Well, considering that his new avatar looks like a fat guy trying way too hard to look and be cool, I’d say it’s an improvement in that it more accurately sets the tone for all his videos.

Seems to me he's taking the rottentomatoes thing too serious, and now he sees himself as a review god whose opinions (rather than his frame) shake the very foundaton of the earth.
Annoying until you realize his vids can barely break 60k views on a good day and have a good laugh about it.

That's the thing, he makes a great deal of money, you figure everything through Patreon, geek.com, The Escapist, whatever that other website he shits out articles for, and YouTube earnings, he probably brings in at least 5k a month. What he does with it, on the other hand, is a complete and total mystery.

I think a lot of people see Shenmue as sort of a proto-Yakuza, which is a series it’s suddenly hip to like after the success of Zero. A lot of people compare the two in a sort of “how far we’ve come” sort of way.
Knowing Jim and Bob though, they’re doing it because they’re massive contrarians and disliking something universally considered brilliant and revolutionary is now the only way they can come off as edgy after bending over and taking it up the ass from their SJW overlords.

Tolkien is a staunch christian both metaphysically and philosophically critical of industrialization and admires the common mans basic decency, he's also dismissive on intellect being the same as wisdom. If anything it's impressive Bob took this long to rationalize lotr (a movie where a wizard fights a giant demon) as 'boring'.
