Bob's not alone on this but I think it really just comes back to fans of TV/Movie adaptations getting grouped in with comic fans despite having very conflicting views. I'm pretty sure most people who've been into actual comics at some point in their life has noticed bizarro elitism from the former crowd that prides itself on not caring about the source material despite being willing to watch 40 MCU movies plus everything on Disney+. We're already at the point of shallower childish adaptations being a bigger time sink than just reading the original works. What's most galling of all is that when others who are actually into comics and have long read the books come along and make comments that don't align with his, he retorts with "they aren't real, why are you so bent out of shape?"
You can't have it both ways, fatass. You can't strut your status as a nerd and gleefully proclaim how into comics you are while looking down on those who take the medium seriously and object to terrible editorial decisions. It shines a giant beacon on how much of a poseur you are.
Then again, I'm also a wackjob that thinks we're working our way into live-action adaptations of things as a whole being stigmatized in the public consciousness and being a big turn-off. Most of them are pretty similar to what Netflix does to anime which is already at that point.
