CareercowRobert Chipman / Bob / Moviebob / "Movieblob" - Middle-Aged Consoomer, CWC with a Thesaurus, Ardent Male Feminist and Superior Futurist, the Twice-Fired, the Mario-Worshipper, publicly dismantled by Hot Dog Girl, now a diabetic
I'm just gonna say this: For all his bragging about how he's "reversing his diabetes", drinking as regularly as he does isn't helping.
(P.S. Bombay Sapphire & Sprite sounds fucking disgusting, and for all his bragging about financial security, it's baffling why he didn't just buy a bottle of tonic.)

So ol' bobby put out a QnA today. Nothing saucy but put here for posterity
TL;DW:
Q&A
Q: Why do people react so strongly to your content?
A: Well my unscientific read is "They hate me, cuz they ain't me!"
Q: Are you gonna make more "If I pitched it" videos
A: Yes, but those take a while.
Q: Favorite Kaiju game? Mines Shadow of the Colossus.
A: Rampage. I like SotC but I don't think that counts.
Q: what are your best and worst videos?
A: In my opinion my Comics Are Weird and Schlocktober episodes.
Worst right now is my "Fall of Kevin Smith" videos.
Q: Favorite Mega Man Robot Master?
A: Top Man from MM3. Wood man and Frog men tied for close second.
Q: Marvel's Animated series from the 90s?
A: Pretty good overall. Silver Surfer one is underrated.
Q: Favorite anime film?
A: Vampire Hunter D
Q: Venture Bros. video?
A: Been meaning to make one, but haven't had a proper idea for one.
Finale episode looks like it's coming soon so maybe then?
Q: Worst Simpsons episode?
A: "The Man Who Came to be Dinner" wasn't funny.
I hate "Days of Future Future" for being a bad sequel episode and some personal reasons.
Q: New 52?
A: It's was whatever for me until Batman found the Comedian's pin.
Q: Could there be a 4th gaming home console competitor right now?
A: I'm surprised we still have SONY, Microsoft, and Nintendo competing against mobile gaming.
Q: Is the game industry right now comparable to the Hollywood industry in the 70s?
A: Yes. Right now we have the AAA industry which is pretty neat
but the market bubble is going to pop at any moment.
After that I'm pretty sure mobile phone & tablet gaming becomes the gaming norm.
Mobile gaming's practices not unfamiliar to the Arcade days to the 70's.
So I believe it would be just a return to the natural form of gaming.
Q: Why do you think some people react so strongly to your content?
A: uh, well my unscientific read on the situation is
they hate me, cuz they ain't me!
Q: Are you planning any more "If I pitched it" videos? would you do those here or on your own channel?
A: So I'm planning on it, as for the location it's gonna depend on leng of script, timing, and scheduling. stay tuned
Q: Do you have a favorite kaiju video game, and if so, is it rampage?
mine is shadow of the colossus.
A: it is indeed rampage. I love shadow of the colossus, though i don't know if SotC counts as a kaiju game.
Q:Looking back over all the past Big Picture episodes you made, which would you say are the ones you're most or least happy with?
A:Generally I like to revisit comics ae weird and Schlocktober episodes. I feel like they hold up the most. least favorite generally depends on time and mood. right now i'm not fond of my "fall of kevin smith videos" since I wish I hadn't made the mistake of viewing his life's work like a whole pre-planned series.
Q:Who is your favorite Robot Master in the Mega Man series?
A:Topman from MM3, with frogman and woodman as a tied second. probably also depends on the time and day.
Q:While you've made your feelings on the 90s quite clear, were you at all into the 90s animated Marvel shows on FOX? If so, how do you feel they hold up against/compare to the newer iterations.
A:X-Men was awesome of course, that was the high bar. I mean it's dated and it feels kind of silly and melodramatic now but so was the comics it was working from so what are you gonna do? Spiderman doesn't hold up as well as I would have wanted it to partly because they were trying to make it similar to X-Men and batman: the animated series at the time. so it doesn't really feel "Spider-Man enough" in some respects but it was still fun. Silver Surfer was alot better than people gave it credit for the time. Avengers: united they stand, and Spiderman: Unlimited never really do it for me. I know they don't count cuz they weren't on FOX but so was the Fantastic 4 and the Iron man series and they had really poor first seasons but then good second seasons. i don't really care for the UPN hulk cartoon
Q:What is your favorite anime film.
