Oh yeah, I forgot, the robot fuel of the future-rama.
But at least you and Bender don't get beetus from it. Bob's going to quickly become the Footless Fuhrer at this rate if he doesn't leave more booze left for the two of you.

Shove what on the "un-woke comics"? If you care enough to know who Larry Hama is, you would know that he is a very out spoken Lib.

Heck, if anyone cared enough to know about the comics creators from Marvel's hey day, one would know that they were a bunch of hippies, more so the writters, And reading back some of those books, yeah, you can tell. But here is the catch, whatever Hama's politics are, he kept it away from his wolverine comics, and I assume the G.I Joes ones as well, and so, no one gives a shit to what he thinks.

I guess Robert is too caught up on his own twitter bullshit to realise the only ones that have beef with the dangerhairs are the Comics gates retards, no one really gives a fuck what your opinions are or what you say on twitter as long as the books are good.

But it gets hard to enjoy a book when the writing is shit and bogged down by political self-rigthous rants from the hero that are so painfully juvenile, clusmy and heavy handed that it is impossible for a kid to enjoy and hard for a adult to stomach.

And look, it isn't like this preachy shit is new, ever heard of this comic:

10620-2013-11699-1-green-lantern.jpg

Written by ultra lib Dennis O'Neil (guy who made the modern Batman thta we know now), this short run of comics is about Green Arrow and Green Lantern in a road trip and encountering societal problem to discuss, and Green Arrow being obviously O'Neil's mouth piece for his takes, making the character preachy and self-rigthous.

This shit was mocked then, and it is still seen as a joke to this day, even more so by how dated and awkard the whole thing reads.

However, this was just a mini series of 7 or 8 comics (won't bother to look really), and it was in the early to mid 80's, back when comics were rocking the Phoenix Saga, Days of Future Past, Daredevil born again, Crisis on Infinite Earths, soon stuff like Dark knight, Kraven's Last Hunt (one of the best Spiderman stories) and Watchmen would show up.

And that was just the capeshit stuff, the 80's was also the time for the indie revolution with guys like Dan Clowes' eight ball and the Hernandez Bros' Love and Rockets and so many others, also made by guy very vocally liberal and some even commies.

The point of my diatribe is, yes you can say that politics were in comics since whenever, yes, comics writers are a bunch of liberal with very lefty politics, however, despise their obvious political preferences, it never affected the comics itself and they at least knew when to cut the bullshit because they knew how to engage with storytelling, that is why Claremont never stopped the Phoenix Saga to make a commentary about how Jean Grey was suffering under the patriarchal oppression of the Shi'ar empire (even if it was now a empire ruled by awoman, but you get the point) or Miller having a hot take about the homeless in america during the Born Again storyline.

And look, it isn't like the comic writers from the 80's were some high class scribes, especially the mainstream capeshit ones. Claremont wrote passable soap opera with the X-men, but never found much else outside the mutant comics, and Frank Miller relied too much on old pulp tropes and heavy handed and corny as fuck dialogue, and even Larry Hama was just a ok writter. The difference between now and then is that now, besides mediocre talent writing the capeshit stuff, they also think they are a voice of generation, and cram in their bullshit for twitter likes and Vox articles.

Also, editorial in the big two is fucked beyond recognition, but that's another talk for another.

tl,dr, Robert is fat and dumb, and I don't like him very much.

I'll point out that while Dennis was a bleeding heart liberal, he worked a ton with Chuck Dixon who is pretty conservative for a good chunk of his Batman tenure. I have a sneaking suspicion, Denny would hate guys like Blobert, especially because Bob is shitting up Denny's "side".

Also, the Green Arrow/Green Lantern book had a scene where some rando old black guy told Green Lantern he didn't do enough to help black people (in this situation, dealing with a slum lord), and Hal was some kind of prick because as space cop, defending a sector of the galaxy just wasn't enough. Politics in capeshit doesn't work because the writer wants to keep the real world status quo, so of course Reed Richards can't solve literally every problem despite clearly having the capability. It just makes the heroes look like retarded pricks.

