Late as usual, but I had to go back and reread this a couple of times. I'm not entirely sure what Bob's on about here, frankly. Books = history, public statues = cultural mythology? What? There is no one "history"--there's a broadly accepted historical timeline, but to this day people are still arguing about virtually everything that happened at any given time.