A:I wish I had a good answer for this but it has to be vampire hunter d.
Q: will you do a venture bros. video?
A:I 've been trying to but every time i start the show gets crazy, different, and better. we might see a finale soon so I'll hold off until then.
Q:what episode of the Simpsons do you think truly is the worst ever?
A:This is coming from a guy who still likes the Simpsons even now, but the objectively worst would be "The Man Who Came to be Dinner" since it just wasn't funny. Thought I can tell you the one episode i hate the most is "Days of Future Future" since it was just a bad sequel episode for "Holidays of future past" but there are also some extra personal reasons that I'll save for a later date.
Q:are you glad that the new 52 wouldn't be completely reverse like you said?
A: I give marvel/dc the benefit of the doubt since i thought this was just an temporary event but eventually it just got too much for me to handle (when batman found the comedian's pin)
Q: do you think it's possible for a fourth manufacturer to enter the home console market?
A:God no! it still a miracle we even have 3 home console still competing against mobile gaming.
Q:Is the change and upheaval in the game industry right now comparable to the Hollywood industry in the 70s?
A:yes. games used to be in the form of arcades, right now we have huge, bloated, blockbuster games that might not last in the wake of mobile gaming, being quite similar to the arcade days of old.
Bobby seems to not know that the reason why the total war fandom is rasing a eyebrow over this, is that them (me included) want it to be as close to historical correct as possible. That means that we don't want female generals who don't fit the time period or the culture of the factions in that timeperiod. Not every video game is like his mario shit.
Vavra did a great talk about historical accuracy and why it's important to draw a line and say "no". You base things on what you know to be true, and be as conservative as possible when filling in the gaps. In short, once you open the door to let things slide on the basis of "you can't prove it DIDN'T happen", then there is no limits. Sure, it might start small with changes to flags and the gender of soldiers, but one things leads to another until you're saying "Did the roman army have time travelling space marines in power armour riding dinosaurs with laser eyes? Well, you can't prove they didn't!".
An example of what happens if you allow this. Battlefield V. We can't prove there wasn't a British sniper with a robot arm and facepaint killing nazis with katanas and barbed wire cricket bats...
He hit the nail on the head. Deep down I've always wanted to put on 100+ pounds, get diabetes, show off my yellow fever in cringey, perverted ways, live in a basement and get into drunken, barely coherent slapfights with tankies and nerds on Twitter every day. I'm shutting down my account here so I can chase my dream.
Bob: "i can't believe anybody believes in Nationalism any more."
Later that same day...
Also Bob: "Nationalistic movies arereal popular in China right now."
It suddenly occurs to me that with his lifestyle, Bob's pretty much self-incarcerated already. Going to jail would be a the equivalent of a health spa for him.
Bob is bigoted towards young-Earth creationists (Kavanaugh isn't one, ftr) but would defend the beliefs of somebody who thought there's a spaghetti monster on the dark side of the moon, if he/she was a Democrat. He's basically stated as much. If he was any more narrow-minded he'd be crosseyed.
Edit: Because of those q&a answers:
1. Top Man is a pretty weak answer in a game with Snake Man and Shadow Man.
2. He says he didn't care about the DC New 52 until the Watchmen tie-in. I'm not buying that he's even a fan of Alan Moore when he dissed all writers who "diverge into unrelated tangents".
Q: Why do you think some people react so strongly to your content?
A: uh, well my unscientific read on the situation is
they hate me, cuz they ain't me!
Not because I feel Bob has anything particularly trenchant to say, but simply because I want to see him poorly dancing around the considerable amount of "problematic" material. I'm sure it will end up being nothing more than a limp, "acceptable changes over time" ala Gunn but his hypocrisy is endless, so who knows what will bubble to the surface.
