about Jan. 19, 2020, against an anonymous Jane Doe who was dating Roiland at the time.

According to Orange County Superior Court records, Roiland pleaded not guilty to both charges in October 2020. Since then, the case has been the subject of more than a dozen court hearings, including pre-trial hearings. A trial date is not currently set.

Many court records remained sealed but the available public documents seen by NBC News say Roiland was charged in May 2020. Roiland was arrested and released on a $50,000 bond in August 2020 and arraigned in October 2020.

A protective order filed in October 2020 and documented in the court minutes said Roiland is not to harass, threaten or surveil the person named in the protective order, who is not known to NBC News. Roiland cannot go within 100 feet of the person, according to the order, which also ordered Roiland to turn in any firearms he owned or possessed. The order lasts until October 2023, and it’s not known who submitted the request for the order.

Details of the case, including police body camera footage, police reports, abuse investigation reports, medical reports and recordings of interviews are currently being withheld from the public under a protective order. The affidavit in support of Roiland’s arrest is also sealed.
During Thursday’s hearing, Roiland’s attorney confirmed there is a plea offer available to Roiland, but did not discuss details. The brief hearing concluded a moment later with an agreement to convene again on April 27. Roiland was ordered to attend the hearing.

Roiland is best known for Adult Swim’s “Rick and Morty,” which has spawned a billion-dollar media and merchandising franchise and is one of the most popular adult television comedies. The show’s sixth season aired in September 2022, and a seventh season was ordered by Cartoon Network as part of a long-term deal for 70 new episodes. Roiland, in addition to co-creating the series with Dan Harmon, voices the two titular characters.

Adult Swim, whose parent company Warner Bros. Discovery also owns Cartoon Network, declined to comment.

Over the past three years, as the domestic violence case has inched along, Roiland’s career has progressed. He released an NFT art collection with over a dozen works in 2021, which sold for over $1.65 million. He released another NFT project in 2022. Roiland also sold his first painting via Sotheby’s auction in 2021.

Roiland also co-created and voiced the main character in Hulu’s “Solar Opposites,” which debuted in 2020 and was renewed for a fifth season in October 2022. Most recently, he was behind Hulu’s “Koala Man” series, the first episode of which was released this month.

Roiland also released the video game “High on Life” in 2022, which he developed through his studio Squanch Games. It became the top-selling game on Steam and the fourth most-played Xbox game the week of its release. Roiland won an Emmy for “Rick and Morty” in 2020 and a Hollywood Critics Choice Association TV award for the show in 2022.

The finale had a major plot hole: If the President had droids with lightsaber arms/eyes made for him, why did he need Morty's lightsaber? He could have just had his own custom lightsaber.
I think it does work because the president has always been shown to be resentful and jealous of Rick having the better, cooler tech, and he and Morty have gone at each other as well, so he wants to take Morty's lightsaber away purely to be an asshole out of spite towards the two. Small praise but sometimes the show deserves it
