Times like this reminds me of some stuff I've read on how somebody's choice of insults reflects on what they value. Bob has a world view that only views people as utilitarian tools and not surprisingly, his insults revolve around that. It's not a leap to notice he clearly has a complex about this and probably does view himself as a dumb meathead drain on society even if he'd deny it.

Not to imply that dumb meme about people secretly being what they call others, more that insults can be an interesting look into how their brain works. If a guy's first choice of insults all revolve around intelligence then they probably place a lot of stock in that trait.

No, Bob's insults are clearly him projecting his own flaws. Hell, he used neckbeard, fedora, incel and touch grass when those started getting popular even though all of those apply to him. And the infamous "Building a Better Gamer" episode where accused his entire audience of being, well, him.

Granted, these are all much bigger names than Bob (with the exception of Decker Shado who's more of a wildcard) so this may not be an entirely fair comparison. But Bob has been around longer than all of these guys and can't even sniff the success they're having, no matter how long the video is he's compared against. So what is the variable here? It's Bob. Say what you will about these other reviewers, I know Chris Stuckman in particular has many lulzy moments, but they have all proven more popular than Bob in less time. And none of them had the luxury of being boosted by being "that guy on the website with Yahtzee"

Bob complaining about Zazlav creating two reality shows that were A BIG HIT and made TONS OF MONEY is irony. Here Comes Honey Boo Boo was one of TLC's top rated shows. A reviewer at Forbes magazine accused TLC of trying to overplay the southern-hick aspect of the family. In fact, Honey Boo Boo has a GAY UNCLE that the family was surprisingly (to the reviewers AND people like Movie Bob) tolerant and accepting of. That and the fact that the mother had at least 4 baby-daddies and terrible choices in men (at least 2 sex offenders in the mix) doesn't speak to any flavor of Jesus-Juicing going on, that's for damn sure.

The ONLY reason the show was cancelled, is because the mother was dating a man who was a registered sex offender.

As for the Duggars' show (17-19 kids and counting), it hit the Neilsen "Cable Top 25" in ratings.

Say what you want about either of these shows or the premises, but the moneymaking and ratings were SOLID.

HOWEVER.

I can find NO evidence, either in Wikipedia or IMDB, that David Zazlav created either Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, or 19 Kids And Counting. On IMDB it says Doug Mirabello created the Honey Boo Boo show, not Zaslav. There's no evidence he was even directly involved with the day-to-day production of either show. Why is Bob making this claim? Is it because Zaslav was CEO at Discovery Communications at the time and presumably would have to have given the shows the green light?

Bob does not care that these shows had ratings and thus made money. Bob only cares that the hated MAGAnaise Ghoulen got a spotlight on TV. Bob makes it sound like not only Zaslav greenlit those shows, but also like he personally went around to Sistergangbang Counties to recruit the Meth-Juicers for TV, because Drumpf (retroactively).

Also there's something to be said for making shit that people want to watch, as opposed to shit people DON'T want to watch.

It certainly fits Bob's standard of accountability on goalposts where being adjacent to anything he finds objectionable on any level makes someone accountable, whereas he'll make endless concessions for those he promotes. You know, like defending James Gunn's dumbass tweets or pretending AOC's pretend handcuffs were a stroke of genius. And that also applies to some shows under the wing of the person that oversees everything at a network. Especially given you never know what kind of shows will take off! Two days ago, I found that show about the midget farmers is STILL running and popular. The premise was these people are too small to be farming, but they're doing it anyway. That's just how media works.

You know what the least interesting facet of anybody's personality is? What media they fucking endorse. Ever suffered through an evening where you're held hostage by your girlfriend and her stupid friends that talk about Real Housewives or some other stupid shit for three hours? That works in reverse when your woman is trapped and your gang won't shut up about Moon Knight.

Take that situation, replace actual friends with Twitter, remove woman, silence all people helpfully informing your fat ass to get a life, and define your entire personality based on defending ONE company's products. This is the recipe to make Bob Chipmans.

Remember I mentioned that his career zenith was about six/seven years ago, after he'd been booted from The Escapist but before Trump won and he went completely insane. It started to become obvious to everyone that he's a hateful asshole (I certainly never paid attention to him before GamerGate) but it wasn't known or appreciated in all segments of the internet. Most people didn't care about GamerGate and he was such a tireless crusader for the cause that you had a lot of anti-GG SJWs supporting him out of obligation, Lindsay Ellis was still pretending to be his friend, for example.

Then Trump won and he came out not just against Trump supporters but Bernie supporters and pretty much anybody who doesn't think like him, and the more GamerGate became a distant memory, the more those people who supported him really out of obligation just stopped watching.

It's an entirely fair comparison. Bob and those other people all started with 0 subs and 0 views. A couple of them like Ralph and Chris Stuckmann have been around almost as long as Bob, from back when there was less competition for online content. Those people blew past him and still maintain higher view counts after all this time because unlike Bob they make content people apparently want to watch.

Hard to believe people are back to debating Bridget's gender. Historically the only people who have cared this much about Bridget's gender have been porn-addicted, anime-obsessed chronic masturbators in denial about how badly they want to fuck a cartoon prepubescent boy.
