I know. Bears saying, though - just knowing what a guy like, say, Bob must think first is what makes it go from sad to disgusting.

To my mind, Bob is a perfect example of a nutjob centrist, except he's convinced he's a leftist and therefore only believes leftist conspiracy theories.

Bob does break the left-wing/right-wing dichotomy that most associate with politics. His only consistently held view is his unshakable and very much childlike belief in a post-scarcity future were humans are terraforming planets and exploring the galaxy by the end of this century. Similarly, he believes that an one-world state like United Earth from the Star Trek series is inevitable and that an increasingly authoritarian oligarchy headed by an intellectual elite is the only way it will come to pass. As many Kiwis before me have noted, Bob is not detail-oriented and lacks insight into how politics and human nature work. He assumes that his vision of the future will work because people are replaceable gears in a machine. Remove the people that refuse the dictates of "the enlightened" and replace them with a group that are more pliable to his choice of government. Never mind the complexities behind immigration, economics/trade, or governance. It will all work on belief alone according to him.

It kind of was analyzed because a lot of shit came out by lower level staffers and others more honest who worked in the campaign, but TDS took over and it was swept under the rug lest Shillary’s terrible record be tarnished.

Yeah the interesting thing about Bob is that he is what Slavoj Zizek calls over-orthodox. He takes all the uncomfortable implications of liberal centrist ideology and just says them out loud, with an added "...and that's a good thing!" A lot of Hillaryite urban liberals probably do believe somewhere deep down that Americans in the south and midwest do not deserve health care or employment because of their opinions on social issues, but most of them would never admit it out of a fear of being exposed as callous. Whereas Bob is completely shameless. The fact that he's so honest is his only redeemable quality IMO.
