I get the feeling the Escapist booted Bob because of the dramatically falling standards of his videos. When I used to watch him, his views were far more reasonable. He wasn't the greatest, and he did say some dumb things, but at his worst all he could really be accused of was being a bit too blunt about his personal views. Then suddenly he jumps sites and his videos turn into rabid screaming about anything and everything that remotely offends him, with none of the research or insight that characterized his earlier materials.

That said, I'm only talking about his film reviews for the most part. I've never watched the Game Overthinker, but by most accounts it's been consistently as bizarre as his later-day stuff. I wonder what made him go off the deep end.

I'd say that his Escapist contract forced him to reign in his more spregy side, and he eventually began to chafe against it. Publishing his book, shilling it furiously in his own videos, and letting it be revealed just how freaking mental he truly is were probably strong catalysts for his eventual firing.
