Rick and Morty

I was rooting for Soul Train or Ghost Train or whatever his name was. Sole survivor ended up being the most forgettable character, sadly.

Alan Rails, hands down my favorite Vindicator.

Personally I feel that Vance was the most forgettable. Supernova had some good development and was visually captivating. "We had a child and it died inside me because it was half a million ants and half collapsing star!"

I kinda wish Million Ants had lived.

Million Ants seemed like a good guy. Ant. Colony of ants.

The "every 10 adventures" stamp card at the very beginning, and the fact that Morty has learned how to diffuse Drunk Ricks' Neutrino bombs, made me crack up.

There was a fan theory that the Rick we see in the cold open to the pilot wasn't C-137 because that Rick destroyed his universe's version of Earth. That little nod seems like a direct rebuttal. As a continuity fag, it's nice to see some of the issues in the pilot addressed.

You have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewers head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

I like the show. It's amusing and the characters are great.

Wow, that line isn't so cringeworthy at the slightest. coughyesitislookbackatitandbeashamedofyourselfdigibro

I like the show btw.

I liked the part when Rick tried to show how interchangeable the heroes were. It felt like a big middle-finger to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it's formula.

Also the fact Morty has had so many encounters with blackout drunk Rick he's even more jaded than usual. The fact a neutrino bomb is treated as routine is certainly different from how we were first introduced to Morty back at the start of s1.

I'm a few episodes into season 2 on Hulu.

I find something new to appreciate about this show with every episode I watch. The plots are well crafted and incredibly creative. The characters are well-rounded and likable. The humor strikes a rare and welcome balance between bleak darkness and good-natured ribbing. The random, ridiculous gags are a cut above the typical Adult Swim stoner jokes. It can be cringy without being the mean-spirited, Seth Macfarlane kind of cringe.

Finally, I love how Rick is the Doctor if he were a crazy drunken asshole, but deep down really cares about his grandkids.

The way I see it, if the recent episode is any indication, Rick can't just let Morty know he cares about him directly - anything to avoid inflating the kid's ego or falsely enhancing his self esteem. Morty needs to be able to improve such on his own - something he has yet to get, honestly.
Same goes for Summer, albeit in a lesser sense, as she doesn't have these issues Morty does (thankfully enough, too.).

Yeah, this show is smarter than it appears on the surface AS stupidly advertises it on, and I fucking love it.

Rick and Morty fan theorists are low IQ autistic lolcows. It's a series simply full of pop culture parodies, and itself started as a Back to the Future Flash parody of Morty giving Rick head. It's not fucking Evangelion.

I do buy it as a call back to Mr. Goldman living in the sewer, but yeah, that too just means its scat humor.
From what I saw, Mr. Goldenfold coming out of the manhole was a parody of a famous movie I forget.