Greenwald took on Judith Butler. Greenwald essentially says that inclusion of pee o'sea women in order to "change the conversation", as demanded by Butler, is a red herring. Changing anyone involved in the conversation, regardless of the person's identity, will "change the conversation". Butler might as well cede her place in favor of a working class woman.

Bobby is dumb. The contention is not whether someone is or isn't the creator of intersectionality; the contention is that including this person, another sham academic like Butler, does not improve the diversity of the conversation, which is Butler's purported aim.
Well, Glenn's contention wasn't that. But mine is. Crenshaw refuses to debate the merits of her absurd positions. It would be two hours or whatever of her yelling at Cornel West for being an Uncle Tom.

ALEC has been around and been very successful since 1973. (So almost as old as critical theory.) They didn't need Chris Rufo's assistance on that even though that was the first time Robert's heard of any "critical theory" subsets. In any case, this specific law is built off anti-BDS efforts, not anything related to Rufo's war on CRT. Something Robert would know if he read the article instead of just the headline.

It's worth pointing out too, that the Green Arrow/Green Lantern at least occasionally allowed Hal to be the voice of reason as Green Arrow is a hot-headed prick a good 90 percent of the time. I've pointed this out before but when Arrow finds Speedy shooting smack his first response is to beat the shit out of him (and then go track down some drug dealers, but still). Whereas Hal recognizes that he needs help and recovery and takes the measure of getting the kid to Black Canary's place to ride out his withdrawals.

Funny enough the 90's Brave and Bold series with silver age Green Lantern and Flash (written by lolcow Mark Waid of all people) has Green Arrow calling all cops fascists and both Hal (a space cop) and Barry (a police scientist) pointing out that rhetoric like that isn't helping anybody and makes it harder for decent cops to do their jobs.

It's "woke" not to bag on a guy for an international crime he had nothing to do with and would in fact become a victim of the Thinkers response to? I get Larry Hama's point, old Marvel guys were racists (we knew that), but what exactly is Robert's point here?

Movieblob's point is "CoMicS HavE AlwAYS BeEn PoLIticAL!" and "Look, see, Larry Hama, the guy who wrote all the GI Joe Stuff Since Like Forever, is WOKE! Oh and also check your privilege, FRIENDO!"

But, what Hama was doing/saying in that piece there, is not "check your privilege" in the way that Bob thinks he means it. The Marvel dudes were completely wrong about Japanese dude's side in the war. They assumed incorrect things. However, the guy never was a sperg about it either way. Unlike some of the "woke" crowd these days, who if they found themselves in dude's shoes, would wail to high heaven to H.R., the newspaper, the 6 o'clock news, anybody.

Bob, however, too stupid to know the difference between a writer writing stories (which Larry Hama can absolutely do, properly, in spite of being a super hardcore lib), and a "writer" getting political but not knowing how to write a story, like, at all, and instead of plot, using Sharing Feelingks In Hallways Or Cafes, or Have I Mentioned I'm Gay Yet For the 1,000,000th Time as a substitute.

At least he's admitting here that his mindset is one of genocide I guess. Not sure why he thinks all mindsets are genocidal though.

Can he name a single genocide carried out in the name of "all men are created equal"? I know the response, that Americans genocided the Indians (and also did slavery, another crime) but no one would seriously contend that those were carried out in the name of "all men are created equal" for the specific fact that their perpetrators denied the equal humanity of their victims.

The reason Robert is described as genocidal is not because he holds a mindset, but because he holds a specific mindset. That certain people are NOT people, that they are not "created equal" and have no human rights. And even more than that he wants them eliminated. (Except for a small subset he wishes to keep as slaves.) He says this at least once a week, if not more often! He doesn't merely advocate that anti-vaxxers die of their own choices as these "fans" are saying, that would be one thing. Instead he makes a very different argument, that those who live in states that voted for Donald Trump in 2016 should be collectively wiped out by force.

