I disagree on the manchildren point. Many people writing these are women and troons. It's a power fantasy, but a lot of it has a "fuck you dad!" vibe.

The thing about Joss Whedon, Harvey Weinstein, James Gunn, or any of these abusers, is that if they were anyone else, no woman would give them the time of day, much less have sex with them. It's only because they're in a position of power that women give these men sex, with the understanding that they will in turn give the women what they want. This cycle of coercion and abuse is a staple of Hollywood.
Of course, if Hollywood followed Bob's advice and "turn[ed] this whole thing off" we wouldn't get any more Whedonesque capeshit, which would probably break Bob.

Oh and the best adult take on Scooby Doo was the 2000s movie and the Supernatural episode where the Scooby Gang dealt with an actual ghost and lost their minds.
I just watched the video @Neko GF posted yesterday of Bobs take on the anime series. It is amazing how stiff, awkward and serious he is when talking about a cutesy show and its history. At one point in the video he explains that the show was made as a tie-in to the Godzilla films that were coming out in Japan at the time and how they made a bunch of other merchandise and commercials to sell toys. He shows footage of one commercial of Godzilla and MechaGodzilla as news anchors fighting each other in the studio over which toy is better. He presents this in a clinical and dry way while I'm laughing my ass off at the two guys in the costumes going at it. Half the video was him talking about commercials for toys without any joy whatsoever for the product itself, like the whole purpose of Godzilla is that he's just a commercial to sell toys.

A lot of it has to do with her long time VA being gay, I think.
Technically, she was canonically bi in Mysteries Inc. Despite that, it's by far the best series Scooby Doo ever did.

VAs aren't the characters. Patrick Stewart may play Jean Luc Picard, but he sure as shit isn't that character. Sigourney Weaver is also not Ellen Ripley.

Bob and other neckbeards being confused over the sexuality in Bayonetta is always funny to me, because it comes down to them not realising that a woman can be sexy without the focus being on her relationships. Her entire character is basically just being overwhelmingly sexually attractive, confident and capable, and most other important characters are similar. It'd be pretty funny to try to explain to Bob that a woman can be sexy without being obsessed with finding someone to fuck.
