"If you got nothing to hide, then why do you mind losing all your privacy?"

God it's that 9/11 fearmongering all over again.

I think of a theme song for him and his Superior Future:

If you've done nothing wrong
you've got nothing to fear
If you've something to hide
you shouldn't even be here

We're concerned
you're a threat
You're not integral
to the project

And for some reason he retweets this picture twice, in quick succession:

If someone explains it to you, would you understand?
So, does he have any problems with it other than ideological wrongthink? Honestly whenever critics do this kind of thing it says just as much, if not more, about them as it does the film.

That comic is one of the worst things to happen to the Bill of Rights. It just gave smarmy neckbeards an out when someone says something they disagree with. Pure cancer in stick figure form.
I wonder if, and let's be honest here about the smug morass this attitude has come from, SJWs would be okay with being treated in this way. I doubt they would like to be no-platformed very much. Look at how much Nora Reed likes those blocklists.

Randall Munroe is a nu-male pussy of the worst order, but that's absurdly hyperbolic. I don't think a stick figure webcomic is equivalent to the Japanese American internment.

How exactly is Trump's family a dynasty? I mean, he's the only elected official in his family and so far his children haven't expressed interest in becoming president. If it's because his family is being granted government clearance, well then that's stupid because they're his family and they should at least have some access, considering they're related to the leader of the country.

If anything the dynasty argument holds more water against Hilary than it does Trump, but of course Hilary can do no wrong as far as Bob's concerned.

Agreed on the hyperbole part, but this isn't the first place that execrable comic has raised its ugly head. Randall Munroe is very smart when it comes to the hard sciences, and so all the people who read XKCD with an air of awe because they only barely understand half the stuff he talks about treat him as a kind of unimpeachable source. None of them seem to recognize his interpretation of the First Amendment (and his conflation of it with the right to free speech, which while obviously related still aren't quite the same thing) is revisionist twaddle. I don't know if Bob himself has ever referenced it, but his and porkchop Tony Goldmark's understanding of it are very similar to it.

Nope, he's just mindlessly repeating what he learned from a xkcd comic (or, given that he's too dumb to read himself, he's repeating what some fellow exceptional individual learned from the comic):View attachment 212074
This comic doesn't apply to Berkeley because it's a public school that is banning conservative speakers which is disenfranchising students from hearing that speech. Public schools like UC Berkeley aren't allowed to do that shit.

Ann Coulter is just a conservative troll and if you get upset by what she says you're a pathetic, low iq moron.

Agreed. A private university has much more leeway when it comes to these issues because if it's held on university grounds, it's private property and an issue between two private "citizens." A publically funded state university does not have that excuse, and the federal government is bound by the Constitution to uphold the Bill of Rights so they can easily unfund UC Berkeley for violating them.

SMH, I'll never understand why Bob keeps throwing away his convictions in order to score brownie points with whatever leftist authoritarian movement is most popular in his head.

I mean, :autism: and e-begging spring to mind, which it still blows my mind that fatass over here gets $3250 a month from people who either don't know or don't care what comes out of his mouth.

I always wondered where that error came from. it's hard to exlaborate on the sheer number flaws but three spring to mind
1) it works on the assumption that moral principles are only upon the goverment, that the citizens are under it do not have to respect each others civil liberties.
2)the goverment is the only actual source of power which can be used to limit civil liberties in society.
3)it works on the assumption the person being silenced is in the wrong.

I recall the American Family association has used this exact logic to undermine civil liberties for gay people for decades, wonder if the homo's they shouted down count as "assholes"?

Bob by his own admission doesnt have any convictions.

I've always hated that comic but I just could never articulate why it bothered me so much. This hits the nail on the head though and I'm glad someone finally broke it down as to why it sucks. I'm so sick of people like Bob acting like human rights are granted by the government rather than respected by it.

It sucks for a lot of reasons. One thing that always hit me is that it's 100% wrong right out the gate: 1st Amendment jurisprudence has placed many, many more constraints on what the government can and cannot do to limit your freedom of speech besides "arresting you" for it.

You're expecting a career autist like Randall "I have a ball pit in my living room" Monroe to know that.
