The only exception to this is when he gets called out by the alphabet people for some alleged offense, usually against transgenders, or when he get dumped hard. My point is, he is fully cognizant of what he's advocating for and proud of it. In short, Bob is a kind of evil on par with many of the world's most evil dictators, and only the fact that he's an unlikeable loser stands in the way of him purging the people he hates.

If we can go back to the Firefly/Serenity Bobposting for a moment, one point really struck me. Not his takes on Firefly, I don't know anything about Firefly (I'm not a nerd). It was his tweet that Firefly is a movie your "college friends" drag you to. I really wonder, what sitcom did Bob get that scenario out of? Bob didn't have friends in college, he didn't have friends in college "dragging" him to movies. Bob watched movies in college the same way he watches movies now: alone, in the dark, stuffing his face with junk food, to block out the outside world with loud movie sound and flashy distracting visuals.

Nothing really. It's mostly just nostalgia of going to video stores when you were a kid and picking out movies to rent. I don't necessarily fault people for having fond memories of browsing the racks of movies with your parents, but the rose-tinted glasses ignore all the shitty business practices like the exorbitant late fees that fueled Blockbuster's business model, as well as a hyperfocus on new releases that didn't give consumers a lot of options for older titles, unlike smaller chains or independent stores. They died because they failed to adapt to changing business models, rolling out a rent-by-mail service years after Netflix launched (and even taking a pass on buying Netflix back in 2000), debuting a lackluster streaming service that quickly folded, and proving unable to compete with Redbox's lower prices and more widespread availability (compare the operating costs of a medium-sized retail location with a small kiosk that can be set up virtually anywhere). While I get that people can get nostalgic over just about anything, companies come and go all the time, and having your online presence revolve around a defunct video rental store is pathetic.

It's been pointed out before, but for someone that constantly harps on about natural selection and how the obsolete being wiped out is a good thing, it's ironic that Bob has such a love for Blockbuster, a classic example of a business going under due to a failure to adapt.

The only thing I really remember about the Blockbuster near me is that the autistic manager was convinced that LaserDisc would eventually crush VHS. and he somehow managed to order hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of LaserDisc product over the years. There may have been 3-400 LaserDisc players in the greater metropolitan area. This went on for years, as the LaserDisc area of the store grew and grew, the gold discs forlornly sitting there. No one buying, no one renting. I don't know how he got away with it. There was a family-run store nearby which lasted a pretty long time. They were the first store I ever saw rent video games and game systems. Starting with the original NES. And quickly, too, in a matter of months. I think the vidya rental kept the store alive a lot longer than most independent video rental stores. The guy running the store was pretty young and caught on to trends quickly. They may have outlasted the Blockbuster, come to think of it.

I only went, what, a couple of times to a Blockbuster with my dad to rent cartoons (I still remember when we brought Pinky & The Brain and Silverhawks tapes, good times were had that weekend), and when they started waning, almost nobody lamented, as it happened around the time high-speed internet became popular and people were now downloading movies and series for free on the webz. Shit quality, yeah, but still free. It's more of a "Remember when we did that? Thank fuck nowadays it is easier" kind of memory, not something you actively miss and wish it was still around. It goes to show not everything from the past was better, which stunted people like the Chipman brothers seem to think.

To carry on with the comparisons to famous dictators, Bob reminds me of Heinrich Himmler.
