Do you think his spirited defense of Cuties combined with his feuding with Memeology101 might have been the last straw? Because that's the first thing that springs to mind for me. He's been pulling very unimpressive numbers and getting into slap fights on Twitter for a long time, but if the higher ups saw that he was not only defending the notorious pedo movie and catching a lot of heat for it, but very publicly butting heads with a Youtuber who regularly gets two or three times more views than he does over it, that might well have been what got them to realize that this guy is absolute brand poison.

I liked his Let's drown out series, there are some boring episodes sure, it's inevitable when deliberately playing boring games as a premise but the chemestry of Yahtzee with Gabe is great, rather than forcing the jokes like the streams and videos with other Escapist employees they just spend the whole time making fun of each other, the audience and let the topics flow naturally with both of them having really distinct viewpoint on each issue rather than serving as politically correct yes men for one another (like in the aforementioned escapist streams)

Yeah, this is cope. His videos got no views even when he was bumming off of The Escapist's million+ subscribers, even though he claimed that wasn't a big deal because they still got tons of views on the website itself (citation needed). Now, he has no help from a big channel and has to upload everything to his personal channel that was already beginning a slow decline even before all this mess began. Any money he was making from those supposed tons of Escapist website views is gone. He's still got that $3k a month Patreon somehow, but that's also been on a downturn for months now. It seems unlikely he'll get hired at another publication; Geek.com doesn't really exist anymore (its content got folded into Mashable), and the last time he wrote for ScreenRant was July 2018 (it was for a Marvel movie, of course). His toxic internet presence is definitely a liability, and I'm sure potential hiring managers are gonna back away after spending five seconds looking at his Twitter.

Bob's in a real sink-or-swim moment (insert your own fat joke here). It's not the end of the world, but he's not in a great place. Losing out on that Escapist paycheck is going to hurt his bottom line, and unless he can find another place willing to pay him for his awful content, he's gonna be in trouble. $36k a year isn't awful when you only have yourself to support, but if that Patreon keeps dwindling, expect a much more desperate Bob than the front he's putting on.
