@KingDead I think that brings up an interesting point. Even if Bob's takes weren't stupid as fuck, the internet is oversaturated with content about popular entertainment like the MCU. If you can't do something better than other people, it's better to do something different. RLM of course can do both, but I think the fact that they do plenty more than just talk about the big tentpole movies sets then apart from the people they make fun of on the podcast with effort The Nerd Crew.

It's also something that IIRC Razorfist brought up in one of his vids dunking on Bob. The guy's had plenty of chances that most people would kill for: he got in on the ground floor when being a Youtube critic was something new and fresh, he got gigs working for multiple websites, he had a couple mega-popular videos, and he was even mentioned by Howard Stern of all people. Yet despite all this, he's never managed to parley those many chances into further success. His videos barely get any views, he's been fired from every gig he's ever gotten (except for MatPat currently, and even that is probably only because he's doing the autistic gruntwork that nobody else wants to do), and his only income is a Patreon that's once again on the decline.

Again, contrast with RLM, who managed to build off of their momentum with the Plinkett reviews, creating a channel with multiple series that people will spend hours watching, wholly independent, supported by a Patreon that dwarfs Bobby's. On top of that, they have a successful video production business outside of their Youtube channel and a fanbase that's happy to continue supporting them. Or the Drinker, who's an even better Bob contrast since he produces similar "talk over mostly-related clips and images" videos, and has built a much bigger channel and Patreon in much less time, and has a pretty successful novel series to boot, unlike Bobby's literary output of Brick by Brick and his collections of blog posts.

Obviously, it's not just that Bob devotes most of his time to the popular normie shit that hundreds of other channels are also covering, because plenty of those see success where he doesn't. I think it just boils down to the fact that he's just not making things people want to see. His opinions boil down to "I'm right and you're retarded if you don't think so," and that's just not appealing to most people. You can be abrasive while still being entertaining, but if you lack the latter, you're just not going to get a sizable audience.

This is why Bob clings to his politics with an iron grip - he knows the only thing that's keeping him afloat is the fact that he hates the same things that most lefty content producers hate and he can bring up goobergrape if he wants to jump on the oppression bandwagon.
