That list gives me a big, "This is for trying to tell me what to do, Dad!" vibe. Although to be fair, it does bear a resemblance to my DVD/BluRay library. (I don't think I have Old Boy, I probably watched it on pay per view or something. I do have Lady Vengeance by the same director.) They Live works as a metaphor for lots of different types of "evil people run the world" concepts. (Contrast it with Get Out, for example.)

I mean if I had a good professor or someone to teach me it, I might be able to learn it, but I taught myself Math through High School. Usually using Geometry, the text book and a few questions with my teacher. And a couple lucky years with really good teachers. But like I was always able to prove concepts and understanding shit by drawing it out or graphing it out. And I just couldn't wrap my head around calculus that way.
Its why I just teach History now. All I need to do is explain calculus, I don't have to know it.
To tie this back to Bob again. He really does strike me as that kid who just knows everything. Or thinks he does. And so he shuts down. Like everyone has shitty teachers. And most of my math teachers were trash. It just meant I had to work that much harder. Which is something I will always be proud of myself for.
In short. Bob is not only fat, but he has bad character too.

While all of this is dumb, I especially love Bob saying Hogwarts and X-Men are the "ONLY fiction-ideal" of outsiders finding a school that accepts them, that's like literally all of them but Bob thinks there was X-Men in 1963 and then nothing until Rowling came up with Hogwarts and now thanks to Rowling's transphobia we're back to just X-Men.

Tolkien died in 1973, and people still care much more about his opinions than Bob's.
Also, for the people saying Tolkien would be pro trans or whatever, Tolkien was such a hardcore Catholic that when the Church switched to doing mass in English, Tolkien would apparently yell the responses in Latin. I don't think he was a man who's beliefs were shaped by nothing more than public opinion.

It really says something that Robert's go to reason on why people over 30 like X-men and Harry Potter is for some shitty escapism where sad sacks delude themselves into thinking they belong to a caste of special people who just had to be born special, and they go and be to a school to be super awesome with the other special people.
I mean, to a point Robert isn't wrong, more so when dealing with the Harry Potter stuff, Ii would guess some of the people who dress up on those silly robes, shove a pvc pipe under their legs and wave sticks while speaking giberish in latin, yeah, maybe some of these people really do use Harry Potter as futile atempt of escape their mediocre lot on life.
Or maybe they are just role playing, you know, having fun with other dorks, not to mention that Harry Potter have millions and millions of readers, and most of them are just here to read about some wizard kid story. That's the main reason on why the atempts to exapand the Harry Potter "universe" beyond "Harry Potter" us that people don't care about this Wizard World if the characters they like ain't on it.
And X-men? Nobody wants to be "a" X-men, people used to read X-men because they thought Wolverine and the other characters were cool. Yada yada yada, social commentary about the marginalized, metahpor that speaks to the reader that identifies being misunderstood... bullshit.
X-men as persecuted mutant heroes was a mediocre book Stan-Lee farted while struggling to create new heroes. The book only became popular once Claremont picked the books and turned into a soap opera "Who's gonna be with who? Does Jean loves Scott or Logan? find out on the next issue of X-men!!"
yeah, yeah, "God loves, man Kills", nah, what people really remember from X-men is the Phoenix sagas, Inferno, Brood, Savage land, The Age Of Apocalypse (ugh), and none of those stories is about "being a mutant" or being in a school, it is about cool characters doing cool stuff, and melodrama, lots and lots of melodrama. John Byrne once said he had to pester Claremont every month to put some action scenes on the script otherwise the man would just write spandex soap-opera.
So no Robert, just because YOU have this weird fixation on being "special" or at least taking your entertainment like that, the rest of us are not.

A lot of people don't know that X-Men was cancelled in 1970 and didn't come back until 1975.
The comic was barely about a school after Lee left that's why when people actually focused on the school like Grant Morrison or the New Mutants or Generation X everyone is always like "FRESH TAKE!" Basically nobody in that second team (Storm, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, etc.) and that joined the team for years were students. Ultimate X-Men is obviously different but it's hard to say millennials grew up on that version of X-Men. Even the Animated Series barely shows students.
Actually, Ultimate leans into this by having tons of people point out that what Xavier seems to be doing looks less like a "school" and more like "paramilitary force made up of teens" because it's obviously true.

It's even more hilarious once you realize that whoever wrote that horseshit is clearly either racist or has a raging inferiority complex, or are just assholes following these views to feel better about themselves. These guys are so deep into their political viewpoints that they forget to consider elements of realism, such as nuance. Men, be they white guys, black guys, asian guys and others, are people just like anyone else. They have their qualities, flaws, good memories and personal demons to deal with. And it's a fact that nobody cares much about how men are feeling, society as a whole has expectations for men, expectations of strength, valor, of providing, and these haven't changed to this day, which is why movies like Falling Down work better with a male protagonist: It's simply more believable that a guy would bottle down all of his bad feelings and lose it some day!
Sometimes, ironically, you see these people talking about this, yet they are always the first ones to find some guy to shit on, to find some reason to complain about men so they can feel better about themselves. In my experience, there are just as many women assholes as there are men assholes, and there are nice guys and assholes in every single group out there. No matter how much these guys might demonize the groups they feel are "right" to hate, this will never change!
And, bringing the text to the topic, Bob is a good example of this. He spends every single day of his life looking for someone to beat down so he can play Hero in his mind, he awaits, fangs out, looking for some poor soul to talk down to so he can feel like a smart man. And ironically enough, once fucking again, Bob is precisely a stellar example of a toxic person who won't hesitate to fuck over anyone he sees to show how much of a good guy he is. I'd do a very minor change to that bit where me looking at his track record with theories get mentioned, it should be "under 10%" or "at most 10%" since both require ignoring his exact wording. He only gets things right because he throws so many bad ideas out there that statistically one's going to land and because Hollywood writers are similar levels of dumb.
For example in just the past few months, none of his ideas about Ms. Marvel or Thor 4 came to pass at all. Thor 4 wasn't about making Natalie Portman the face of things going forward, revealing Thor's mother is a giant space bird possessing the body of a deaf Native American woman, or a wacky Venom crossover. The number would be much lower if I did it now instead of just stuff around January.

One nitpick, Glenn Greenwald has become more conservative in his views over the past couple years, but I don't think you'd find a single avowed conservative alive that would call him a comrade in arms. Greenwald is more an Alan Colmes or, probably more apt, a liberal version of Krauthhammer.
