I know this sounds stupid, but his Terminator pitch really irked me. It boiled down to him redefining the series into the jocks vs. nerds paradigm that he views the world through where the nerds are the good guys and he can vicariously live his fantasies of sticking it to the people who bullied him in high school in a very transparent manner. People in the comments section would respond to that criticism with saying "but all art is grounded in the author's view", to which I say a good author doesn't make their views blatantly obvious. George Lucas said that Star Wars was inspired by his protestation of the Vietnam War and participation in the counterculture movement where the Empire is a parallel to the American government, but most people wouldn't know that upon a cursory glance (with many comparing it instead to Nazi Germany or even the British Empire), because he directed it in a way that doesn't blatantly call attention to it. Whereas what Bob's pitching is just an excuse to project his view of "certain people have the right to rule over others due some nebulously defined ideal of superiority, and fuck anybody who doesn't fit that ideal, they can just waste away on welfare" ideology that is familiar to anyone who reads his Twitter, which is a classist and anti-humanitarian angle that misses the point of a series that is at its core pro-humanity in the sense that it says that we must avoid eliminating what makes us human in our strive to advance the future. It's like making Game of Thrones into a series about killing working-class people.
