If a war with Russia started now and was still going on in November 2024 that's almost three years of a war between two major military powers that are both nuclear powers. Since they've never experienced a major war they go "worth it" because they presume it would help Biden because "war presidents win re-election" despite the fact that, two Democratic Presidents, Truman (1952, Korea) and LBJ (1968, Vietnam) both were doing so bad in primaries they dropped out rather than continue onto the general election (that the Republicans then won on a basis of "I'll do the war better") and the object of their unceasing hatred Donald Trump (2020, Terror/Afghanistan/etc.) lost the last presidential election which was barely over a year ago and they don't even remember it. Meanwhile maybe millions could dead, something they couldn't stop bitching about for the last two years blaming Trump but they'd totally be willing for the world to suffer if it'd help Biden. Absolutely depraved insanity and inhumanity.

To be honest, I discount the prognostications of anyone who can look at a man who's spent the last year sliding from a frail and questionable geriatric to a biotech-animated zombie and say "He's definitely got three more years in him." Three months isn't a completely safe bet and they're gunning for twelve times that, plus interest.
If you want some whitepills, as we've been discussing over in the Biden thread, the DNC is painfully low on political capital to pull off any funny business like we saw in 2020. The boots that would be on the ground perpetuating fraud aren't getting the money they want thanks to Biden's agenda having stalled out in Congress, which would no doubt have had funds earmarked to worm their way down the system. Their capital is stretched thin trying to keep mostly blue districts from turning, let alone electoral fuckery. Meanwhile, Biden's approval is pretty much at its floor without the base falling out, House Dems are retiring left and right, and polling strongly favors Republicans over Democrats. (As an aside, usually Republicans make gains even when Dems have a slight lead in polls. For the GOP to have an advantage in polling could suggest a bloodbath.)
You could throw a "technically" in there with Trump by saying that the Afghanistan/Iraq wars had pretty much faded into the background of most of the population's minds. After major military operations ceased and we got bogged down in "nation-building," it felt less like a war and more like...well, just something that was happening.
Well, that, and the fact we're dealing with a nuclear-equipped state as the aggressor, part of the reason our leaders are so chickenhawkish and eager for forever wars against 3rd world nations is the notion that if all goes tits-up, the worst that happens is you get an Afghanistan: lose a lot of lives, lose a lot of material, lose a lot of face, but keep your nice, clean, un-irradiated midtown apartment and vacation home.....
