How will Bob react to seeing the Mario film?

Bob most have some serious debts or is just generally bad with money.
He rents a basement apartment that floods and it serves as both his home and studio. He doesn’t have a car, does he? No pets. No lover or partner. Based on Patreon, he makes $48,000 a year, which is low for his area, but as a single renter, he should have disposable income even when you take out taxes and insurance. That’s just Patreon, presumably he also makes money from the partnerships.
He must blow through money on tendies and Mario junk.

He does. He stated in Brick by Brick he would stay in his car at night to play on his Nintendo Gameboy so he can wait until his parents go to sleep and go in.

So he might have an old model that is surely paid off by now. Insurance and gas aren’t that much extra a month.
I’m just trying to figure out how $400 is a bridge too far for Bob.

My theory was that he was blowing it on his own personal space program researching moonwheat colonies or was trying to make a robotic Princess Peach sex doll.

This is a cost of living calculator for Boston: https://www.expatistan.com/cost-of-living/boston

It's high, but not exhorbitantly so, about 16 percent higher than a Midwestern city. If Bob's not driving and is renting out a flooding basement, he should have no trouble making ends meet. (Unless he's eating out a lot, which in a major city tends to eat through one's finances like fire eats gas fumes.)

This is what I get for listening to Bob without double checking. To be fair to him, a lot of self employed people were whining as well.
I remember Bob sperging about Unreimbursed Expenses mostly. I'd have to go back but this recent Scratch-off revelation has me more upset than I should be at a lolcow.

He assumed the loss of Unreimbursed Employee Expenses meant he couldn't write off his multiple trips to see Black Panther.

For all our laughing at him constantly responding with "IT'S MY JERB", fact of the matter is that film critic is indeed his job. It's a job he's shitty at and makes bad decisions in the operation of, but it is his job.

Not only that, he has confirmed that he's self-employed. And this is where his logic falls apart.

The loss of umreimbursed employee deductions was meant for W-2 employees who buy their own equipment (Nurses buying their own scrubs, construction workers buying their own tools, etc.) without getting reimbursed to instead go to their employers and seek reimbursement, or at least to get their employers to purchase that equipment.

For someone who is self-employed, this doesn't matter. Because when you're self-employed, you're always reimbursed. See: https://www.inc.com/erik-sherman/stop-panicking-tax-bills-dont-eliminate-your-business-expenses.html

One theory that I have: diabetes medication and other health costs. Even with insurance, medication to manage your diabetes can be pricey. It can get into the thousands range easily. I don't know what insurance Bob has (or if he even has insurance), but it can help explain and shed some light on his finances.

I'm just saying.

No one should ever let him live down calling anyone else "less-intelligent".
  • Complaining about taxes when he doesn't know how to itemize a deduction. Or even that he can do a deduction at all, apparently.
  • Complaining about money when he makes in the upper echelon of the 22% bracket
  • Complaining about money troubles WHILE BUYING SCRATCH OFF LOTTERY TICKETS

Okay but what was he spending all those money on before diabetes?

...nevermind it was probably sugar and fast food.

There is a picture somewhere that showed the glorious modern art of Bob’s Underground lair. A literal wall of odd and generic brand soda cans. Mostly oddball store brand Mountain Dew variants. Full sugar/corn syrup versions. Bob literally drank himself into poverty... just not the way most normal people do.

"Stupidity is an absolute evil," someone feed this evil person some new lines please.

> "... increasingly knowledge-centric world..."
> "Only stupid people think people with learning disabilities are 'stupid'."

If you have a learning disability, you can't effectively acquire new knowledge in this "increasingly knowledge-centric world", which means you'd be increasingly out of steps with this knowledge-centric Superior Future, which means you're "stupid", which means you're EVIL.

Bobby is too evil to reflect on the full implication of whatever contradictory evil shit his Overladies feed him.

Well all this "stupidity is evil" is very thinly veiled contempt for anyone that isn't crazy enough to want to see a Mega City 1 dystopian nightmare come to fruition. I still don't know how a man would see cities as the bastion of everything good and just when more than countless works of literary fiction, pieces of art, poems, and even songs could point to that fact being the opposite. In fact, it was the ideals of Bob that Pol Pot would see and decide that cities and intellectuals were such cancer that he decided to destroy them in his "Year Zero Plan," so lets reflect apawn that good folks.

Bob Chipman makes dictators look like saints. Good thing he'll forever be stuck in his basement, so he's about as harmless as a gnat. I'm gonna go learn some new shit now.
