It also gets you strokes and myocardial infarction, you fat diabetic fuck.

I'll leave this tweet chain to our resident comic-book experts. It seems to me Bobby is suggesting MCU is some deconstructivist genius who trades in irony:

To me, the approach that he's talking about comes across as rather insincere, as if the movies a lot of the time are afraid that they'll become the butt of the joke if they don't constantly wink at the audience and are unwilling to fully commit to their premise. Plenty of genre fare that have outlandish premises and play it straight, such as Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Game of Thrones, have gone on to see great critical acclaim and cultural relevance, and I don't see why the MCU, which people have been following for almost ten years now, is any different. This video does a great job of articulating my feelings in greater detail:
I'm a huge Marvel fan, but I don't pretend that everything that they do is perfect because I want them to be the absolute best that they can be. Bob on the other hand just strawmans any criticisms of his pet franchise and ends up making himself look like a fool in the process. Frankly, I think that there's a bit of insecurity on his part that drives this mindset, as if he needs to have his tastes constantly validated.

His hatred for Nolan is largely due to the acclaim the Dark Knight got. He originally liked that movie but when non-geeks and the geeks who regularly bathe and don't live in their brother's basement praised it as the best comic book movie in years he got buttmad and started decrying the movie as ruining Batman. I can't find where he posted it originally (I thought it was his blog but it must've been his twitter), but he also claimed Nolan was "enabling the worst aspects of geekdom" when Baneposting became a thing with the next movie.
He probably also hates The Dark Knight because it's filled with Bush-era rhetoric about freedom and security. For Bob that period was pretty much the equivalent of the Fall of Man, when video games went from bubbly kid-friendly Nintendo stuff to gritty grey Call of Duty clones.
Kinda ironic that his beloved global vision is turning his favorite medium into bland, nearly unwatchable dreck.
Each man kills the thing he loves
By each let this be heard,
Some do it with a bitter look,
Some with a flattering word,
The coward does it with a kiss,
The brave man with a sword

How the flipping feck does enjoying Cuphead's challenge have anything to do with Nazism? Seriously, I'm baffled on this one. I know everything has to do with Nazism these days, but it's just ... it's a fun game that's not the easiest to get into. A low-skilled need2gitgud type like me can just watch gameplay videos and enjoy the cool animation instead. No muss, no fuss.

But I suppose if there's one word that sums up Bob, it's "fuss." Something about him always brings to mind a whiny baby with food smeared on its chin.
That makes me wonder how he reacts to fighting games. Diverse playerbase, diverse character rosters, unforgivingly hard, and fanbase that's full of complete shitlords.

He likely hates it because it's violent and it's what dudebros played back in the day most likely. I can't see him really liking anything on that scene besides Smash to be honest.

The same way he reacts to all vidya: does it have MAHREEYO in it? If so, it's automatically good. If not, parrot the latest socjus hot take, but with extra "and that's why everyone not from a major city should be gassed".

I repeat, he originally loved it and his opinion didn't sour on it until it became clear that people resembling groups he hates also liked it.

Here's his initial review as evidence:

Here's a relevant quote from the first 30 seconds:

First and foremost, why the fuck are you even looking at reviews for this? Go see the goddamn movie! Do you really need to hear this again from another critic? Best fucking movie of the summer, maybe the entire year. One of the best superhero movies ever. Heath Ledger owns, he will be nominated for an Oscar, and he should win it. It's essentially perfect.

Probably complain that a game like Street Fighter is full of racist caricatures and ignoring whenever someone points out that a character like Rashid is super popular in the part of the world he's from. It'd be the classic "Speedy Gonzales is a racist stereotype" thing all over again.

I think this is yet more evidence that Bob's development stopped after high school, maybe earlier. It's like his mind refuses to accept that people he hates may like the same thing and he wants to completely disassociate from them as possible. He only hates it now because he thinks the jocks that bullied him like it, much like why he dismisses the PlayStation and FPS games.

Fact is, you're going to encounter people you hate or otherwise look down upon enjoying something you like too, and that shouldn't affect your enjoyment (assuming what you like isn't completely shameful). But Bob steadfastly refuses to like anything associated with the people he hates.

Exactly. Teens think that if someone is bad or you hate them it must be a 100% hatred and bad. When a person matures they should come to realize that an interest shared is an opportunity to move beyond hatred.

Heck there's more than person i can barely stand with them being a filthy commie-pinko scum and all, but they like Tolkien so they're not all bad.

Wow...Thats a pretty strong example of "Gatekeeping" there Bob. Do as a Superior American says, not as He doe's.

There's a reason the word Manichean keeps resurfacing when we try to analyze Bob. But I think there's also just a huge amount of pigheaded brand loyalty, the kind you usually outgrow even before high school, when you figure out there isn't that much different between Marvel and DC or Sega and Nintendo (ok, my examples are as old as I am, but you get my point).

The irony with the on the head explanation of Bob's adamant loyalty to the Marvel brand is that one time for his Game Overthinker series did a video going to decry those who were super brand loyal. He went on how they were letting marketing dictate their purchasing and consumption habits, but I guess being a hypocrite is part and parcel of being a Bob Chipman.

He also went on a rant about how gamers need to diet and exercise.

I'm still hoping he one day finds out about Marvel Studios not being the same company that makes the comics and never wants to work with them again. Perfect way to see how this looks in his head.

We might see another rant from Bob soon about comics. Granted this comes from the trash heap known as the Bleeding Cool but supposedly they're starting to crack down on employees getting into fights on Twitter. If something comes from it, it's going to be hilarious.

I'm sure it will bring back fond memories for Bob.

If Marvel cracks down on employees engaging in Twitter slap fights with the paying customers, they won't have any employees left. They've already hit rock bottom. The actual sane competent comic producers won't work for them anymore. Marvel actually hires new talent off tumblr these days. A few of their more rabid senior writers like Mark Waid and Dan Slott probably deserve their own threads around here.

Bob just posted a brutally large screed about rock music showing, yet again, he doesn't understand the purpose of twitter. Considering his lack of knowledge regarding his usual mediums of choice, he's hardly someone to be talking about music. I don't know the context, but of course fucking Miyamoto was the progenitor for him giving us his interpretation of the last 70 years of music history. He also took the time to post something to the effect of "Oh I forgot my dad died lol".

Read bottom-to-top. Mad props to the guy who usually caps Bob's madness.

He is severely overthinking a single quote and going on an insane autistic tangent about nothing. So business as usual. Video games aren't rock and roll because of... what? 1950s white southerners hate niggers? This is straight gobbledygook. And then the conclusion is people hate disco because it's gay? Of course he ties it back into felating SJW indie garbage too. You know Blob, maybe people don't like disco/indie game trash because an awful lot of disco/indie game trash is shit.

Y'know I tried reading the rock 'n roll shit and I just couldn't. And it's all because of Twitter's format. Bob just loves throwing big words around that quickly fill out Twitter's character limit. There's no reason a single sentence should make upwards of 8 tweets, not if you're posting on goddamn Twitter.

Look, if you need to make a long thought on Twitter, 3 tweets is the absolute limit. Anything more than that is self-indulgent. But Bob has absolutely no idea how to abridge his own thoughts into anything readable on that platform.
