An unknown percentage of "followers" on any social media, especially Twitter, are bots. This is very likely pne of the big reasons "Internet famous" doesn't often translate into "people buy your books." It would be fascinating to find out if there's a profile that attracts attention from simple algorithms.

I literally just watched it last week for the first time.

It would be a "man against nature" classification. The kids are struggling against the world with a sickness threatening their mother and later possible death (represented as "missing") threatening Mei. Totoro represents said forces of nature and their making peace with him and bonding with him would be them making peace with nature.

A friend of mine once pointed out that stories are really based on 2 parts: 1) your protagonist lacks something. 2) something prevents the protagonist from instantly acquiring what they lack. Whatever blocks the way, that's your conflict.