He's said to have the "mindset of genocide" because this is the only firm ideological position he holds. He will change almost any other position to suit the moment and Democratic Twitter line. But he's been quite consistent over the years that he wants millions upon millions of Americans to be murdered simply for living in certain states.

I'm out of the loop - what video game was Oppenheimer in? The only one I can think of is Trinity. (And even then he's not named, you have to infer.)

Also, why retweet that? There's no way Bob was actually confusing the voice of Skeletor with the father of the atomic bomb, right?

It's amazing how the thinks he's being smart when he's dropping a complete non-sequitur here. There's NO comparison between a damaged can of capsaicin hell and a correctly-released can of fake smoke. I've seen a Walmart close for the rest of the day because someone discharged bear spray "normally" (a shoplifter got ambitious and tried to steal a TV, decided to spray the greeter on the way out because a geriatic is going to be a massive wall of resistance I guess). I'd hate to see the place after a rupture of a full can.

I don't understand. A comic-book author was able to put his wartime experience behind him and not let it interfere with his professional work, and it's supposed to be a bad, "privileged" thing?
Funny, the lesson I took from that is that your coworkers can be ignorant cunts. But then, I've learned that lesson before. To use a race-free situation (everyone involved was white), I once went on a "team building" exercise once where two of the middle managers could not stop making fun of the Australian who was in charge of keeping the Canadian city slickers from wandering too deep into the woods. Kept calling her a convict etc., real original material. All. Day. Long. Y'know how a joke gets less funny the more you repeat it? Start with one that wasn't funny to begin with, then leave that to stew for 10 hours. It was so bad I went out of my way to personally thank her for her forbearance at the close of the day, handed her a twenty and suggested she put it towards whatever she uses to unwind after dealing with idiots. (I came away from that day with strong personal contempt for two people I'd only half-known and was neutral about before, so it was a rousing success as team-builders go.)

The only way I'd watch a Last of Us Show is if Nick Offerman is just playing his character from Parks and Rec.
Oddly enough I am going to watch some of it to go sightseeing - a former coworker of mine and I were chatting over e-mail about traffic chaos and I got to see photos of my old commute filled with overgrown Massachusetts-plated cars; I learned that they were filming the Last of Us up there and had shut down a side road for a week to do it (wonder how the apartment dwellers there liked that). Gotta admit that it looked really convincing - a road I am sure is mostly intact had saplings in the middle of it that I'd have sworn were rooted. Only odd thing was whoever draped the fake vines only put them over the cars and didn't let them touch the ground much so they seemed to be growing out of the cars rather than up from the ground - that rare sunroof kudzu I guess. I am just curious enough to see my old stomping ground (and see if the car vines look better on camera) that I'll torrent a few episodes... and make heavy use of the seek bar.

Jameela Jamil is an idiot, but she’s not a transsexual. Zendaya is freakishly popular, late of Dune and the new Spider-Man movies. I’m all for dunking on Bob, but you may want to skip the actresses you’re not familiar with as that’s reflecting on you more than Boob.

Guys. Soak this in. Bob really said:

"A tiny % of us drag the rest across the goal-lines of societal-progress."

I just, I just don't know if there will ever be a better example of who Bob thinks he is. We laugh and mock his daily foibles, needless dashes, grammar, spelling, fashion, and all that fatness. That troublesome fatness that invalidates so many of his judgmental assertions.

But this is complete delusion. I joke about how cumbersome it must be for him to get through doors with that cross on his back, but he's saying with all sincerity that he's part of the TINY percentage of people pushing society the correct way.

He says we're a shitty species. We're bad. But he thinks he's like, a chairperson on the Council of The Nine Wise that's secretly guiding our species. And he constantly talks about it like it's a legitimate hassle. He's tormented by his great burden of hatred, tempered by wisdom. Je suis si fatigué.

Are there any psychology Kiwis in here that want to take a stab at this? What's wrong with the boy? Any family member that caught you talking like this that didn't get you into professional help doesn't really like you or lets you stay this way because they think it's amusing.
