So do we know what he thinks of Super Mario Odyssey now?

Well nothing gets by Bob either, especially in a narrow doorway.

He wants Moviebob merchandise? Like what? A t-shirt that says "I'm a miserable prick who has no feet?" A MovieBob coffee mug that's three times as big as other coffee mugs to hold coffee with three times the sugar? Oh I know! A red baseball cap that's reads "In Bob We Trust!"

I know he put a book out, but I can't really imagine what other merch he could put out.

I'm guessing a no-frills black T-shirt with the logo for one of his shows slapped on it. I don't know how well they'd sell, though I hope no one buys them.

To put this in perspective (and mild :powerlevel:), but I go to a super-liberal, SJWy college. I've seen people wear ChrisRayGun (A more popular Youtuber Bob repeatedly dismisses as "some wormy Dave Franco kid") shirts around campus. I can't imagine anyone who would be caught dead wearing one of his shirts around campus.

He's self-published a bunch of books, actually. But except for Brick by Brick, they're all just collections of his essays. Why on earth you'd want to spend money on hardcopy of Bob Chipman's drivel when it's all available online for free is beyond me, but different strokes, I guess.

It shows how terrible he is as a critic as well. You don't need to be a genius to know that an all powerful government/entity casually crushing all dissent makes for a boring story. Stories in general need some form of obstacle for protagonists to deal with, whether successful or not, which is why underdog/everyman stories are extremely popular. You have a better story following the view of the dissent in such a world. Does Bob even understand how models like the Hero's Journey work? 99% of his favorites all follow that outline.

You gotta be exceptional to watch movies and video games all day and NOT get basic storytelling. The only thing he seems fit to be a critic of are candies, not movies.
"Good storytelling" to Bob is mental masturbation. Things like character arcs, pacing, and narrative tension all fall to the wayside compared to "vindicates my worldview/acts as a vessel for my revenge fantasies". If I had the most remote confidence in his brain's ability to process challenging material on even a surface level, I'd love to see Bob's reaction to any piece of media that's even entry-level challenging (Augirre, the Wrath of God in cinema, The Brothers Karamazov in literature, etc.).

I know everyone compares Bob to a Nazi (and not without cause), but this reminds me of the Soviet approach to artwork. "Make no art which does not glorify the State Superior Future, Comrade!"

He also thinks Miyamoto came to him in a dream to tell him to save video games and that one day he could meet Mario if he was successful.

This is why he's so autistically obsessed with Mario being from Brooklyn.

Nuts is an understatement, Bob is basically a vidya scientologist.
If that's true, how much do you think Miyamoto being on stage for the Rabbids thing threw him.

It's like the ideologies are two sides of the same coin but Bob would probably say that's not true.

I'd love a MovieBob review of a Werner Herzog film.

Bob is an authoritarian, and more people are familiar with the fucked up shit of the Nazis than the Communists.

I don't know yet but I would not be too surprised he gets angry over it. I think this game implies that the old games like 1981 Donkey Kong took place in New Donk City instead of Brooklyn because of all the references to that old game. Bob can't handle another game going against what he believed Mario's origin was.

Edit: Also it looks like this game is racist.

Again with the obsession with infantilizing superheroes as much as possible because "Won't someone please think of the children!?"

There's an article he wrote a while back for the Escapist that detailed some ideas for movies he had, but they all were devoid of any conflict for the sake of "subverting expectations" (I can't find it as of now).

I did find an old Escapist article of him smugly proclaiming vindication after Spider-Man joined the MCU:
