How will Bob react to seeing the Mario film?

What the hell's he talking about? What does religion have to do with it? Is he trying to attack critics of Islam? Because if he is, it doesn't make sense to use a completely unrelated story that doesn't involve religion.

That's exactly what he's doing. The point he's trying to make, I think, is that it's just as valid to hang this scumbag's religion on his actions as it is when Islam is hung as a motive on suicide bombers and the like. As dumbass a position as I expect Bob to hold, and delivered in as unappealingly smug condescension as he does everything else.

The problem here is that those suicide bombers are pretty unambiguous about being motivated by Islam. This guy on the other hand has said nothing about religion being a factor so the comparison falls apart. To say Bob is reaching here is an understatement as massive as he is.

Unless you consider white supremacism a religion, which admittedly people in one Community Watch thread (https://kiwifarms.net/threads/the-creativity-movement.28664/) do, you can't possibly put something like that down to religious motivation.

The only way Chipman has a slight point is that the 2011 Norway massacre was actually motivated by Christian fundamentalism, but that was several years ago and on the other side of the Atlantic.

Not to get too far into arguments that go beyond Bob himself, but that's a pretty key element of downplaying Islamic terrorism and right-wing / general American fear of it: "Oh, the problem is just religion itself." So we hear about Oklahoma City and George Tiller's murder ad nauseam while the dozens of Muslim terrorist acts get brushed over as soon as the killer's identity becomes known.

Bob is pretty exceptional in throwing it at this guy so quickly, though.

The irony of the association of white supremacy and a collection of stories about Jewish Arabs will never stop being funny to me.

People in the Biblical Levant mostly weren't Arabs. The Arabs didn't really leave Arabia, merchants and travellers aside, until the rise of the Islamic caliphate in the 7th century.

The main languages in use were Aramaic, Greek, and Hebrew.

One thing I like is how prominent the Deus Ex poster is in the anti-thinker episode. Because nothing says 'dudebro' like a game that heavily references classic literature and fringe political theory.

Also, there's been lots of studies linking Alzheimer's and eating lots of junk food. Bobbo better watch out or eventually his feet won't be the worst thing he loses.

Fuck, maybe his content would improve after losing half of his brain mass to early onset dementia.

A while back he threw a shitfit over the latest one and when he started mocking it over its freedom of choice regarding its racial themes (to people like Bob, offering any choice to people with different opinions is problematic), people rather unsurprisingly came out of the woodwork to point out to defend the game. The thing that got me though was when he said he was surprised people were going out of their way to defend, in his words, "a fucking Deus Ex game."

Bob seems totally unaware of Deus Ex's pretty profound legacy among gamers and that it had always been tackling mature subjects in a thoughtful way. He probably dismisses it because it's a dang, dirty first-person game.
