How will Bob react to seeing the Mario film?

Curious question to you all, how was Bob bullied in high school? Did he say in his Bob how did they pick on him?

From Bob's autobiography and the way his teachers wanted to pump him full of ritalin, I'm guessing that in school he acted as a know-it-all pain in the ass who REEE'D whenever anyone had the gall to disagree with him. From that, I can only conclude that Bob's "tormentors" were normal kids who took things into their own hands whenever Bob had an "episode." (At least up until the day Bob became too big to stuff into a regular school locker....so at like....age 8....)

Can someone explain what Ready Player One is and what is Bob's fixation on it? I have no interest in it because what I'm gathering from people talking about it is it's some adaptation of a book that's about """video games""" in that cheesy "doesn't actually know what they're on about" way that you see in things like Captain N and Bob is drawn to it because he wants it to lecture people on why people who play video games are bad people because it validates his bullshit which he can use to beat people over the head with.
Charlie and the Chocolate factory by way of Slumdog Millionaire for nerds. Protagonist wins the ownership of the biggest infotech company and gets a beautiful girl, all for being savvy about useless pop-culture trivia. And on top of that he also gets to delete his enemies' avatars! Isn't that what life's all about?

He's never gone into details but he's easy to provoke, incredably obnoxious and mallajusted enough that the teachers stepped in combined with that children/teens can be predatorial little shits I suspect general mockery and ostrazation with a light sprinkling of beatings and cruel pranks depending on how rough his school was.
He's not runty so I suspect nobody wailed that much on the fat sperg with anger problems but their are a thousand ways to torment and abuse.

No one is going to miss King Leopold and the Congo Free State. Chinese investments in Africa are mostly out to make a profit with a side benefit of infrastructure for the locals, but they're not cutting off people's hands and crucifying them for not meeting the rubber quota.

I'm pretty sure that's how the European visitation started too...

We'll see how the Chinese visit ends. Given how they treat their own citizens... may not be pretty.

Bob is upset another guy got his video game book turned into a movie before his.

(geez, can you just imagine the film of "brick by brick"? maybe it can be disaster artist 2)

Given his usual ability to interpret things, I wonder if he was even that bullied. People probably just ignored him or maybe tried to put him through some of the usual "hazing" rites and he sperged out. Heck given his ego he probably interpreted everybody not falling down in worship of him as horrible oppression.

(I've worked with people like that. Tell them: "it's not all about you" and they practically have a heart attack.)

No, King Leopold literally claimed the entire Congo Free State as his personal property, without asking anyone there for permission first. The Chinese investors are there by the consent of the local governments. Yes, the local governments end up in debt to them and are therefore in a position of vulnerability, but they're still sovereign. The Berlin Conference just divided the land up as if no one lived there.

I can't see the Chinese wanting to fight endless Bush Wars either by assuming control of those sovereign states. The 19th century conquests only happened because it was machine guns against spears. Once Africans learned to use modern weapons and guerilla tactics, they became much harder to suppress. See Algeria, the Portuguese colonial war, Rhodesia, South Africa, etc.

King Leopold ruled 1865 to 1909. Even if we discount Rome's taking of North africa as not part of Europe's visit, we still have things like cape verde established in the 15th century and the earlier coastal forts centuries before. Which is the point. Europe first showed up just wanting to do business. It took awhile before Europe started direct controlling territory.

Maybe china will wait a few centuries themselves before doing the same. We'll see...

It's not even that, it's how dare those people even have their opinions displayed next to mine*?

* Obligatory LMAO because his opinion isn't even on there in the 1st place.

Wow, it's almost like those were unrealistic expectations, Bob!

I love how just because a few critics loved it at SXSW, Bob is beginning to make his U-turn, which is as slow as an 18-wheeler..

More Ready Player One hater shaming.

I feel that capped tweet really hit home for Bob, huh?

WTF? Film criticism has always been one of the least "Bro-ish" professions, you wouldn't even describe the great critics like Roger Ebert (RIP) as "Bros", although now he looks infinitely bro-ier compared to the soy crowd.

By "bullied" he probably means that everyone laughed at the tall fat stinky kid playing Pokemon MARIO all day on his gameboy.
FTFY.

Now THAT's a poll we could run. "How would you have bullied MovieBob if you'd been in school with him?"

I'm gonna go for something simple and say I'd draw a picture of Bob kissing Mario and run off a couple hundred copies of it.

I probably would have frisked his Gameboy and put his game cartridges in the toilet because I can be a real jerk and in the long run would have lead Bob to socialize better.

Yes, but the technology gap is closing, so Africans are a lot harder to conquer than they were when they mostly only had spears. If the European powers had had to face large armies or militias all equipped with modern rifles and guerilla warfare tactics (as in, say, the Portuguese colonies during the Colonial War, which ended in the colonies' independence after the Portuguese Army was unable to fully suppress them), they'd have been far more hesitant to commit to conquering Africa as opposed to just trading with it.

The population dynamics have changed as well. Europe had a bigger population than Africa until the 1990s, and now Africa's is over twice as large. It's a lot harder to face a rebellion that's multiple times bigger. A revolt in, say, Ethiopia (population 100 million or so) could be millions strong. 19th century Africa was very sparsely populated by comparison.

I wish I could worry about trivial bullshit too.

Some of us have the resources and ability to care about actual other living things and have real dogs, Bobbo. But that requires actually feeding, exercising with them, training, and caring for them. And you're only good at doing one of those things for yourself...

I would photoshop a picture of his head over Kathy Bates and Kevin Fiege’s head over James Cann’s head in Misery given his MCU fetish and print off hundreds of copies and place it everywhere on the school lockers.

I would also hack into the school computers and rewrite the math problems and them involve Bob eating greasy bacon cheeseburgers two times a day and finding the answer to see how likely he will die of a heart attack.
