I'm pretty sure he's an outsider. He lives on the wrong coast and I never really see him in group photos that aren't obviously staged. He doesn't have a hatedom the same way Dobson does, though, and he actually makes content, so there's two things he's managed to be more functional than the blue bear at.

As far as his overall reputation, pretty much the only people who reference him positively in the scene are b-list Escapist refugees like Extra Credits and Errant Signal. I've never seen him have a back-and-forth with any of the Literally Whos (aside from those hilarious photos he was able to get standing next to Anita-senpai), he's not on any of the popular sites after Faraci threw him a bone at Badass Digest. Most games media sites don't want or need his content, and what passes for the YouTube film criticism community openly mocks him.
Most likely his big mouth and outspoken progressive and SJW politics have pretty much alienated him from anyone in the movie/game reviewing community beyond folks who agree with his politics. The average joe who just wants to see a review of a movie or a game doesn't want some fat asshole preaching their ill-informed political opinions at them; this is the same reason that liberal films like the new Ghostbusters and The Purge have been flopping in theaters as of late.

And his take on the optics of that problematic Joss Whedon Wonder Woman script:

Bob "I planned to shit on Batman v. Superman for an hour until Zack Snyder's daughter an heroed herself" Chipman supports this message:

You're right with Ghostbusters, but The Purge movies are cheap to make, and each one makes more than the last:

Okay, my bad about the Purge movie - I recall there was a lot of backlash about the most recent one, and how it was basically a not-so-subtle add for Clinton's election campaign; all the bad guys were racists and white supremacists (aka Trump supporters), and all the heroes were racial minorities except for the female "Senator Roan" who ended up being elected president.

Here's Bob smugposting about Joss Whedon and DC:

Weird, I thought he'd be all over The Young Turks. Well, to paraphrase John Peel, He's always different, he's always the same:

You know, over the years and especially reading Bob's feed, I learned not to be an asshole when it comes to people's differing opinions about pop culture. Bob's 36, and still can't wrap his head around the concept

Also, he calls the other guy "pretentious". Fuck movie screens, Bob's projecting on all the screens in Times Square:

I wonder if Bob will even grow tired of comic book movies eventually. Probably not due to :autism:

In this regard I sort of wish he was an annoying contrarian like HbomberGuy. You know, the kind that seems to want to deliberately hold opposite viewpoints just to prove how much "smarter" he is than others. I honestly am in the camp hoping that companies will allow some other type of action and blockbusters to thrive. It's because chasing the Superhero and cinematic universe money is how we got the Mummy to be apart of the Dark Universe. I forget, aside from Star Wars and Star Trek, does Bob even touch the Sci-Fi genre that much?

He generally likes mainstream things for being mainstream. So if normies like something beyond those two then he's in.

You would think someone who loved genre movies like him would touch classics like Alien, Terminator 2, Blade Runner, and any number of Sci-fi movies that helped build modern Hollywood as it is today. Then again, he would scoff at Bioshock not only for being a dirty-FPS, but also for painting his "superior Future" into a negative light.

He's talked about Terminator. Just s couple months ago he pitched a new sequel and it sucked just as much as you'd think.

Yeah, I am aware of his "fixes" to the Terminator series. I assume his way of fixing Alien franchise is going to require the android, David, to release the unexplained black goo on Middle America, wiping them all out. I was also aware of his fixes to the Escape series as well. Most all of his fixes usually involve disenfranchisement or death of large swathes of America, simply because they aren't pompous, coastal-liberal america. Honestly given his naked classism he would never get a working script past the trashcan of WB, Universal or Disney.

I'd find it funny if he ever compared his Superior Future to Star Wars instead of Star Trek. In old canon the galaxy is completely stagnant technologically, socially, politically, etc. for like the past million years (it's a plot point to explain copypasta) with everyone except humans being some form of cultural stereotype of their world. New Star Wars is only slight better with that like how they showed one point of the past looking like feudal Japan in space instead of exactly how things always looked.

I'd watch a show about Bob trying and failing to be successful as a screenwriter in LA. I'm imagining a cross between Curb Your Enthusiasm and Nirvanna: The Band The Show.

I honestly think BioShock's moral ambiguity would make Bob's head spin. Both the antagonists of the game clearly have little respect for the common man, one sees their suffering as part of the Great Chain and the other views them as pawns in his little game, so Bob might actually sympathize with them. On the other hand, both are also wealthy businessmen, especially Andrew Ryan who represents everything wrong with Objectivism, and Bob might see them as some sort of symbolism for conservatives.

Has Bob said anything about BioShock? I'd love to see his interpretation.
