One thing that I still don't understand about Bob is the sheer extent of his raw searing hatred for the white working class and anything remotely connected to "Flyover Country" seeing as he's not a true and honest coastal elite by any reasonable standard.

It'd be one thing if he grew up in the South or Midwest and hates his background and upbringing like Hope Chapman or Cole Smithey, but hasn't Bob spent his entire life in the suburban Northeast? I'm pretty sure that the kids who beat his ass in the lunch line at school weren't rednecks or anything like that.

It's obvious that Bob's views of the "obsolete" are insane and irrational, but they don't even have an origin point. It's just Bob being the sociopath that he is.

We can just import all our food from China! There is no way whatsoever that could possibly backfire!

But yeah, farmers are subsidized because if the farming industry goes too badly and too many farmers end up shutting down their farms, then conditions change and we need more food, we'll be in deep shit. It's literally a preventative measure against famine.

But I guess in the superior future Destructoid articles > preventing mass starvation.
It makes "sense" when you remember that to Bob "thinkers" are the ultimate and absolute force for good in a society. "Intelligence is the only virtue" anyone?
Plato and his concept of the "Philosopher King" get brought up a lot in this thread for this very reason.
Of course to Bob a "thinker" is a vaguely defined "smart" person, i.e some latte sipping Nerd Culture faggot, who just by the sheer power of their hot takes is vital to society. You know, because Bob is the platonic form of a pseudo-intellectual.
In reality even genuine "thinkers" still rank below farmers and craftsman in terms of usefulness to humanity.
Maybe in the Superior Future articles about how the works of Shakesphere were the original Cinematic Universe, sorry for forcing you guys to remember that particular hot take, will be more important than Cletus and his corn fields but I'm not holding my breath.

The closest we've come to an origin story for this is Bob's account of the time a born again Christian Republican type guy fired Bob from a local all access cable gig (which if I remember correctly, he wasn't even getting paid for) because Bob wouldn't stop bashing The Passion of the Christ on air.

I can easily imagine that Bob sees this as a turning point that kept him from becoming a famous Roger Ebert type TV personality and he's full of seething resentment over it. He probably then relates that guy to everyone who called him a fat faggot online, and every Republican in the country, and by extension every white person who lives in a red state.

Didn't Bob say the guy firing him had a gun in his car or am I imagining that?

Because in my mind, Bob was painting that interaction as "have sympathy for me being in such a scary situation" when it could just as easily be viewed from the other end of the conversation as "holy shit Bob is so unstable people need to seriously think about defending themselves when having a difficult conversation with him"

Yeah, he said the guy took him aside to his van to tell him he was being fired and then came into work later with a gun on the lookout for him or something. He was really trying his hardest to make the other guy sound like an unhinged lunatic, but then you have to remember that Bob got assigned to get counseling in school for his rage explosions and has been known to dress like a particularly exceptional school shooter, combined with all his megalomaniac rants and how he brags online about his gun (which he probably has never shot).

There's certainly plenty of reason to believe there's another side to this story that we'll probably never hear.

There has always been the theory that the so called bullying that Bob experienced in school was done by rural, blue collar and white working class kids.

That could make sense, but didn't he go to some posh Catholic high school in suburban New England?

Any white kids who would've been bullying him would've been well-to-do preps and jocks, maybe some lower middle-class Italian Guido and Irish Southie types at the absolute most.

I doubt there were any rednecks at his school and any socially conservative fundie types would've been the black kids who had moms with enough money to keep them out of the inner-city school.

I am starting to believe that the bullying was done by regular kids, and the bullying consisted of them saying "shut up Bob, we were talking about girls. Nobody wants to hear about Mario"

Bob has (apparently) lived in two places his entire life, his parent's house and his brother's basement, both in a Boston suburb.

Bob projects both his love for the cosmopolitan and his disdain for the rural. He has no real experience, perspective, or engagment with either.

In bobs mind if you starve you deserved it

Philosopher King Robert is right in a way. Who among us has the foresight, iconoclasm and bravery to build up a fat store for several winters leaving us to simply wait until Saint Ocasio-Cortez swoops down on middle America in her terrifying grace and obliterates the obsolete mayonnaise ghouls with nothing more than a pointed comment and a withering glance?

Because they are basically his version of "da joos", a faceless mob who are at fault for everything wrong in the world and most importantly everything wrong in Bob's life.

I nominate this classic.

"It doesn't matter that I'm a big unhealthy fatass who writes for The Escapist because I'm more creative and intelligent than you are."

The weirdest thing about Bob to me is that he defended James Rolfe when he was getting dogpiled by damn near EVERYONE on Twitter:

That's the most lucid take I've ever seen anyone make on Twitter, considering who its coming from.
