Not to change the subject but I was just thinking about this. Has anyone ever actually seen or heard Bob actually talk about the technical aspects of cinema in a way that demonstrates real understanding or expertise, as opposed to just regurgitating pop culture argument bullshit? Angle, field, focus, lenses, frames, spacing, shot techniques, editing, lighting and palette?

Like, for example, talking about how in The Shining Kubrick uses wide-angle lenses in confined spaces and narrow-angle lenses in open spaces, and long takes with tracking shots, to deliberately portray the Overlook as architecturally impossible and leave viewers constantly disoriented and confused? That kind of stuff.

For the life of me I can't think of any time Bob even demonstrated actual expertise or authority even with cinema. When he talks about cinematography he's usually pussy-aching about something that's currently being discussed for which information can be found with a simple Google search, and when he talks about the history of Hollywood he basically just plagiarizes Wikipedia articles. I might have missed something, but I did watch a hell of a lot of his videos back in the day when I was just getting interested in cinema before I realized how big of a turdblossom he is, and looking back on it he really didn't have much more than the most basic and simplest information and no real insights.

No, because most media critics on YouTube today either don't know or don't bother. The online world needs fewer MovieBobs, Nostalgia Critics, and Myserious Mr. Enters and more of Lessons from the Screnplay, Now You See It, and Nerdwriter1 (and NerdWriter1 also analyzes art and politics in ways that actually feel like they know what they're talking about). Hell, I'll even take Cutting Edge (a YouTube series that highlights movies that have been censored in America, the United Kingdom, and Australia).

Boston is expensive (not as expensive as SF but getting there) and filthy but it’s an older city and much larger. More people are moving out to the burbs, an hour away, and commuting in via train which actually works and isn’t filled with thugs and homeless like SF’s public transportation (BART).

That is something that has been bothering me for the past few months considering that the number of WWII veterans that actually fought against Nazis in the Second World War has dwindled. When Bob and his confederates sling around the term "Nazi" to smear political opponents, they effectively dilute the term and trivialize the atrocities that the real Nazis committed. No. Detaining illegal migrants in detention centres so that they can be processed is not equivalent of working people to death or gassing them en masse. Bob and his ilk are so historically illiterate, it is laughable. If anything, it is their ideologies and attitudes that will lead to a resurgence of on hyper-nationalist movements.

Seriously, I would love to get my hands on Bob's school transcripts to see what his grades were like because I suspect that he was a mediocre student at best. Does he know that the Nazi's rise to power did not happen in a vacuum. The Entente powers, especially a revanchist France that was still butthurt over their humiliating loss in the Franco-Prussian War, imposed the Treaty of Versailles on the Germany to humiliate the defeated nation. It wasn't just the reparations and the occupation of the Rhineland and the cessation of Saarland, the Entente forced Germany to take the blame for a war they didn't even start. Okay, sure, Kaiser Bill the Second was spoiling for a fight, but the whole of Europe was a powder keg and Germany was honouring its alliance to Austria-Hungary. The Entente stripped the German people of their dignity, and after the chaos of the Weimar Republic and Great Depression, they were willing to listen to some Austrian fuck with a pencil moustache who promised to restore the country's former glory.

Bob is like the vindictive Third French Republic, except that me endeavours to deprive the denizens of the Mid-West/South/Mountain states of their dignity and voice. What reveals the true depths of his delusions is how he expects the "wasteland ghouls" to accept their cultural/demographic displacement and possible extinction. Here is the thing though: when faced with an existential threat, people are going to fight back and viciously. What Bob fails to realize is that his side does not have the numbers to impose their will on the populace through brute force. Given how they bungled the 2016 elections, I believe that will make a repeat performance with this year's midterms so they really aren't that smart either. They do not have the wherewithal to slow down, much less stop the events they set it motion.

Additionally, this bears repeating: Bob is about as useful as a screen door on the submarine in the grand scheme of things. He is, at best, a cheerleader for his side with no real teeth to speak of. At worst, he is a complete waste of resources because at least the worker in "Sisterbang, Whitesylvania" produces something other than reviews of capeshit movies and sucking up corporations.
